I don't pretend I have all the answers as a lot has not been officially been confirmed by the devs. But an S4 was originally planned but it was brought down to 3 stages.
Originally I believe every stage was intended to be completed in 3 months, meaning the entire LFS series would have been completed in a year. As we all know that took a bit (just a bit ) longer. Reasons for this (I think) would be a too optimistic view by the devs AND simply because the devs have raised their standards.
As Bob pointed out there may not even be an S3 the way it was planned, but several smaller releases. Scawen hinted at that before but nobody (maybe not even Scawen himself) knows how it's going to turn out.
But I think we can be sure that there isn't going to be an S4. Unless Leo will continue his dad's work when he's retired
The question the way it was meant is how you are able to use LFSTweak when you appear to be a demoracer. As demoracers aren't able to use LFSTweak without being naughty.
So you are the all knowing prophet that has determined that these changes are good for "us"? I personally ain't afraid of change at all. Actually, I think F1 needs A LOT of change. I just don't feel these are the right changes for the sport.
Certainly there are other ways to do this as it has been like this in the past.
Something tells me motorracing fans aren't exactly in the same camp as environmentalists for the biggest part. And F1 surely isn't going to disappear completely because of these environmentalists. As long as the global powers that be have anything to say in it. In the big picture the pollution caused by motorracing is a drop in the ocean.
Yay.
Then something should be done about the costs, increasing the manufacturer influence is not the way to go about it imo. On the contrary it will only make it worse and F1 will eventually implode.
Really? I seem to remember F1 from a time where manufacturer influence was WAY smaller than it is now, the races were more exciting and the drivers needed more talent.
Oh, and about the costs. I saw an interview with Patrick Head who stated that F1 was relatively much more expensive in the early 80's which he described as the most expensive era from F1.
Well, it appears some don't share your opinion and have a different view of how F1 should be. That's fine, opinions differ, but I don't see what relevance or position you have to be able to guarantee me as a racing fan that these changes will be for the best. In the end your views hold the same amount of relevance as mine or any other. Which is virtually nothing in the big picture. Right now, you're acting like you have information and facts that we don't have and that somehow you know better.
All the FIA needs to do is look at some footage of the 70's and 80's to get an idea how to make F1 exciting again. Sure, those cars wouldn't live up to the safety regulations we have these days, but surely cars like that combined with modern day safety measures could make a great package.
I was watching some clips again of that era recently, and god it was exciting to watch.
But I guess over the years the focus of F1 has shifted more and more from passionate racing and giving spectators an exciting race to being a showcase for the big car companies.
Just when I thought they were on a somewhat good track like making the cars wider again and using slicks (with the exception of the above mentioned rear wing)...
They might as well remove the drivers and turn F1 into a big scale RC racing class now.
Is it April fools again already?
Just when I thought the split rear wing was the most ridiculous thing the FIA could come up with they pull this one out of their sleeve.
I'll take a full grid of privateer teams using proper F1 cars over crap like this controlled by the big car companies.
Unless they changed their minds recently, Scawen has given an answer to this question on numerous occasions already. That would be a no to additional devs.
It's a cool drawing, I like the basic shape of the car, but yeah much more is needed to give a clear view of it. So not just the looks but also the specs, driving characteristics, etc. And seeing as the devs work alone and modding isn't possible it's pretty much out of the question. But I'd like a car like that one.
Ike that puts a new perspective on things, so the police department are not excluding a criminal act. I take it the FBI will shortly take over this case from the NYPD. Is there any speculation of who might have been behind this upsetting act? Like an unsatisfied customer or maybe even a terrorist act?
Now in other breaking news, reports are coming in from New York where at a local supermarket a pack of milk has fallen over. Our correspondent Ike Kidyunat is at the scene. Ike what's the latest update?
IMO the BF1 could use some work actually. The interior looks nice, but as far as the car model is concerned I feel the FO8 looks more finished. The FO8 is the most complete looking car imo. It has details other cars are simply missing. For instance the FO8 has mounting points for the suspension whereas the suspension on the FOX and BF1 just goes right through the body work. They're little things and most people probably don't notice or care, but I care about details But I agree most other cars need more work to be up to par.
The cars do look very good, but I agree they seem to be pasted into the picture. I'm not saying they are, but it just seems that way probably because of the environment map which doesn't seem to fit in very well. The tires don't look amazing, but certainly not bad. They look better than LFS' tires. Shadows are a bit weird but also better than LFS'.
The track looks nothing short of amazing.
Uhm, why does he have to render himself to be give his opinion?
For instance, I'm not a photographer but I see when a picture is out of focus. I am no piano player but I hear when it is played off key.
He made valid points about the render. The sidewalls ARE black, the render IS pixelated, and the environment IS way too bright. So there's no need to be so defensive. Remember, criticism is much more useful than praise.
To be quite honest, what's so special about downloading pre-made scenes, changing the skin and hitting render? At least credit the guy who made the garage scene, becausen now you're making it seem like you made it.
The AI are indeed very slow, although they are self learning. So the more you race them (or let them race eachother), they will get quite a lot better. But they'll stay slow, as the AI system needs improvements.
What he's doing right now is everybody's guess. He could be having dinner, watching TV, taking a dump, I don't know.
What he's been up to lately has already been mentioned by Scawen. Meaning, SO updates, interior updates (I suspect/ hope all of the cars, not just the GTR's).
I hope he has done some car exterior updates. Some of them, especially the RB4 and UF1 desperately need some improvements.
I'm also wondering what became of his work on Kyoto. Scawen mentioned Eric working on this somewhere around Patch T, but so far nothing has appeared. So maybe that will be inlufed in Patch Y too.
So what´s the point of it then? If they appear when they appear in your mirrors at the same time it´s just overdone.
I understand it *could* contribute to clean driving, but in my opinion it would be artificial. The responsibility for clean driving lies with the racers, not with a system.
BTW: I really like the improved names display with flags though
Yes, the pitcrew tells you who is ahead and behind, but they aren´t constantly telling you at which exact location they are behind you. maybe in oval racing
