maybe, just maybe, this is a misunderstanding between two racers that has been blown out of proportion.
generally IRL indicating a certain way means you are moving that way, BUT in racing many people signal the side on which they want someone to pass.....so it is very easy to be confused.
The muppets are excellent! Not sure what that characters name is though
edit: It's Sam the Eagle. Is there anything Wikipedia doesn't know
My connection - 1Mb down / 256Kb up - TalkTalk ISP.
Usually a 40-60ms ping for dSRC servers and most other european servers.
Also, like many other people are saying, 56k worked perfectly well for me in LFS, although I never had it with auto Skin downloading. Wonderful netcode.
I agree with that too. I always knew about the German leagues, but somehow ESL UK didn't really show up on the radar much. Sure if you knew and talked to the right people you would know about it (like I do from my team mates), but otherwise your average LFS racer might not have a clue it exists.
In my experience, I have read about alot less of league races since LFS-World changed format. The old LFS-World used to be my gateway to LFS-News and reading race/league reports. TBH it is my own fault for being lazy and not checking the likes of LFS-News and the league sections on this forum.
IMO, the biggest factor for most people, and myself, is that they think they aren't fast enough and that only aliens can apply. It is mostly the fact that these are 'official' tournaments that makes them a bit daunting too.
As I said in my reply on the ESL forum, if there were more grids for a wider ability of drivers this might even the field, but i understand this isn't possible until you ahve enough drivers in the first place.
Anyway, I am interested, and I am sure a few of the mid-pack dSRC guys would be too. ATM I am holding out from joining these more official leagues until I finish uni, then I will probably enter and practice alot more.
Another reason I havent joined a league so far, is that I have a good clean and competitive team in which I race already.
i am pretty sure you are allowed to run 2 PCs unlocked on a LAN. i have certainly done so in the past (maybe even with 3 ). but as you say, both will not be able to run online at the same time. you would get the error message 'user name already online' or something to that effect.
most of this is detailed in the rules on the LFS home page im sure.
it would seem the drivers have burned a hole in the seat as well.
must have been an awesome curry
i hope something gets adjusted to make the drivers fit properly. if most of the sizes in LFS are real world values and to scale, then it makes me wonder why the models dont fit together in the first place?
i think that is something to do with the draw distance at which the detail levels change. or it might be something to do with AA/AF, i think AF setting work differently the further away things are.
either way, it is just because your car is sitting bang on the detail change line, if you were to drive closer to the camera im sure it would be ok.
one thing to prove this is to drive towards the camera in a GTR, see how close you have to be before the bonnet pins appear.
Back OT: If I weren't in my final year at uni I would be willing to write stuff, like a LFS diary or something. Possibly just have features like 'Best forum Quotes', and also include some of the more popular discussions or expectations.
Instead I have to program microcontrollers! weeeeeeeeeeee!!! pop (head explodes) :insane:
I cant comment on software firewalls, as im using my router/modem/firewall for those purposes.
but as for anti-virus, i have always used and will continue to use AVG anti-virus. it tells you when updates are available by changing its icon to greyscale in the system tray. its an install and forget piece of software really. i recommend it anyway, and its free.
