One thing I always wonder about in teh int4rwebs: people being proud of not being able to concentrate long enough to read something that translates to be 2-3 pages of A4 format. AQs if tltr (too long to read) is some kind of medal they award to themselves for suffering ADD...
Now richo, don't get me wrong. I do assume you read completely it and merely summarized it as a service for said ADD crowd. It's just something general I wonder about and nothing aimed at you personally.
Yes i did read the entire post as i have both LFS and iRacing , but seriously was the conclusion ever in doubt as to the OP's taste in sims considering where it was posted?
As to the ADD crowd, well no amount of words will tell you how anything feels until you try it for yourself and why should anyone spend the time persuading you of a choice on way or the other?
That's why it is so much simpler to just state I like LFS it doesnt matter why you like it better as its entirely subjective.
As it turns out i do like LFS better than all the other sims but thats my personal preference and nobody needs to or wants to know that.
25 pages devoted to one German econobox , could you imagine the amount of threads if a truly lust worthy car was introduced to LFS.
All this agro and frustration over a hatchback seems slightly silly, content is always welcomed and appreciated but guys 25 plus pages devoted to a girlfriend mobile ..
We put our money down on unfinished software , it is what it is.
You paid for a work in progress with no clear time line of when it will be finished or if it ever will and i still think most people are ok with that.
But what people want is exactly what they paid for, progress.
There's probably thousands of analogies for how LFS works , like you bought a license to look at an unfinished painting based on the premise the painting would be finished one day and it would cost extra to have new colours etc etc etc.
Anyways thats a long winded way of saying people know what they paid for and its ok to whinge from time to time about what is happening with the work on the product.
I was banned by someone because i asked about the new VW and can i drive it on one of the many versions of The Nordschleife that have been made for LFS now that AE86's have replaced the XRG , i think the server was CTRA something and the guys name was Kid Codea or something like that...
Ok i think i have distilled the last few years of this forum quite nicely..
Maybe not for CTRA exactly, but so small amount for obviously a lot of enjoyment seems like good idea.
There has to massive change in mindset needed in that everything related to the internet is free, personally i think its bloody rude to keep expecting individuals to keep paying for your entertainment , some one pays for that free server with both time and real money.
iRental seems to have plenty of paying customers , sure the experience is different for just a server based setup (CTRA) but so is the cost.So its not totally with out merit.
I never bash demo dudes but you have no right to comment on this one when you cant be arsed to pay for LFS in the first place.
Ah dear sir you fail to see what i,m getting at, i am in no way complaining about what i bought far from it in fact, we were discussing hobby vs paid product.
I wasn't focusing on LFS i,m just saying there is a vastly different public perception to paid and freeware.
The devs made the rod for there own back by announcing the three tiered system, people ask the same questions day in week out about S3 or when is this or that due.
We cry for info and then analyze every atom of it and when were going to get it.
I,m OT but i assure you if took all the threads away about when this or that is coming the forum would be near empty.
Were lucky we have a vast legion of avid devotee's that will fight for Scavier's honor when its in doubt
You cant get a point past you zealots, if you have been reading what i have said i dont really care about the VW thingy , just the reason given for it.
I,m not jealous at all, jesus who wants a legion of fanbois waiting and scrutinising every thing you say or do
I really dont give a toss when the VW comes out if ever or any updates for that matter, i just find it really funny that the tools are laid down because your moving house?
That is not a criticism of Scawen or his work habit but i can guarantee you that if do that in any other business by the time you came back you would have to move again as your business would have gone tits up..
Maybe i,m a cranky old prick that has had a gut load of the dickhead builders that promised to finish my home in six weeks rather than the nine months its taken because they have using the same lame excuses as moving house...
The second you start charging people for a product things become completely different to some one doing it as a hobby, i think Scawen and Co have such an enviable position , people love there product and want more Jesus Christ it doesn't get any better than that for a small business.
