He got banned temporarily after that stupid quarrel he had with Pearcy in the "Post your bike" thread. I guess he decided it wasn't worth coming back anymore. I don't think he's raced since, either Maybe he got another account to start with a clean slate :hide:
I don't care if all your little numbers and benchmarks say that Win7 is ten times slower than Vista, it still runs better and faster and uses less resources on my pc. And no, that's not just my impression, numbnuts. The fact that most people seem to experience the same thing leads me to believe that all your "facts" and benchmarks are absolutely worthless. You believe what you will and use the OS you want, but stop trying to convince people Win7 isn't a significant improvement over Vista because it is, no matter what figures, websites and benchmarks you come up with.
@BB - Again, despite everything you say, my experience is that Win7 does boot faster and does run more stable. You can rattle about numbers and supposed "facts" all you want but my experience tells me Win7 is better and nothing you can say will change that Of course, there's plenty of people where Win7 runs worse than Vista, so obviously they'll be better off sticking with Vista.
That being said, I don't think it is worth upgrading to Win7 if you have purchased Vista. But I haven't purchased Vista. In fact I've never purchased any OS seperately. Win7 will be the first one I buy, because I like it that much
Oh I don't know what shady practices are going exactly, perhaps "shady" wasn't the right word I guess (hope?) the worst that can happen is they sell your data (name and e-mail addy) to advertisers who then bombard you with spam mail. Which isn't the end of the world, to be sure. And if you get a free iPod or an Xbox out of it then it might even have been worth it
That's all I'm gonna say on the subject, though, I don't want to start a flamewar or be a scaremongerer. You all have access to internet, you can all do your own reading and then make up your own minds. I made mine up based on the stuff I read, you're all free to do the same
After doing some searching and reading on different sites and fora I regret signing up with this shady site I won't be touching it anymore (even though the damage has probably already been done by signing up)
Regardless of everything you just said, a lot of people seem to think Windows 7 is a lot better than Vista. And I'm one of them. I used Vista for quite a while and was actually pretty happy with it, but Windows 7 really does feel a lot better than Vista ever did. It's just a lot nicer to work with overall. It boots faster and uses less resources, too, and it seems to run more stable than Vista for me. Plus my games seem to run significantly better on it, but then some people experience the opposite, so... The fact that so many people around the world feel the same way must mean they did something right with Win7, surely?
You're right and I was well aware of that I actually deleted those last 2 sentences and put them back a couple of times, but in the end decided to keep them. I thought I might as well make my own presumptions, unqualified as they may be.
We'll see. It's no secret that LFS' way of handling FFB takes away the greater part of FFB effects, leaving you with a bland feel compared to other sims. Like I said, I am sure the cars' behaviour will improve but I am not so sure the feeling will, too, as I think that isn't so much a matter of physics as it is a matter of... well... code, I guess, whatever it is that creates and sends FFB signals?
I'm actually using FreeBee Hosting, which is free 100% add-free, too, and I haven't had any issues with speed or availability so far. Of course, if you're going to be hosting a corporate site or anything that's gonna get thousands of hits everyday I recommend you get a paid hosting service, but if it's just for some projects you're gonna do then they're more than decent enough. It's what I use it for as well. It's got everything you need.
For a domain I use Co.cc which are also free I used to have a paid hosting service and a paid domain but decided to drop it as it was costing me money and I didn't really get anything out of it
I'm afraid there's not much you can do about people downloading your layouts and then using them on other servers. As for whether or not you have the copyright to them I'll leave for someone else to answer but like I said, not much (ie. nothing) you can do about it. I suppose you could try and ask the server owners nicely to stop using your layouts but somehow I don't think they'll oblige.
You don't know that. I've seen plenty of people here make such statements but the fact of the matter is no one has even the faintest idea how drastically the physics update will change LFS. I'm sure it will improve cars' behaviours but as far as feel is concerned - which is what the OP was talking about - I very much doubt much - if anything - will change. Ie. it will probably still feel bland.
Alright, I signed up as well but damn, it took my like a dozen attempts before it would accept me and then it wouldn't recognize my password and it wouldn't let me change it etc... Now I'm in and it's indeed slow as hell.
So did you get your iPod? And has anyone else actually got something out of this yet? I still have my invitation lying around but I haven't bothered creating an account yet as this still seems a bit fishy to me.
There's a difference between an actual blow out and just a punctured tyre, though. Chances are your tyre got punctured and gradually deflated. I reckon you would hear a proper blow out
I can confirm I had this same problem. I upgraded to AVG 9.0 today in the hopes that it would stop the annoying pop up asking me to upgrade. It did stop the pop up, but my games seemed to minimize for no apparent reason. I uninstalled AVG and it hasn't done it since
