Quote from BigPeBe :

Zetec is also very nice option for Oldskool Ford.
Or N/A Cossie lump mmm...

Lots of guys are going duratec mainly as in 5 or 10 years time spare parts can be taking from scrapyard really cheap, unlike trying to find pinto/cossie parts.
as for the zetec......its 122kg compared to the duratec 92kg!!!!

1970-1987 was definately the best time for ford, id think id have every european car (and van) from that era if i could. i think ford need to become a retro make, all the old bodyshells with better internals (though lots of people do that now) Saw a project on a forum the other day, had an original Mk1 escort, and fitted the 2.0 duratec engine out of a mondeo into it without any body modifications at all

Quote from The General Lee :Try Finland?

Hows the Capri Rob?

nope, latvian (Big PeBe is finnish, the other guy with the slower sierra was latvian )

capri is......leaky its slowly rotting the floor through and theres nothing i can do about it as i have nowhere to take my car apart and nowhere warm enough to dry it out i give it 6 months before its a feww hundred pounds of welding on a perfect shell.

Quote from BigPeBe :Nah, a turbo'd Pinto would do the job.

VTEC is a nice engine, but I think putting a jap-engine on Ford is a horrible idea.

Seen a few people put CADET18 and CADET20 engines in capris, not really to my taste, but apparently they go quick

At least now BigPeBe has a little austrian PeBe

Quote from BigPeBe :Heh you're on the point here.

Maybe a bit OT but:

"(or we can mash the lever about and let the syncromesh do the 'blipping', but nobody who enjoys driving would do that, surely?)."

At least for now I have to do it that way, because the pedal "ergonomy" in Sierra sucks and there's no way to heel 'n toe without broking my legs joints. I need to build my own pedal set for this car...

Kinda know what you mean with the capri too, i cant do it even though i have size 12 shoes! (47 for you euro types )

Quote from Velociround :I'm right handed and I always hug on the left
Because all girls I hug always hugs on the left..

I mean, everyone here in Brazil seems to hug on the left.... always.

Maybe its to do with gravatational pull, seems to be dividing between left and right depending on where in the world you are, just like which way the toilet flushes

Quote from tristancliffe :My 1991 car isn't that much newer than yours!

yes but its japanese, that would make it at least 5 years more advanced in technology even if it was the same age
robt

i guess it depends on the age of the car, something as new as yours is probably chassis flex, as old as mine is the door seals made of cheese with holes in.

Got the inlet manifold, eec-iv, 2 distributors (1 new 1 used), 4 coils, a full wiring loom, 2 fuel pumps (both genuine bosch, 1 used 1 brand new like the distributor), hmm, what else, fully reconditioned EFi head with about 500miles or less wear on it. and a few other bits, its a good 2 or 3 boxes worth. all for about 300e i think. which isnt bad considering its a fully recon cylinder head.
You not changed over to EDIS yet? Also, if you have unleaded EFi cylinder heads over there youre sitting on a large invesment they go for quite a bit round here in the old ford circles.

started on the right tyres, but stupid settings meant it pitted for inters, then pitted for wets 2 laps in a row!! could have won by miles

Quote from BigPeBe :Well, for what I know the 1.8 is a very slow car too.
Tho I have never driven 1.8 version and I don't know anything about the CVH versions, was the 1.6 or 1.8 both Pinto versions? If not maybe the CVH version has different performance than Pinto, dunno...

Of course it is also possible that the 1.6 was in a good shape and then after that the 1.8 weren't. For what I know a 1.8 at least should perform a bit better than 1.6.

lol dunno. I don't even know why I'm speculating this.

Are you still considering the horrible stock Ford EEC-IV or are saving for something better?

1.8 came in both pinto and CVH, depends what year, think 88/89 was the changeover for most.
Gonna have to stick with the EEC-IV for the moment. maybe if i get some spare money ill swap, maybe sell my brand new electronic distributer to fund an EDIS system too. Fancy a genuine motorcraft Electronic distributor for your sierra? Never been used!

well the 1.6 went faster then the 1.8 we had after that!
On another note, Hopefully im going to get paid (hopefully quite a bit) for a job i just done for someone rebuilding their company website, should pay for me to get the fuel injection fitted

lol. love the snow shots. my mum used to have a sierra in the same blue as youre other one (guessing its a 1.6?) loved that car, was rather quick as well (my dad fitted a rather punchy webber carb to replace the silly VV carb that came with it)
