Quote from mrodgers :So, are you saying here that Ford's primary market is the UK/EU? Come on over here, there are Ford Mustangs everywhere you look, and it's not because of Knight Rider.

Sure they do, but they don't sell new ones.

Quote from thisnameistaken :I don't go online to look a whole lot, to be honest, but that's because when I have I've usually seen half a dozen servers with <10 people in, then a bunch of demo servers.

Maybe most people are settled into doing their one favorite thing with LFS and they know what times their favorite server is busy.

True for me. Only time i'm only is on Sunday evening.

Quote from thisnameistaken :I haven't played LFS for a while myself, so I'm as guilty as anyone, but it seems that the servers got very quiet around last summer and they haven't recovered. Is this the iRacing effect?

TBH I subscribed to iRacing for 2 months and didn't think it was all that interesting. I'm surprised that so many people seem to have jumped ship already. It can't be the lure of the multiplayer because the multiplayer is so inconvenient, so what it is?

It can't be iRacing alone (i still think it's too expensive to get a big userbase), but LFS has a lot of competition that seems to be developing faster then LFS. rFactor mods that keep popping up, GTR Evolution, the last Netkar PRO update.
Quote from JeffR :Last I read, iRacing was hovering around 6,000 active players, as players come and go. This is pretty small compared to the number of LFS player or players of any game.

As far as interest in online racing goes, LFS is one of the few games that still gets around 1,000 players online at peak times. The rest of the sim world is now in a cycle where they get a new game, play it for a while, then retire and wait for the next best thing to come along. I think there's a general burnout factor because some players have been playing online for over 10 years and the newness is long gone.

True, the lifecycle of LFS and the LFS users is longer. But the same cycle also happens in LFS. When there is a new update there are more active users then after a long period of no updates.

Quote from thisnameistaken :So the series is flopping because it's based on cars that don't sell?

I haven't seen any of it, but I barely watch any telly, never mind totally shit american telly.

Maybe it went better if they took a small Ford like the Ford Ka in this economical crisis time

"You owe me a ten second car"
"It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile; winning's winning."

Everybody is b*tching on the movie, but we all have seen them and i'm going to watch this one out too. If you didn't like them then why have a comment about all three of them It's romanticized, it's over the top, it's a movie.

Quote from T.J. :No harm done by posting these pictures.. Nobody can prove when and where it is taken..

It's not that fast. My 3cilinder car can get to that speed if the straight is long enough. And this is about the fastest i have driven (i don't count sitting in the cars with others, then speed has been way higher)

I don't drive arount on CTRA very much anymore, but i've had lot's of fun there. Goodluck with whatever solution you will choose.

I can understand that such a project becomes to much if it doesn't pay the bills and you have to do it all in your spare time.
Quote from Jakg :What would the LFS community think to a weeks downtime, on the condition it comes back online with all reports processed?

If that is your biggest problem, i'm sure you can find volunteers for that. Keeping the servers up and the code running with future updates of LFS was what i was thinking you had trouble with.

Quote from s2knott :wow of all times for their site to be down..... the fanatec site is not working!!! this is an outrage! up until now i was in love with the 911, everything worked great! and now literally 10 days later its busted.

and the craziest part is that, when i plugged the wheel in again today, the base becomes extremely hot to the touch and smells like an electrical meltdown, i honestly believe if i left it plugged in over night, it would kill me.....................

should i expect this from a nearly $400 steering wheel.

Off course not. I have a cheap wheel that is on power 24/7, and it doesn't smell or smoke. You could also contact the shop where you bought it.
Quote from oqvist :Website wasn´t down for me the last day? As mentioned mail them they will take care of it of course.

Doesn´t sound that strange that it runs hot based on what you described on the first post? Obviously you shouldn´t use it if it behaves like that just RMA it.

^^^ with him. Don't use it anymore.

You could give them the chance to solve it first. You probably have a wheel factored at some mondaymorning.

This happened today in the one street i need to take from home to work. The truck hit a car and two parked cars (in one of those car a man was just putting his child in the childseat and seatbelt. Nobody got hurt, although one man in one of the cars passed out for a minute) and the busdriver thought he could drive around it.

What is the point of my post? That stupid drivers don't need a roundabout to do stupid things

Quote from ATC Quicksilver :I remember running into walls and lampposts and cutting my car in half, endless fun. LFS already has an okay damage model, it just needs to have parts that break off when they get too damaged.

It has the deformation, but it could use small dents and indeed parts falling off. And wings that break of instead of bend, but i believe that is on the to-do list

Quote from squidhead :This is the most overused scene that has been ever remade in LFS, that's one. This movie is not made by you, but was made by Smurfen, AND IT'S A REPOST, that's two. This already had a negative review from me, that's three...

3 strikes and you fail, Minivan

I too have the feeling i have seen this movie before. But he doesn't say he made it, in fact he does not say anything.

Quote from Liquid Li0n :A seperate Belgian version is not really necessary. You can better say a Flemish version.

But I checked the Nederlands.txt and the help_Nederlands.txt file and improved it with some more dutch words. e.g. Replays is changed to Herhalingen and also some little typo's I've updated.

But I also saw that the "autocross" and "commands" files aren't yet translated in to Dutch... we can start translation that aswell.
Also I'm wondering where to find, or where to upload, the little countryflags find in the game where you change the language.

I'll hope you like this updated files and hopefully will see them when the new patch will be released.

Maybe it's a Flemish thing, but i can't really call a replay from a game a "herhaling". It's not the same thing.

That Porsche wheel looks pretty good ... except the logo in the center. Any car logo in the center of wheel ruins it up. Totally ... Are there any prices released? Im lil bit intrested

Yes, and 900° rotation, it's basicly the Porsche 911 Turbo Racing Wheel with cheaper parts.

For me too. I have a SD tv and mostly download movies in Divx format because i have a nice player for that (Popcornhour)

[small edit]Don't you mean " <1gb "
