Your theory would be correct in most cases, the converter has probably removed unwanted frequency ranges, much like the Dolby button on old cassette players removed the hiss. Why convert a frequency we don't like or want if it is only going to make the file bigger? It could also be that its not the Wav files that are good quality but the flak files or player that are of poor quality. I think you have been lucky. Go convert them to mp3 and see what happens
That is very very odd. I can't understand why it should get worse just from changing it back.
You could try (if you have good security on your server) putting the IP address of your server into the DMZ to see what happens. I have tried this just so that I can bypass the port settings. I wouldn't leave it in the DMZ but its worth testing. Would like to know of the results.
Forget about the insim port for now, it should not make a difference unless your running an insim remotely and it's only going to add confusion.
Another thing that could make a difference is the actual hardware installed by your line provider? Yes, the actual phone line from exchange to your house. This could be hard for you to answer but what is it made from? The reason I ask is because my house was built during the strikes in the copper mine's here in the UK. The operators were at that time forced to use aluminum for phone cables and these cables cause me a lot of issues. Thank god I live in a cul-de-sac as any HGV that passes by snaps these lines.
Anyone else have any ideas? I myself am a little stumped by this issue.
Yes, I'm dusting off this old thread. ClamWin is very good because its so simple and simplicity is beauty. Its easily downloadable, free and runs very smoothly in the background. It's available on later versions of Ubuntu Live CD or from the ClamWin main page. As for spy ware and other mallicious software, most of them you download yourselfs by accident. There is a good site to name and shame any software that is not as discribed called stopbadware.org where you can submit problem sites. Stopbadware does investigate submissions and trys to action issues in an appropriate mannor. As for a firewall, if your using linux I can highly recomend firestarter, its simple and functional. If you are using windows XP I can highly recomend Jetico PF firewall as again, its simple and functional. I have found that by experance the more popular anti-virus and firewall software like nortons is less functional, slow and simply too "pretty" to complete its task efficently.
Other security software I found to run faster and smoother:
Avast
NOD3
ClamWin
Sygate
Jetico PF
Kerio
Comodo
These all seemed to run fast without chewing up resorces.
Oh, I understand a little more, however, I still have much to learn about this special species. Seems a little like a cross between a Spider (making the girls scream) and a normal student (and to occasionally get drunk/stoned) type rodent. Maybe I should avoid these Boybandus Singerus things, they sound deadly!
You don't think I have told him this? Do you really think your vote is private when each voting slip holds a reference number that can be cross referenced against your name? Maybe alot of people are too naive. It states clearly where I live, unless your asking for my address. I think your just out to stir things up. As I said in my last post, lets agree to disagree and get back to the topic of the thread? And the only thing that's being spouted is the awful use of profanities from your mouth.
Hey BlackKnight. I suffered this problem too a few days ago. However, it looked a little more like this...
New Guest Timed out New Guest Timed out New Guest Timed out New Guest Timed out New Guest Timed out
You get the idea? I wasn't 100% sure what was going on, I'm still not. I decided to try changing my ports to much lower ports. I am now using 29999 for insim and 39999 TCP/UDP. The problem seemed to solve its self in an instant, I can only assume that my ISP (Eclipse) does not like me to use higher ports. Give it a try and see what happens. You can always put it back if it does not solve your issues.
Were not talking about a building stuck outside my house. Were talking about flags. You need to read more of the thread. Sorry but I didn't take pictures of the road signs in slough, its not exactly a very photogenic place. As for the whole vote thing, its not as simple as chucking it in when there is a person between you and it. I know its not legal to tare up a voting slip but I won't vote publicly. Anyone getting bored of this thread yet? Can we start talking about the "Anti-Russian" host again? I have tried to close the subject many times so that we can return to the topic!
How so? What do I do that's so ILLEGAL? Move about my country without having a tracker attached? I don't want to be on databases and that's quite a simple life wish. I have nothing to hide, I earn below the tax threshold, I wont take from the system (even though I am entitled to) and all I ask is to be left alone. If I wanted to be watched I would probably want to live in a zoo enclosure with 3000 visitors watching me eat every day.
This may sound like an odd request. I have been driving on BL3 (CarPark) in a contact game. The object of the game was from restart, trying to crash into each other until there is one moving car remaining. The idea of "last man standing" was put into practice on the carpark. We had a rule that no pitting we aloud and that full contact was. I would like to know if there is any way an insim could be designed for this type of event. I am sure it would be hard or impossible to monitor when only one car remains moving. I am also sure its impossible to monitor who hits who and the result of it, im sure I read about it in another post. The current rules are:
1) Full contact permited from restart.
2) No pitting.
3) No restart until only one car remains in motion.
4) Game/Round over when only one car remains in motion.
5) Four wheels touching the ground (rolling excepted) or your out.
Maybe a very short idle timer to spectate for drivers who are out would help? I am expecting a big NO WAY from everyone, however I am open to ideas if anyone could come up with any. Did I mention this was an odd request?
Another idea that we had was for a game of tag, chasing one car until contact is made and then chasing another.
I did check before starting this thread, however I have found nothing of a similar topic, I hope I am not wrong.
There are many options within LFS to change colours. These include, dashboard displays, some text and even the needle on your speedo. I have a small issue sometimes that parts of the option menu can be considered unreadable, there seems to be no possible way to change the colour of the text in these areas of the menu. With this post I have given an example. I propose to you the possibility of making this text changeable, is it a future development option?
Added/Edited: I forgot to mention that this seems to be different dependent on what monitor you are using, its a lot clearer on my old CRT and harder to read on my FLAT SCREEN

Reason : different monitors
I really don't care, I am beyond care. The name does not matter. I'm 100% sure the MAJORITY of the nation calls it the UNION JACK and as you pointed out earlier over road signs, we cater for the majority in this country. If the majority calls it the UJ then that is what it is. Keep picking all you want, you can't change the majority.
I correct myself, the un-named flag of the United Kingdom. I'm sorry but there is no other name for this flag... unless you know of one? The blue, red and white bit of cloth that hangs from poles? Does it have another name? Its the Union Jack, face the god damn facts.
Yeah, where getting somewhere now. I choose not to let my government have full power over me, I have a right to live in this country without big brother watching me.
I think thats to the point, your picking for the sake of picking.
Hallen, thanks for the info. Some of it I did know and some of it I didn't know. I have watched a few replays and video's but I will admit, not that many. I myself try to use the curbs at BL1, a challenge sometimes that I find rewarding. I can understand some peoples pains about curbs being jumped. I do think that high curbs are a part of the game and if they do damage avoid hitting them.
I used to vote, not much point any more as there is nothing worth voting for. I would be more patriotic but it costs £135 so therefore the free got removed from freedom. There is nothing to be patriotic about, this country has gone to the dogs. Around ferry ports and airports, yes multi lingual road signs are a great idea but otherwise no. This is a forum not a grammar lesson. Its the Union Jack no matter where you are, its still the Union Jack when its on dry land as much as wood is still wood when its painted. There is a good reason the Union Jack was not designed with green in it, its the dame reason we didn't put yellow in it for the scottish. And for the record, in my mind there is nothing remotly dead about the Irish language.
When I was typing lastnight I did get laze, sometimes it happens with me, I get to the point where I'm just not that bothered any more.
Did you know that voting is another way for the government to keep track of your location? Its another way to clamp down on your freedom. No part of voting promotes the freedom that this country is supposed to represent. When there is something worth voting for I shall vote. A local neighbor works the local polling station, he insists on seeing who you vote for before you post the slip, what happened to my right to a private vote?
I can't talk from the experience of S1 and S2 so I vote based on the information that has been presented. I think the chicane in BL1 is perfect. If the other chicanes are less of a challenge they do (in my opinion) need to be re-designed.
I must also agree with Gunn, hitting a curb is part of a race, the curb is a part of the track and every race I have seen involves someone clipping the curbs.
It must be something to do with your setup. My mouse works fine and they all work the same way. I will admit I find it easier when I can see the mouse pointer as I then know the position of the mouse. I will admit that there can be a little difference between some mice but not that much. I recently upgraded to a laser mouse which was a bargain at (crappy shop) PC World, for £20 you can get a great cordless Logitech laser mouse with microgear (MX 620) and with a battery life of approx one year, it reacts better than my old optical, £20 well spent. If your trying to compare your mouse to a wheel then you will always be disappointed. Only reason I went back to a mouse is because I have broken every wheel I have owned, I'm too heavy handed.

Reason : Correction, It was currys, not PC World... even though they are the same company.
Embarrassingly and sadly flymike, our so call country of freedom is not that good. Its a case of you can do anything you like as long as you do exactly what we say. The patriotism is long dead, the system tracks you and its illegal to stay off the system, even though you have the right to move about this country freely. I am on more databases than I will ever know about. It makes me sad as I avoid giving my details, I avoid national insurance and pay for private medical insurance. I dont claim a penny when im not working and wont pay a pound when I am. I'm not on the electrol register (register to vote to you) but still they know where I am. Where is our freedom?
Jesus, I said your correct, its over.... and its about when you can fly the flag, its nothing about the size and planning regulations, do you read something into everything? Not a word there about planning permission having changed. Go contact the sun for the latest copy of planning regulations as approved by Mr ****ing Brown.
