I don't see how the addition of good tracks would dilute the FLS experience/community/whatever.

I liked the Ky Club, KY long, and both the propsed ASton layouts (south and other). I would n't mind racing them one bit.

Was kicked from a server and am trying to recover the replay of that race (I did not manage to save it). Any ideas how to? I haven't raced any races since then. So perhaps the temp.mpr still exists. I couldn't find it.

Quote from Leprekaun :Hi all! I wanted to make a suggestion if it would be possible to widen S1 tracks (Fern Bay, South City) because when I was racing in the OWRL MRT Cup, the last combo was Fern Bay Gold and tbh, there was quite a lot of havoc. There were 14 of us in a track which I think can only accommodate the maximum number of drivers of S1 (8-11 drivers only) so it would be REALLY awkward to race at Fern Bay with 20 drivers so heres my idea, how about maybe widening the asphalt of the track because if you look at S2 tracks (Aston, Westhill) they're clearly much wider. Just a suggestion that I thought would be useful so that we can reduce the amount of havoc that happens at South City and Fern Bay.

The S1 tracks are designed with the S1 cars in mind (tighter, slower). The S2 tracks are designed with S2 cars in mind (wider, faster).

Have you tried driving the S1 cars on AS or WE tracks? It feels like your driving on an airfield...

I think its good the way it currently is.

I think lfs is the best out of the 2.

I wonder what answer would you get if you ran this poll on the rFactor forum...

Quote from Blowtus :yes. cars should only go orange when they are a lap down, turning orange on the same lap is pointless, imho.

And how would you then differentiate the guys who are under a lap behind and the guys who are coming to lap you.

Seriously, I've seen so many differnet ides for the color coding, we even had a thread on it in the test patch forum, but all ides presented were either not well thought trough or consisted of 10 different colors...

Quote from Hoellsen :Why are you all getting all worked up about public races anyways? They usually last 5-10 laps, which is not really racing, tbh, so just race the next race and forget about it. Will do wonders to your blood pressure.

What!?

Not everybody wants to/can drive 24 hour races ! illepall

Quote from mrodgers :I hate mandatory pit on public short races (the 10 lappers). All it does is break up the racing. If I'm haveing a good battle with someone, I will try to pit at the same time as them so not to break up the racing and end up just boring hotlapping for the remainder of the race. A big problem for me in these mandatory 1 pit races is I'll come in behind the car I'm racing with and not know where they are going to stop. So, there is a chance of hitting them if they stop in an early pitbox unexpectedly or whatever. This is a great idea (been suggested before) and a great solution to that suggestion.

+1 for me!

You should just stop yourself in an early pitbox. That's a very simple solution. If everybody has a "named pitbox" then you still won't know where they will pit and will still have the same problem.

OT: Has anybody been ever taken out by a driver who just finnished his pitstop and you were passing him on the pitlane. I think I'm the only one.

Quote from duke_toaster :RBB - Really bad bump

I'd also like to have the interior of the pit boxes skinnable as well.

Custom suits would be great as well - maybe when pit crews become visible they should be wearing LFSw downloadable suits ...

+1000

Quote from Cue-Ball :While skinnable pit boxes would be cool to see, it seems like an awful lot of coding and bandwidth for something you'll rarely see anyway. I'd much prefer to just retexture the default pit box so I'm not constantly downloading "pit_x" files.

Yeah, but think of the immersion factor - that right there adds a whole heap.

Quote from TagForce :(it's 23 usable characters, Where's the one byte gone?)

Just like you would use brackets on the forum...
^10^
The ^ don't need to be in the username, they can be translated to a binary 'colorcode' of a single byte. There must be some unused bitsequences for characters, so we can precede colors with that bitsequence.
1001cccc = 16 colors.
[XP]-TagForce- = 14 characters.
+^white^ +^red^ + white^ + ^blue^ would make 18 characters...
In the current format my name can have just 1 extra character.
(15 characters + 4 * 2 characters for colors)

People from my country don't have " ^ " on our keyboard. We have " õ ".

However, being able to use more colors sounds cool. i could actually choose the color I want Smile

Quote from nikimere :correct, but they are stockcars in a race. therefore they would have the airbags taken out, and more than likely a racing dash put in.
there are very few racing championships in the world that you will find a car totally as it is when it was driven on the road. considering this is a racing game, all the cars should be as "stock racing cars", not "road cars".

but LFS cars have seats for upto 5 people. Any race prepped car would surely have seats taken out, no?

Well, if you are invited into someone elses house and start screaming about. They tell you to stop it and you don't, you are kicked out and not invited back. If you say you don't care about the people who own the house and you do what you want, then you should never be allowed in again. Is something still unclear?

Quote from Slopi :I patched to V today. Went in and reconfigured my controls and everything, while noticing the second light on the Logitech Momo wasn't comming on when I launched LFS. It had come on yesterday when I launched LFS and everything worked fine, but since the patch it's stopped...

What this means is, though the game sees the each axis on the wheels and pedals, when I drive the car I have no force feedback whatsoever because the wheel doesn't see LFS as a game. I checked and rechecked, everything seems to still be fine as far as the wheel is concerned and I even made a new profile for the controller software for LFS with no results. Everything points to the patch as the issue so far

I have noticed an error when I launch LFS, that error reads exactly:
"DI: SetProperty - Unknown Error"
Besides that, no other erros through windows or LFS. Attatched is my DXdiag report if someone who knows what they're doing needs it. Thanks in advance for any help, until then I'll wait a couple days before reverting to version U.

Reverting to patch U seems to be extreme without even having tried to reinstall the momo software and LFS itself.

Well... First of all, patch V is quite a good thing, I think. Ofcourse, I would not have turned down a new environment

But seriously, 2005 Christmas we got nothing, right? 2004 Christmas we got the "we might be going to beta, oh, actually we are not". 2003 was with the MRT5, right? So its not like recent history has shown that you get a whole lot of crap for Christmas. It's more like, "woops, someone offered us some deal (MRT/BMWF1), we'll just wait til the next holiday/next patch to give it out as a nice present". So you see the trend is not the holidays but the availability of such options...

Still feels like getting clothes for Christmas, though :spin:

Quote from mcintyrej :Hmm, no. You've already got unlimited play on 3 possible tracks with 3 cars. Not to mention online. S2 is so much better than Demo anyway, i think anyone with S2 would back that up - Just buy it.

I would completely agree here. If you like the demo, you'll love the game.

As an off topic - On STEAM they have been offering online games to play for free for 3-5 days (Red Orchestra and The Ship). I honestly thought about buying the Ship before playing the free 5 day trial. Man, did those games suck.

2) you certainly look like you are not afraid of hard work. Perhaps try to help the GP79 team of rFactor with their textures!? Please !? Link :http://www.rfactorcentral.com/ ... fm?ID=Grand%20Prix%201979

Quote from ajp71 :That's a really unfair statement the tracks from he '79 mod need better textures but they are awesome tracks

Aren't the '79 mod tracks WIP? Anyway, it's better to have WIP tracks than no tracks at all. I think theres one guy who likes to create better textures for a lot of rFactor tracks. Perhaps he will make them better. All-in-all, I don't see how anyone can put down the 79 mod - its work thats done for free and it gives us more opportunities to race old cars & tracks, which is great. Looking at a gift horse in the mouth is a no-no, although constructive criticism helps.
