I voted "Don't care" but after reading Zeug's post I agree with him. There really is no need for it and you can be sure that people are going to abuse it at some point.
Even if it doesn't come with IE most people will still download and install IE anyway This won't really change anything, IMO. People that don't like IE are usually a bit more computer savvy and won't use IE whether or not it comes as the default browser. And people who hardly know anything about computers will just choose to install IE.
I don't really see it as "having people shoving their products down my throat". I hardly notice ads It would be different if nearly every other site was infested with pop-ups, but a regular ad I usually have no problems with. That being said I do block ads in the browser I have used for years. Lately I've been using Chrome more often, though, and I don't really miss an adblocking feature.
Agreed. I reported him once for blatant trolling in another thread, but to no avail Seems some people can get away with more than others.
On topic... I don't have anything to say as I haven't tried the new FF
Even so I think Nightshift's point still stands. I think a lot of LFS players are looking at and trying out other sims, possibly because they are getting bored with LFS. And while rFactor players may also be trying out LFS I think those numbers are far lower.
That being said, though, you are probably right in that the reason that both rounds were won by LFS players is because they are used to the fairly realistic physics of LFS while the rFactor players were possibly used to faulty and way less realistic physics of a number of rFactor mods.
Anyway, like was said countless times before: yes, the greater part of all rF mods may be utter rubbish, but there are also some really high quality mods available that are really really enjoyable and easily surpass LFS in many areas (IMO).
That's exactly how the Dead Men Racing server is set up: a different combo every week, with sprint races (10 to 15 minutes a race) during the week and a 1hr race on thursday nights to close off the combo. This is a little introduction to dMr. For those who like points we do keep points for the thursday long races, that can be viewed here. You can click on the weeknumber on top to view the results for the combo of that week.
This week's combo is FXR @ FE Gold. Last week's was XRT @ AS Historic. Next week... who knows
I honestly don't remember. The weird thing is that it wasn't always the same message. The only one I remember was "Bad_Pool_Call" (or something like that) but like I said, other times I got something else
Anyway, like I said I just reinstalled my Windows so there's no need for this thread anymore.
It's the off topic section. We've had threads here about pretty much every driving game there is. There are a lot of people here who play - or have played - rFactor and as such might be able to provide some useful comments for Niels, thus possibly enabling him to improve rFactor mods.
Sheesh, some people can be really anal about some things on this board
EDIT: on topic, I got rFactor solely for the HistorX mod and I must say it is great. I haven't played LFS since. I don't have the problem that a lot of people seem to have, the cars feel very right to me and are controllable enough to easily catch a slide if you familiarize yourself with the car. No complaints here!
It was a valid activated Vista but I'm almost certain it's like you said; one of the updates didn't install right.
Anyway, I reinstalled Vista so all is well again except that now I can't seem to activate my Vista anymore because it says that the license key is already in use I have changed my graphics card since my previous install but other than that it's the same computer and the same Vista. I've been looking on the MS site for a link or an email address where I can ask about this problem but haven't really found anything.
Yeah, I don't get that either. I find the cars in the HistorX mod to be very controllable. I just love sliding those classic muscle cars around, it's such a blast. And in some cases it's even necessary if you want to be fast, indeed Powersliding FTW!
I have yet to spend a single cent on an OS and I'm sure as hell not gonna cough up $250 (that I don't have) for Windows 7. I like the way my Vista Ultimate is performing so I probably won't feel the need to upgrade to W7 anytime soon anyway
I downloaded and installed some updates for Windows Vista Ultimate today (I have the automatic Downloads disabled so I check myself every now and then and select what I need), but when my computer rebooted it crashed with a bluescreen within 2 minutes of booting. This keeps happening. Booting in safe mode works. I have reverted the system back to a restore point from before the updates, but the problem persists.
I can boot XP without problems. I have no idea what could be causing this. Any suggestions? Maybe my best bet is to get the Vista CD and use the Repair option or whatever, but then I'd have to go look for the cd in a room full of unopened boxes
I sometimes type random words into the searchbox and enqueue the search results. The first two songs were the result of "black", numbers 3 to 7 were "funeral" and the rest was "devil".
I remember dmwright from a while back, when he purposely wrecked and disobeyed the rules on CTRA1. Then when I said I'd report him he claimed to be new to the system even though he had plenty of laps on his record. Then when confronted with that he just laughed at me. The filed report got him permanently banned from CTRA, but obviously he continued to drive there with his other account(s).
dmwright's credibility = 0. I don't even have to watch the replay of this case to know he got what he deserved. This thread doesn't do his reputation much good, either, I'd say.
No, you have to set it 900 in BOTH the profiler and the .INI.
This mod was designed for wheels using 900°, it will not feel as good if you use less range and yes it DOES make a big difference.
So again, set it to 900° in the profiler, and change the controller.ini file to read
WITH the "".
There is no wheelturncompensation setting as far as I know, and if there is there is no need to fiddle around with it because I didn't.
Make sure you get the adjustable steering lock upgrade for every car you want to drive. That way you can set the amount of lock in the setup if you don't like turning your wheel a lot. I usually use something between 24 and 26 degrees and it feels very good and realistic.
He clearly wasn't interested in iRacing but merely asking which would be the better choice between LFS and rFactor.
Like was said, it's much easier to find online races in LFS than it is in rFactor. If you're looking for offline (singleplayer) races, though, rFactor might be the way to go IMO, but nothing beats racing against other people.
