Quote from Del-Dredd :
In the GTL demo amongst others, you can actually feel the car on the edge of grip etc and feel cornering forces which enable better control.

i was about to help you cfg until i read that. this is a joke right? isi ff is more canned than milli-vannilli live performance.
only ff better than lfs, is n2003. we'll get there...

Quote from farcar :Some would even say oval racing is highly technical. Not meaning the actual track, but racing strategies.

hehe funny u mention that, cause something tells me he knows more about that than the rest of the forum, me included

Quote from farcar :
If track creation tools are ever made, I'm sure we'd see the excellent Phillip Island track in Victora, Australia. It has strings of high speed sweeping corners where, if you stuff up the first bend, you're not gonna recover until about 3 corners later! I'd guess this style of track comes under the RichardTowler view of 'technical'??

yes thats surely a technical track like suzuka is. for me, i like oldspa(67), osterreichring, Oulton Park, knockhill, some kyalami, some zandy, etc and fantasy hmm road two for n2003 by the great alexulleri and maybe lakeside for the fun pace.
a loudon type of oval and a talladega one would complete further the type of ovals we have (maybe it can be inserted in next racing enviroments like kyoto).

there are pointless corners in a few tracks indeed, but much worse were they before. i dont like aston much (never did) but imho kyoto long and national are nice, and so is westhill. so long is great. i guess i just dont like aston. but for me , lfs on some tracks i dont like is still better than anything out there.

ps: oh i forgot to mention rouen. how could i? that track can make me fly. in all possible interpretations. nurby would also be welcomed

Quote from operator0 :SO long is very technical.

i agree. he also said exactly that. indeed techical is hard to descrive. i tend to relate it to no breathing tracks in which a small error can mean big consequences. i also relate them to lower mid speeds but especially with great change of pace during a lap , from the very slow to the very fast. fast nonlinear rhythm. like jazz trip. unlike popsong.

Quote from colcob :Even if body damage did effect it, it would just be a statement that checked to see roughly how borked the body was, and adjusted the coefficient accordingly.

Quote from tailing :Maybe something to aid people upgrading to a widescreen monitor, when you choose a non-square resolution the FOV setting in LFS could have an extra bracketed value to represent the equivalent 4:3 FOV. Would save the non maths people doing these calcs.

thats a nice small suggestion.

Quote from steve :I do understand what im doing, what I was trying to get across is that the res is not true widescreen, just a clipped screen. If it was true widescreen, I should have a wider field of view, with more FOV I just get a stretced out longer view.

u obviously dont understand what you are doing. shame you cant even read what people bother to explain and try to help you.

the answer to this thread was already posted.
if u want 16:9 ratio u click show nonsquare resolutions. good luck and i hope u understand what u are doing.
if u need any more specific answer please be specific with your question else this leads nowhere.

Quote from nikimere :Just want to know what everyone else thinks about this....

I think the dirt on the tyres is WAY to extreme. It's a great feature but it's not realistic.
You cant even hook a wheel over a curb or you'll get dirt on your tyres which will make u suffer for the next 3 or 4 corners.
I'd vote for it to be toned down at least 50%

Just my thoughts

i know someone that isnt a racedriver like you and requested the EXACT same thing. he wasnt heard maybe you are...
goodluck

lfs has for years the best support of screenmodes of ANY game.
u have 1) true 16:9 (or whatever relation ratio your card supports like trihead matrox) or u also have 2) 4:3 option "widescreen effect" to have cinemascope type of black bars. that only adds the bars to cut the strangled fov effect verticaly. so u can abuse fov a bit more on "widescreen" effect.
you still have a 3) option, if u have a big and good 4:3 monitor which is to force a 16:9 res like 1280x720 or 1600x900 and have your monitor vertically stretch down to compensate the aspect ratio and memorize that refresh/res combo.
this allows to turn a big 4:3 into a small/medium 16:9 monitor. this has the advantage of allowing higher refresh rates, coz your card has less lines (vertically) to draw. therefore even aa gets a small boost etc.

i run mine for a couple of years at 1600x900 or 1280x720. both in native 16:9 lcd (at 60hz) or at my main 4:3 monitor at (100hz).

work.
any 3d soft will do. in this case, lightwave.
tool isnt really important if you know exactly what you want to reach.
only work stands between what you want, and what you achieve.

glad you enjoyed them.

Quote from eobet :Not that this isn't a good idea, but I was hoping for a LFS setup wiki. You know, basic stuff, cause and effect, and then guidelines for the different tracks, perhaps even corners, what too look out for, temperature guides, tyre strategies, etc. etc. All written in a way that a newbie player can understand.

thats the most important thing indeed and prolly, for me, the only reason for a manual

car setups section already has some info on that.

Quote from Mr. Jones :I fully knew what I was doing...call it testing the waters if you will. . It was nice to see he didn't bite on the bait actually. I believe he has found a home and is doing some good for the community. Keep him on the Lithium and it's all good.

seems that you're too stupid to even know when people reply to your useless out of the blue trolling. maybe i was too subtle...
go drag yaself in the mud, not others. judging from this thread seems the only antisocial behaviour here is coming from you. dont think just coz you're a lonely loser, you'll get no reply. no need to type twice as if you are superior to others, that will only make you look even more dumb. behave or keep the distance from me, thanks.
