Get riding it a few times before you do the 100mile race! That will be.....fun!?
The most I've ridden in one day is 100miles as well. I stupidly cramped near the end because I forgot to keep drinking...even though my camelbak still had water in it!
While this thread shows a strong presence of 'old' drivers, I think we are all kinda guilty of what has happened, and we are now 'moaning old gits'.
We all got bored and disappeared. Things changed. InSIM and CTRA and wotsit called applications that kick you before you are even on the track.
Now we come back and want everything the way it used to be. Sorry what? Things would never have changed if most of us had kept interest and stayed put. I would still be racing every other night, and religiously on a Friday night with my dSRC team mates.
In reality, there is absolutely nothing stopping us from continuing to race the way we used to. Like dodo said, all it takes is for a few reputable servers & teams to step up and put on combos and admin like we used to.
Easy? yes. Old boys still moaning?...probably Will I start racing again? no, not unless I'm back in the UK with my wheel!
What sort of entertainment are you looking for exactly?
Where will you be staying?
If you are staying in the City centre (~2mile radius around the twin towers) then there is plenty of bars/clubs/restaurants if that is what you are after.
Tourist stuff that is easy to get to in and around KL includes:
The Twin Towers (you have to arrive early to get your free ticket)
Batu Caves (20min taxi drive out of town)
The Aquarium
Elephant Sanctuary (I haven't been to this, but I've been told it's good - not sure how close to town it is.)
Shops x10,000,000.....
That's just a brief outline. I'll be in KL in February So I might be able to show you around a bit. As long as I'm not travelling with work I'll be happy to help you out.
Darn, I really enjoyed his books. I didn't even know he was ill.
Mike, I totally agree. While his books were quite often heavily classed as SCIENCE fictions, they were always great to read and brought interesting a new concepts to the fore and packaged them in a good story.
I'll have to catch up and read some more of his books that I haven't read.
Snap...apart from the 'I still play it to this day' part
Last time I did play though was against you & dSRC dudes I remember doing OK...but getting humped in HL2 by Kryten & you afterwards...(Ok you thrashed me in Q3 too!)
I remember reading an article about Berwick-upon-Tweed too. It was discussing with the locals about whether they felt more Scottish or English, and questioned them if they thought they should be a part of Scotland.
Can't quite recall how it turned out...but surely it is fairly obvious they all wanted to be Scottish...after all, doesn't everybody?
It does however, obviously, severely limit their availability. I see no need why anyone, other than the armed forces or possibly game-keepers should require a gun. If people want to hunt with guns...well, tough luck. They can kill a deer 1001 ways without a gun.
I have stayed in Texas as well, and heard the 'right to bear arms' argument several times. While I can understand it and see where they are coming from, it does nothing to solve the problem and only escalates the problem.
Back to the UK. OK, a small minority of criminals have guns, and knives are quite widespread also, but because the public doesn't have the capability to buy guns for 'defence' then the problem doesn't escalate.
