I didnt get passed once when i did a endurance kart race and was catching and passing loads of racers, however, i was part of a team of 4, so we got thrashed overall!
my 6800 runs at just under 60deg and gets to about 73deg under load. its a plain old XFX 6800 128Mb.
it has the fan it came with, would it be worth my while putting some paste on there too? is the fan easily removed?
i seriously dont want to mess my GFX card.....but im reasonably competent at this stuff seeing as i build my pc from the ground up.
on another note, how much difference does 'resetting' the thermal paste on the CPU make?
mine used to run at 40deg, and is always at about 49deg now.
ive got a new fan on the way anyway, but i take it this creep in temperatures is just caused by the paste degrading and some dust. (i hoover out my case now and again )
if i aint racing on LFS, im racing on my bikes....the pedal kind!
see my signature link below for my badass mountain bike.
ill have to add my road bike to that.........its got uber skinny slick tyres for 50mph flesh/lycra tearing downhill sprints!
figures quoted may not be entirely acuarate! 48mph is my tops so far, then my vision was so blurred from my eyes watering, i thought i better slow down to see the next turn!
But, the LFS devs have already decided how they are going to make this game for their own reasons. Somehow i dont think you will be persuading them otherwise.
IIRC S2 is meant to be nearly complete physics for that racing that is available at the moment.
Other physics for things such as wet racing will be in S3 i think.
Was the main plan for S3 not just to increase content and features rather than physics?
I know its not as good, but its as realisitic as it can be (sorta!) on the Playstation. It might be hard for people to play, but its highly popular.
LFS could create and fill this market on the PC. IMO it is one of the easiest games to 'jump in and go'. And with its ease of internet multiplayer there is no reason it cannot become the racing simulation equivalent of World of Warcraft.
but to input cars in the first place the '+' is already used. i guess this could be swapped with another symbol. that would mean if you didnt just want to just add/subtract cars you can still input them.
im not sure if it is related to this, but it sounds similar. LFS would just hang, and then eventually come back. i have no idea what caused it, but it never used to happen until recent patches? its very rare that it does hang anyway.
like bob says, i presumed it was something in the background, but it wasnt anything i could see popping up. myabe just an annoying process
Now, with my old wheel, a thrustmaster, catching a slide was very easy for this reason. The steering would go light and allow you to easily feel where the wheels should be pointing to take you out of the slide.
However, with my MOMO, this isnt the case. I feel as though i have to fight the FF too much to correct as well.
anyway, ive tweaked my settings. will see what happens.
I like the idea of there being a car that is fixed in setup. But this isnt realisitic in real life racing.
The closest i can think to where everyone races and is equal, and no setup changes are made, is basic karting.
When you goto a kart centre, all they do is change the fuel load depending on the race length.
I know these karts are pretty basic, but they are tremendous fun! Maybe a slightly more powerful kart could be introduced along with a specific kart track. There are very minimal setup changes that can be made on this level of kart, so it really would be a test of skill. And after all, dont most real racing drivers get recognised for their skill at this level?
I know this wouldnt really give high speed racing or anything, but tbh you dont need that on a nice small windy track. As has been proved, IMO, on some Autocross servers where you race your mates against the clock on a tiny little track. [dSRC] Northern Heights has been running a great little AX setup, with everyone enjoying lapping in the UF1 and learning new lines to get faster times.
Substitute UF1 for a good Kart and it would be tremendous! Eliminate major variation in setups and skill will become even more apparent. Even on the UF1 setups can make quite a difference.
Physics are the same for S1 and S2, Thus setups for the same cars will be perfectly compatible. The ONLY difference between S1 and S2 is the content you unlock.
That is unless your running the OLD S1, i.e. with black windows. Is it still possible to run OLD S1 online?
well like i said, i am interested in what it being done too, and hype is good for publicity. i maybe should have said: too pressure from people isnt welcome. it just seems to be and endless cycle.
all im saying is we have just had the most recent patch, so putting more pressure on now is a little much.
