I find it mind boggling that some people dare to complain about having to pay for this new track and a (additional) new car I simply have no words to convey my disgust, so I won't try.
Also, I see people speculating - and whining - that now we will have to wait even longer for a new patch, because the devs say they can't give an estimate on a release date. Call me crazy but I think that only applies to the new S3 patch containing the new track. I think it's safe to assume that we will get another S2 patch containing the Scirrocco and the new tyre physics looooooooong before the first S3 patch (as we probably won't see S3 for at least a good year).
As for the rapid growth of this thread, mostly with litter... that happens every time Scawen makes a post. If he so much as farts on this forum you've got at least a 6 page thread within a couple of hours
Those are all nice arguments and stats but the fact of the matter is that Win7... just runs a hell of a lot smoother than XP I don't care what anyone says Of course it's hard for me to really compare the two as the XP installation I've got is nearly 4 or 5 years old
I always find it funny, though, that people only look at numbers. Of course XP is gonna be faster than Win7 on an identical machine. Just like Win95 will outperform XP on a identical machine. So does that mean we should all go back to Win95, because hey, it's faster!! No, of course not. I find Win7 a lot more enjoyable to work with and that's a very important aspect

Exactly. I think it's pretty obvious that what is meant is that you (ie. the driver) lurches forward due to the car slowing down harder It was just badly phrased.
My girlfriend's car has ~150K km on it and the clutch is still as good as it ever was. A friend of mine has got a car with ~180K km on it and no problems there whatsoever, either.
You mean you use it to take screenshots? Don't most games already have a shortcut to do that? The one thing I would be interested in is the video capturing feature, provided that it works properly with the games I play. I'd love to try and make some video's of exciting races I've had but I could never get Fraps to work
I keep hearing about this Xfire thing but I have no idea what it is. From what I heard from a friend of mine it's something like uhm... a sort of MSN where you add friends and then you can see what games they're playing and join them and whatnot? And you can start a server to be able to talk to one another etc? I honestly don't see how that is so useful but that's probably just me, as I hardly play any games other than race sims Unless there's some awesome feature that I don't know about
You cool it by driving Much like in real life. If you rev the engine while standing still the temperature will rise very quickly. If you end up in a sand trap you're likely to fry your engine if you try to get out of it and don't keep an eye on the temperature gauges.
In the HistorX mod you can choose your radiator size for some cars, for example in setups where your engine tends to get too hot. This isn't possible in the Supra mod, though. If you just race on the track it should never get so hot that it damages the engine.
Seriously, why do you hang around on this forum posting links to your blog? This is a LFS forum and I'm willing to bet my money that you haven't even bothered trying out LFS. Your LFSW stats speak for themselves, which is no surprise. Go advertise your blog somewhere else.
People revmatching in their road car to "save the clutch" are kidding themselves. Clutches in road cars are built to withstand slipping on downshifting and revmatching won't make any noticeable difference whatsoever in the clutch wear. Sure, it may make a tiny bit of difference in the very long run, but you'll never notice it as most people never own a car long enough for the supposedly gained advantage to become apparent.
That being said, I do it myself regularly, too, just out of habit from doing it on the PC, but I'm not kidding myself that I'm saving the clutch that way
And the argument about "unsettling the car" is absolutely hilarious. Unless you're driving your car somewhat near the limit there is no way that downshifting without revmatching will "unsettle" the car. Depends on what you interpret as "unsettling the car", of course. I think some people use that term too easily.
How you can kill the engine after 4 laps is beyond me. Drive it like you're supposed to and you shouldn't have any problems. It is a road car, after all. I'd like to see you drive your real car like you drive this, and see how long that lasts
Double post, but here are some more screens. How come these screenshots look so much worse than the actual game/replay, though? When I'm watching the replay it looks stunning but these screenshots don't do this mod justice at all. Do I have to change some settings or something?
As you can see there was a bit of mayhem, but it was all in good fun, everyone took it in stride and we all just had a blast. Mind you, most of us know each other pretty well and we're on Vent laughing it off.
What's your name in rFactor then? Might be you were on before I joined, though.
And what's your name in rF?
Well, we just had a great night on the FinnglishRacing server. Quite a good turnout, too. Over 10 people at one point on Bathurst, I reckon. That was a blast. There were car parts spread all over the track after a few laps but these cars take quite a beating and everyone just kept going Here's one screenshot of dMrDeetz' car near the end of the 20 minute race Notice the windscreen and other parts flying in the background
We have these little events nearly every friday evening. It used to be HistorX night but I reckon it'll be Supra night at least for the coming weeks As for the tracks that are in the rotation, have a look here. It's quite a list, but every single one of those tracks is really well made, which is why they were chosen.
