edit: WMP is all garbled and messed up too its like green or so massively interlaced that the picture it totally obscured. eh, it just randomly flips the screen and turns it green!
This is mainly for those of you who use the Talktalk Broadband service.
LFS now works perfectly OK now. After several phone calls to Talktalk they eventually unblocked the port 63392 at my request. So those of you who also have this service should also be back to normal.
Basically the story was that the ISP restricted ports in the 6000 range (or something like that) to limit the use of P2P software, unfortunately LFS was caught up in this range.
My bro ran LFS on Linux for ages. Everything worked fine under WINE, but unfortunately Forcefeedback is currently not support in WINE IIRC.
There should be some threads about this over on RSC, my bro did quite a bit of work even getting his wheel to work. I will get him to find the links if you are interested.
At the moment though, my bro has a copy of WinXP running on a seperate hard-drive just to run LFS. Windows 98 used to work fine too until he upgraded his PC to dual core etc. So a bare-bones Windows system is often the easiest solution to make sure everything work for LFS. You would just need to switch between OSs.
Maybe the mods will add them to the forum? It would save confusion in some instances.
One suggestion, maybe apply some colour to them? IMO they probably don't stand out enough when on the page. Maybe use a mid/dark blue similar to what Ian.H uses for his standard 3D scenes? Or just some neutral colour to help them stand out a bit, but without making them too dark!
The wall corner in-between the back straights on FE-Green. It is challenging in any car as they all take it so differently. Sometimes you have to lift, and others you just keep floored It is a little tricky to see the apex, but its also fast enough to be a bit challenging...IMO.
Um, I don't use McAffe so I have no idea how to open that port using that software. Someone probably will, else you better read the instructions or just have a bash yourself.
By 'hosting a server' I mean that your PC is the server that everyone connects to as you are hosting a race. This means that people must be able to see and communicate with your server through the 63392 port. In LFS you would goto 'Multiplayer' then 'Start New Game' and you would have 'internet' selected at the top. It also lets you select the port in this window. That screen allows you to configure your server and then run it.
I think this is just what is needed as a central anti-wrecker system. Properly and diligently used by server admins I think it will be a faily useful tool.
This thread could even do with some exposure in the main section IMO.
you now have two threads which sound like you have missing files. I think your best bet is to re-download the LFS Patch, or the whole thing, and re-install it.
