Quote from Botswanan Salama :"The use of button clutch is not allowed during the events. Drivers shall use auto clutch or, if they use H-shifters, axis clutch. Drivers found to have used the button clutch during the event will be excluded from the session."

I'm asking the same thing as Nova last year. Does this mean that you can manually press the clutch only at the start of the race and when leaving the pit stand. Otherwise you can use manual clutch only if you use a H-shifter too, right? I just want this to be clear as I have now witnessed that some people do use manual clutch even when auto clutch is set to "Yes" and they benefit from it.

Yes, I was asking if when set Auto clutch to Yes, would we still be allowed to press a key assigned to the clutch. This would override the autoclutch as you clutch in before you hit the gear.

Quote from IsaacPrice :Can't speak for others of course, but back in 2011 people using clutch on downshifts in XRR was a thing too. But when I tried it, I didn't find it gave me any laptime advantage even though obviously it changes the balance under braking. Sort of like blipping, but more control using the throttle to do this rather than a clutch button.

For the first question earlier about benefits or why one would go around pressing Clutch, I think its a memory thing. I've raced with BC in lfs since I first started out and its something both my fingers, brain and driving style have grown accustomed to, with using BC. If I were to ditch the manual clutch in and just tap the shift up and down keys with auto clutch, I would lose gear sync and the clutch dies in 4 corners (lol)

Also, you cannot really time the throttle blip on downshifts when you have auto clutch. You will need the gear button, clutch and of course throttle. With auto clutch the clutching is instant along with the gear shift (depending on your button rate), which doesnt leave any clutch on-off where you would usually dump the throttle. Also, with keyboard or mouse controls, we already lose the ability to apply throttle and brake in increments, hence each person would have grown accustomed to his or her own button clutch and shift style and button rate speed, which is why when you put Auto clutch as the rule to follow all it really does is screw everyone who has been racing with BC.

Second question about clutching the XRR - similar to the above, the braking with mouse or kb means theres no axis or as gradual of a control of application. With the xrr being a squirmy car on the rear, on certain ocassions when we feel the rears lock on the brakes and cause axle tramping or skipping on the downshifts, we blip the XRR with clutch to eradicate it. Not saying that's faster, its not. Just that I rather not skid off into the gravel.

Quote from gu3st :One thing I'd note about your post is that iRacing has made a lot of strides to be not quite as snappy. It's a bit more snappy than LFS is, but much more forgiving than it was 1 year ago.

Yep. In that post I was just using iR and other sims as a comparison since trying to explain everything using words is kind of a .... mouthful in many terms (d'oh!)

Quote from kart-36 :Will we be using the new layout that was on the server last night? Looked a lot better and drove better too

Yes, we should be using the new Boothy. Unless kerbs got nicked by pirates overnight Tongue

The old Boothy will remain on Pre Q for consistency as the session began with it.

You can also find my crusade against the handling model (mainly the rear slip angle and lack of mechanical front grip) and how I've exploited the car characteristics to force cars to behave like their IRL counterparts (or at least how they should be have if you go "by the book").

Quote from Flotch :Last big update of South City or Kyoto have taken at least 3 months before we can have a look ... Fern Bay is requiring maybe lots of time aswell (I would bet on more ...) due to its 'level' ... so before end of June would have been very optimistic simply based on what we have seen through progress reports ! But anyway, surprises are always welcome !

The last update I can give for sure is that a about 6 months ago I got assurance that I would be able to run a second full season of the custom Layout Racing League without an update wrecking the layouts (i.e location and geographic changes).

Not much else I can disclose (well not much more actually), but I would guess that we will be close to knowing when things will be done by the end of this year, and the formal update possibly fall next year. I have trust in the team Tongue

LRL heads to the fast life in the GT3 cars around the fast flowing Mid Town circuit in New Zealand for what was to be an exciting race from start tofinish

Qualifying

Setting a lap around the fierce track is one thing, but making it a good one is another. Qualifying appeared to be a head to head duel between Team Rock Racing's Trespasser and Race Green's Mandula, both swapping top times as the session went on, only for SIDUS's Gabor to snatch pole position when it mattered, by the smallest of margins over to 2nd and 3rd. With minimal track time or practice, TC-Racing's Adam put in the lap of his life to put himself 4th, ahead of experienced and quick driver Pickard, who could only manage 5th. MRc's Firestone qualified 9th on his debut to the championship while Maciek for the second Race Green machine rounded out the top 10.

Race

With a cloud of uncertainty over tire choice, the race got underway with the top 4 drafting away by the end of the first lap, leaders running side by side into the final corner before settling down with Trespasser coming out on top. Further back, a clumsy incident saw Pickard spin around L.Rydh, sending the latter back down the order, only to be collected and rolled 2 corners later by Jereloco.

As the race drew on, it was clear Trespasser had the pace to maintain his lead, however, Mandula was giving him a run for his money, closely following him for the majority of the first stint. Gabor held off Adam for 3rd, although some intense battling between them and Pickard produced some nail biting action. Firestone found his way past WCL's Soini and was in a brilliant 6th after a storming start, but would soon receive a Drive-Through Penalty for a chat infringement before losing connection; a disappointing result for what was a great potential.

Fast forward a couple of laps, and Adam had passed Gabor for 3rd, only to shuffle backwards behind Pickard in 5th after a mistake. The battle for 7th and 8th between Jereloco and Maciek carried on for a few laps before Maciek pitted for the undercut, which would result in a positional swap. Lap 18 saw Rydh crash out of a recovery drive in 11th, rolling in the final corner and bringing out the Safety Car, which bunched up the field and saw some drivers take a their compulsory pit - with Trespasser retaining his lead for the restart and fending off his rivals to claim a brilliant 2nd win in Season 2!

I would like to print the entire forum thread. The thread is called Cars we wanna see in S3 and it spreads across 100 pages with 50 posts per page.

In user settings I can't choose more than 50 posts per page. Is there a way of hack to increase this number?

Regardless of the size of forum thread, is there a way to print or display it in one web page?

Are you gathering this data for the purpose of noting down car models to implement in another game? Or perhaps copying the forum layout?

Anywho, this is a large waste of paper; again, why? Lol

Can you define "stuck in map different others"? Do you mean different track? Like Blackwood or Aston?

Or do you mean that your car is on track but others see you in the pit lane?

Quote from IsaacPrice :Unfortunately it seems likely I will miss the last round of the season (as I will be racing in the official Le Mans 24hr Race on rFactor 2 on that day). It's a shame because I've been really enjoying the series and would have liked to finish the championship, but obviously this is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

I would like to thank all the guys who made this series possible, drivers and the organisers/commentary team. I was a bit sceptical about the format but I've been proved wrong. 3 races in and 3 awesome races. Have to admit I've been a bit lucky to have managed to win all 3 of them.

Even with minimal updates LFS is still a lot of fun, which wouldn't be possible without the community. The broadcasts especially are really good to watch IMO.

I will definitely watch the last round where I can Smile

Best of luck, go win it Big grin

Quote from kart-36 :Like I’ve said multiple times, I moved across to defend from you have already been on the right hand some I came across to take my racing line as you have 10cm on me doesn’t warrant me giving you space. Again, let the officials decide mate. I no you’re a far superior driver to me with much more race craft and racing intellect so I hope it works out for you.
Cya next round.

Appreciate the sarcasm, and no, you moved 3 times, to the right, left, then left again.

Akin to your liking to move on from this conversation, I'll see you next round.

Quote from kart-36 :The ‘good job you did back out...’ is sarcasm. I actually didn’t realise that your nose was there and we barely even touched. The move definitely wouldn’t have happened would it, you’re gonna go round the outside of me into a practically flat out corner? I think not. Anyway, like I’ve said let the officials decide.

Erm... I did just that earlier in the race...
And going off how you describe your situational awareness, you're trying to justify yourself that if an attacking car's nose is not alongside you're permitted to weave about like a drunk? Oh please lol

Quote from kart-36 :

I'm mainly annoyed that you tried to justify and relate your blocking by accusing my driving of being unnecessary; what do you know to judge?

"You’re defending for your life whilst in 7th place with a faster car behind(...)", "If you didn’t defend in the same manor as I did 2 laps prior I would have let it slide.". "(...) just that if you want to move about etc then I’ll do the same."

That put me off because no where did I do "defending in the same manner" as you. And then now you're trying to change the topic and make me look stupid for bringing up something you apparently didn't.

Snippet of the blocking (baring in mind you already weaved right in front of my nose twice prior,)
https://clips.twitch.tv/CloudyHomelyHorseJKanStyle
I don't know. What does everyone else think? Lol

And I find it funny you need to actually attempt to defend yourself with "good job you did back out of the move that was never going to happen(...)". You okay mate? I was getting a slingshot out of Turn 12 and you started blocking. Do I need to remind you to only move once? Maybe if you did only move once then the move I planned into T13 would have happened. But we know how that all went.

I was just expecting a casual sorry for what was a really dumb move I would have let it slide by now. The fact that you made contact out of T11 (which in itself already gave me a shock because you had so much space inside) and then proceeded to block the hell out of me was just very irritating, plus the fact you haven't admitted your wrongdoing.

Perhaps it was because I was trying to both defend as well as not make a repeat of Westhill where I ended up back in 16th (not that it mattered, yes, I flat spotted the rear tires after spinning out on Piropo's out of control car, that's why I didn't make the no-stop work).

Whatever, let's just move on. Not that anyone likes a mid pack driver who defends hard and fair anyway.
And yes, thanks for the battle while it lasted, I enjoyed it a lot actually

Sorry, what? My defending was as bad as yours 2 laps prior? Please, show me. I had to sit through the replay and I didn't see myself blocking you nor weaving as excessive as you did. Perhaps if you wern't pissed by others a few laps earlier you'd be calmer when racing with me, but then again I expected a hard fight and I give hard fights to everyone I see. Bare in mind my original no-stop strategy before you comment on the purpose of my driving. I was entitled to defend the position to the line as does anyone who is on the closing stint of a race.

In no way did I block you or did dirty driving - on the lap prior (or 2 laps prior) you did a fantastic dummy move and sent it up the inside and we had a good battle worthy of the commentary - was there a problem with me only leaving you one cars width into turn 2? You shouldn't expect everyone to bow out of the way, unless you have been so accustomed to be in a leading position that you haven't developed the racecraft to understand that my defending was just fine.

Again, I don't think I need to leave you a house's worth of space on the inside into T2, but I still left you some anyway and you didn't take it either. I don't know what you are on about - perhaps recollection of the earlier incidents into Turn 3 divebombing and shoving with the other FZR could help you remember. Or perhaps the rejoin onto the racing line weeks ago back at Westhill.

I think I'm done arguing here.

/edit

Even if I do sometimes weave (only like twice today actually) gently to break the tow or their run when the car is far enough behind, barely in the draft - I'm not that daft to weave and block when the nose is virtually already alongside and the car behind is already trying to pass - you caused the contact and I had to back out in order not to spin you; in hindsight, seeing your reaction now I should've done exactly that.
