A packed screen with lots of cars on high detail will usually drop to 20-30FPS during first corner carnage. Average racing FPS for me is around 50-60 because I have v-sync on.
And just so you know, i have a pretty similar system to you.
I'm not sure if this should be in here or in Vic's AutoX thread but here we go...
Could it be made possible to send your last used setup?
The reason I ask is because during the AutoX challenge on Vic's server nobody was able to exchange setups as usual, as you are either spectating or racing, and when you are racing you dont have time to send a setup.
So if possible, it would be handy for the last used setup to be cached so that you can send it while spectating after your race. This would also save people from having to re-join a normal race server if they just wish to spectate.
I think LFS does generate the heavy handling and understeer, but ATM these seem to be the only minor disadvantages which can be remedied in other areas of the setup. Thus there is no real penalty in adopting an unrealistic setup.
I think he means the way in which it acts with regards to the handling is wrong.
Im no expert, but other people have stated that locked-diffs should jump and skip around alot and also be incredibly difficult to handle. However, LFS seems to make them perfectly smooth at least, although they do make the handling harder but more stable.
Yep, my old volvo 340 (ahem) was rear wheel drive and it skipped about loads at the rear when you spun the wheels up.
It was a combination of things such as the driveshaft, but it was mainly just due to the rear tyres and rear suspension skipping when wheel spinning. Leaf springs made it worse
i still take racing lines round roundabouts only when it is clear though, and i never drive on the other side of the road to cut a corner unless i am 100% sure it is clear.
Sounds like quite an up-heaval for LFSW, but in the long run for skinners and for the ammount of data transferred and stored at LFSW it sounds quite a good idea.
The only downside is the added slight complexity.
Maybe this suggestion deserves a seperate thread Paul?
The only thing that annoys me is the ammount of coverage...basically that there is none.
In UK it is only on ITV....4! What channel is that..pfft! It used to be on BBC2, then Channel 4 for a while, but now its been dumped to some half-bit channel that you have to search for! :P
However, in terms of press coverage, other than the current LFS users and fans going by word-of-mouth I think LFS will continue exactly as it is just now.
So far I think the majority of reviews and press have been simply due to LFS's sheer popularity and reputation. No other developers would have reviews and press releases of their 'incomplete' work. However, due to the way that LFS is uniquely funded and developed it does attract a small ammount of coverage to keep the community and the devs going.
BUT!! When the devs think LFS is ready though I believe it will be a different story. The LFS PR machine will go into overdrive when the LFS devs release their completed shining glory
This is an automated system, so I would say take care in your next few races. I would also doubly insure that your system IS password protected so that your brothers do not end up getting you a ban.
To be honest, there is nothing the devs can realistically be expected to do to save you from being banned. It is YOUR responsibility to ensure that your LFS account is looked after and that those who use it also act responsibly.
