I'd have to pick Alonso. Even though he's a complete arsehole, he's been putting in some very solid performances in what is one of the worst cars on the grid. He's definitely proven so far that it simply wasn't Renault who had an unbeatable car (05 & 06) but that Alonso is a phenomenal driver.

why go off topic? . Why not just put the handbags down and get cracking on a Patch Z compatible version of BeSpoke?
Leprekaun

BeSpoke was the best program for editing rims. However, the latest version is only compatible with Patch X10 so we'll have to wait for Andylec to release a Patch Z compatible version or if theres anyone willing to modify the exe somehow to access the correct values within LFS.

Sense of pointless posts? (even this thread is)
Leprekaun

Hi all! I just felt that I had to say this for a very looooong time now. Does anyone here see, like myself, that posting anything that isn't related to LFS quite pointless?. There is no true credibility to most of the information (that isn't LFS related) stated here because what originally brought everyone to this forum is because they like LFS and that they like to talk about it, whether they're racing drivers, do it as a hobby or anything car/bike related. I'm not saying that we should stop altogether discussing other matters but my point is is that other topics have their place in other forums where the topic of discussion is more related to the general discussions held at that forum. I probably think like this because I've grown to not give a shit to pretty much what everyone here says. I like discussing important issues with LFS but when it comes to anything else, I prefer discussing it in forums that are related to what I want to discuss.

Just wanted to say this as a form of relief, not discussion .
whats the method to finding the LFSTweak variables?
Leprekaun
S2 licensed
hi all! I've read in many places that the way LFSTweak works is by editing an offset in the LFS exe. Now, I'm not very experienced with hex editing and everything but I do have a program (Hackman Hex Editor) that translates all the complicated Hex code into simple english . Anyway, I wanted to ask about whats the method of finding these values? I'm aware that if you reply here, it may not be appreciated as demo users could take advantage of the information you may provide so if so, please PM me with how to find them. Thank you.

erm... no . Too lazy. My method is much more efficient to finding out the information I'd like to know, without having to waste about 3 minutes of my life, by receiving an instant response

erm... what macro? . Isn't it just flat-shifting which I believe, is also commonly used in the real world of racing?

put the helmet file in data/skins folder and the racing suit in data/pic folder. Then, when you're in the driver select menu in Options, keep clicking on the right or left arrow below the driver till you get the suit and click on the helmet text below the arrows and select the helmet.

DAMN! seriously? I was told about a year ago that theres no chance of that. DAMN IT! one thing I thought that was good about Egypt turns out to be done somewhere else, pfft...
How kick ass is home delivery in Egypt!

Hehe, I just wanted to show off at least one good thing about Egyptian society (yeah, loads of cr*p in this country ). I can order food ONLINE!!! . If you don't believe me, check it out for yourself.

Of course, a major downside is that ordering junk food is too easy now

Was thinking the same when playing the DTM or V8SC mods. I don't think that the TBOs should just get slicks and make them into a new car but perhaps add a new class of car where the cars have slightly more power, some slight aerodynamic modifications, slightly lighter and slightly more powerful than the TBOs.

I know most of you are going to think I'm a nerd for doing this but I thought of maybe providing 3 examples for a more powerful class:

XR GT S

Engine: 2.0 turbocharged inline 4 / RWD

Power: 308 BHP

Torque: 486 Nm

Weight: 1192 Kg

Power-Weight Ratio: (249 BHP/ton)

RB4 GT S

Engine: 2.0 turbocharged inline 4 / 4WD

Power: 305 BHP

Torque: 412 Nm

Weight: 1183 Kg

Power-Weight Ratio: (249 BHP/ton)

FXO GT S

Engine: 1.9 turbocharged inline 4 / FWD

Power: 294 BHP

Torque: 370 Nm

Weight: 1111 Kg

Power-Weight Ratio: (261 BHP/ton)

I'm sure you're pondering to how I've come up with such specific figures. Well, I calculated the differences between the XRT and XRR, RB4 and FXR and divided each number by 4 then subtracting that from the original TBO class figures. Because there is no FXO equivalent in the big GTR class (high powered FWD car), I calculated the FXO by calculating the ratio of each figure of the original RB4 to the original FXO.

In simpler terms, the cars are 1/4 better in every area.

Quote from Sponge :I can still picture that guy kicking that bear in the balls hehehe.. Nice skin!

Thanks! . Check the back of the car, you'll see something there too . I'll probably modify it a bit to have a more fish-related appearance
Whats the most realistic kart simulator?
Leprekaun
S2 licensed
Hi all! I'm interested in finding a realistic kart simulator. I have a couple karting games, Michael Schumacher KART 2002 and Michael Schumacher World Tour Kart and I have the ICA kart mod for rFactor. I've tried a demo of Super 1 Karting which seemed ok but can't buy it (region problems with TryMedia). So, whats the most realistic current kart simulator?

I'm aware that Kart Sim is a highly anticipated karting sim but while waiting for that, I'd like to have the next best thing. Thanks!

no, they will each be seperate championships. Look at this round as being a one-off event

Well, obviously, theres the concern that in a very unfortunate event due to some very unfortunate circumstances that S3 won't be released but look at it in this way, the devs may allow the pre-order of the S3 licence so that you get it cheaper, kinda same the thing that they do with commericialised games (i.e.: Halo 2 before it was released) so that if you wait till its released, then you'd have to pay something like 20 instead of the usual 12 per stage.

Obviously, this would seem like a cheeky move from the devs but game publishers (or in this case, developers and publishers) like to ensure that a bunch of people will buy it before they even try it, so if it turns out crap, they still got the money .

Personally, I bought S2 from the go when only S1 was around, perhaps a silly move to do but S2 seemed to be a definite thing at the time but I think that since we've had S2 for a couple years now and there haven't been any major changes to it except for some new physics and couple new cars, it seems we're far away from a complete S2 version so it would be stupid to even ponder about S3 now would be silly because God knows when the devs will work on it. They will work on it, I'm sure of it as they seem to be proper chaps and stick to their word but whether I'll, and I'm sure many others will be the same, be still be racing in LFS or not is another story altogether.

but if both wheels are spinning, doesn't this mean that the drive wheels (in this case, rear) have no grip while the fronts have grip, meaning that I should technically be able to swing around on an axis but it doesn't?
Leprekaun
S2 licensed
Ok, so I was wrong that the cp provides more locking (F1PerfView revealed that with the locked diff, both wheels are spinning at the same speed, unlike the cp LSD) but I still don't understand why its easier to swing the car around with cp than locked diff. If I understand correctly, a locked diff will control both wheels to be at the same speed for longer but when grip is lost, will cause large amounts of oversteer while its the opposite with the cp. If this is true, then I shouldn't experience any of this inside wheel spin with a locked diff right?
Leprekaun
S2 licensed
it has nothing to do with the hack. I tweaked the FXO to 500 BHP, and when I hit max throttle and turn max left or right, the inside wheel spins earlier when using a locked diff and the car doesn't swing around, but with Clutch Pack, it spins around when doing the exact same thing (max left or right and full throttle) so I don't think I'm having any trouble figuring it out

I'll test with the normal specs.
Clutch Pack at 80% more locked than locked diff?
Leprekaun
S2 licensed
Hi all! When I got LFSTweak working for patch Y (Rooble's tweak which I will not be posting), I tried switching the drivetrain of some of the FWD cars to RWD. I then selected a Locked Diff to try and drift a bit but the weird thing is, it still feels open because when I turn at all, I hear the revs pick up but the car doesn't spin. When I tried using the Clutch Pack LSD and set it to maximum power locking (80%) the diff was locking better than the locked diff . So, I think this is a major bug in LFS which should be reviewed.

Well, I used to support Hamilton before that incident but since he never apologised properly to Raikkonen for it, I've lost a lot of respect for him. Still, even though it was a ridiculously stupid move by Hamilton and Rosberg, that only shows a lack in awareness and character, but doesn't mean that when it comes to actual driving ability that they're bad. Look at Alonso for example, nearly everyone hates him and with good reason too since he seems like a cheating-(email situation between him and Coughlin and DLR with Ferrari info) -huffy-b*stard, he won the championship twice and against one of the best F1 drivers of all time, Michael Schumacher so he is definitely a great driver. I don't support him but it would be unfair on him for me to say that he's a crap driver.

The driver that I find seems to be the fairest of all and a very nice chap too is Mika Hakkinen. He won his 2 championships fair and square and he always seemed like a nice guy outside the track too.
whats with the despise of rich kids who get into racing on "daddy's money"?
Leprekaun
S2 licensed
I know that the thread title isn't going to bring friendly faces in but really, I've noticed this a lot around the LFS forum and racing community in general. I mean, sure, you have F1 drivers like Nico Rosberg who had the $ to get into racing from daddy and Hamilton whos Ron's prodigy but really, I find it sick how people have this all-evil gaze or choice of harsh words towards these people. Personally, I don't have anywhere near the amount of money to even start karting. It obviously hurts for any passionate racer that it would seem so easy for some people but that doesn't deny the fact that those drivers are actually good drivers and that they deserve some respect, not contempt.

I mean, try and reverse the situation, if YOU had the money and someone else didn't, would you try and just earn money for the "slight" possibility of having enough money to compete or just start off with daddy's money to ensure that you can get into racing pretty much straight away and starting at a younger age, would provide with you a better opportunity of having a professional career in racing. Obviously, the first choice is a lot more noble, theres no question about that but in terms of the actual result, you may never be able to compete because you would be too old to start professionally or just simply run out of $.

At the end of the day, its a matter of whether you prefer to look noble in front of others or if your competitive drive is stronger and want the surest way to get into racing.

Personally, because I've loved racing all my life, I would definitely go for the second option.
