you have an ATI card so im not sure. for LFS you need to use your GFX card profiler to set it up for the LFS.exe

maybe an ATI user can tell u how.

IMO anything over 35-40 is easily very playable.

I have a similar-ish system, here is my benchmark:
No:User:Ver:CPU:RAM: Graphics card:AA:AF:Avg FPS: Min:Max:
31 bogey 0.5Q A64 3000+ 1024 GF 6800 (128) -- 42.1 39 27 64

sorrys it is a bit muddled but in the right order.

check out http://lfsbench.iron.eu.org/ to compare your speed. obviously it is dependant on your GFX settings. the charts on that site are only for MAX and MIN settings.

Quote from FPVaaron :Maybe it's one of those brain twister things where you need to figure out what he means before you can help him.

that might make a good movie

i think it may be best if another Hungarian LFS user can help out or be a middle man in resolving his problem. im not really aware of any hungarian players, so if somebody is, maybe you could drop them a PM to help out

If i am not mistaken, you want a card that specifically had HVS-Hardware Vertex Shading. The helps performance in LFS alot.

Now, im not sure about the other cards you mentioned, but I think the Voodoo3 is generally one of the first cards to feature HVS, so should be a good card for your system. You might want to check its specification if you can find it.

However, you should be aware that the biggest limiting factor in LFS is the CPU. So you may be bottle-necking already, in other words you might not see that big a difference. Having said that, you have on-board GFX! So you should get a reasonable increase in FPS

Quote from Smax :Sorry Deggis no, I tried to Shazzam it, but didn't get a hit...I'd guess it's "incidental" music written for T.V

Anyways got a new one for ya....this seems to have come out of Sweden, wherever it's from it's about some fruit who's flung a bit too much power at an old shed of a Volvo. Turned it into a proper turbo nutter b*****d seems it goes sideways quite nicely.

yeah, its just one of those things to add to the list. plus im sure it wouldnt be too hard to implement.
Customisable HUD

Im not sure if something like this has been mentioned but i checked the suggestions list and couldn't see anything similar.

This is largely a feature that would help those of us who dont use cockpit view. I myself use cockpit view.

What I propose is a customisable HUD, but this can apply to all views.

Basically, items on the screen can be individually removed or placed. Items such as the split time could be removed, but you can still see your lap time and total race time. Or any combination of the three depending on your preference.

This basically stems from the fact that I would like to race with a minimalist HUD. At the moment, cockpit drivers can do this by using Shift-F, but doing this on bumper cam is a little bit too sparse! I would like to be able to have just the Gear, Revs and Laptime available, with only the gap times with positions popping up at the splits.

So basically everything and anything has an option to be switched on/off as well as positioned manually. I belive NFS4 had a similar feature

Hope this all makes sense!

Quote from KiDCoDEa :stupid or not it should be added sooner or later for the exact reason it exists in real life in some series.
therefore as option for any host, and as fixed for series that use it irl.

i agree.

although it might seem nicer to have more balanced cars, that isnt really realistic. ballast would be able to balance the cars, and also balance out different racers in a tournament to maybe mix it up a bit.

btcc use ballast, but im not sure what the rules are as to how it is applied and how much is used.

im sure it is a future feature that the devs have considered anyway.

Quote from tristancliffe :Doesn't the message box that pops up tell you? I find I can't miss it

fair enough, i didnt have the pop-up box ticked. but this could also be affected by pop-up blockers could it not?

anyway, some colour would be nice

@tristan: oh btw, your new avatar is sooo 2005 like bob says! and it makes you look a bit like a chav! which you obviously arent seeing as you are mr minted and actually participating in higher education.
Suggestion: Private Message Visual Alert

Just a small suggestion for when we receive a PM from another user on the forum.

It would be good if the PM box at the top right of the forum page changed colour to alert the user that they have a PM. I find it very easy to miss messages when all that happens is a 0 changing to a 1.

On RSC and dSRC forums that PM box has been adapted so that when you get a message it becomes highlighted. So it is very nice and obvious

Would be handy if that could be implemented here too.

Thanks

Quote from B2B@300 :When you hold your racing line on the road and wonder why people look at you funny when you go out wide on entry then hit the appex finaly going out wide on the exit again (mounting the curbs ) an a multilane road or roundabout

When you look for the custom view option in the car owners manual so you can drive from a central position

Nobody does that on roundabouts, and they are soo slow! I always think "take the racing line noob!"

When you start to think 'what speed/gear can i take this corner' rather than 'ooh, im over the speed limit'
