Just change the oil/filter, leads and plugs. should do all it needs. thats all i did to mine and it had been sitting for 11 years! works fine.

PS: if you want the fuel economy youll need the 2.0 model. 1.6 is worse on fuel economy and the 2.8 does about 33mpg at best!

a tank to 300miles?! Mine did 330 to 37 litres. and that was with a few 0-60 runs included cant wait to fit the fuel injection and get the same mpg but with 20 more bhp

I dont even want to think how much ive spent on petrol. its been at least 7 fills of about £30 each.

Battlesbridge classic car show on sunday, i shall be on a stand for the forum (capri one not this one ) might be a bit short notice though! hopefully ill have the bits that have fallen off stuck back on by then haha. and theres a lot of capris going up for sale. if you want a rot free shell with a fibreglass bonnet and a rollcage etc etc theres one going for £500 in the for sale section of the forum would make a good project to piece together.

Quote from The General Lee :Okay...update:

I'm driving.

Passed yesterday

Absolutly love driving and I love driving my car.

'All best drivers pass 2nd time'

Time to look for a Capri

I have used this '' smiley too much, but it really desribes how I feel

well as nobody else has said it, congratulations!!! (and the 2nd time thing mustbe true, cause i passed 2nd time too hahaha!)
glad youre enjoying driving, just dont get too happy with the right foot, it will catch you out one day. Still looking for a 2.8? lots appearing on the capri forum lately!

Quote from danthebangerboy :The 4 best things to do to a capri,

wider/bigger wheels, (the pointy RS wheels look very nice)
2.8 v6 out of a granada,
5 speed type 9 manual box,
Limited slip diff.

Capri finished!

Although i like capris, i like granadas more, especially mk1s. Like this one my mate owned about 2 years ago. He swapped it for a mk2 granada limo and we kept the wheels off the mk1 as well!

Got the 7 spokes for my laser, and fitted (standard fit on a 2.8 injection)
id prefer the 2.9 cossie out of a granada scorpio if it had to be from a granada
Got a 5 speed box
LSD's go for silly money no so im not even going to bother. not wanting to pay £400+ for a diff with 100,000+ miles on it!

its the fact its a 2.0 ghia. ghias as 3.0 models are quite rare, but ive only known of two people who have a 2.0 ghia! If you want to get even rarer try a capri cameo or cameo 2 or a gt4. though the smaller engined cars arent worth too much at the moment. getting there though! (n dont get the bmw coupe :P ) I use my capri as a daily driver, get 34-38 MPG on average (depeding how often i put my foot down to annoy the chavs ) so its not really THAT bad.

Quote from The General Lee :I'd rather put the S52 into it

I already found you on there mate. I saw Robt100 and though, "Ooooh, could be him..." I searched this thread for the pictures of your car and checked your registration...Jobs a good'n.

I really MUST have one. Since I posted here about the insurance, it's all I've been able to think about. Once I'm all licenced up, I will definitely buy one. Even if it is a £650 Taxed and Tested banger. But in time, I will definitely be shelling out around the £2,000 - £3,000 range to get a mint(ish) 2.8.

I registered on the site, just so I can see all the forums and stuff, my username is Looney28 - the 28 is a little soon, but hey ho.

Rob, do you have MSN so we don't spam this thread with Capri talk

this thread needs more capri talk! And blueflame, the capri is built in germany

that "banger" is actually getting to be quite a rare model, and the wheels are worth £200 id say! could probably get your money nearly back in parts then scrap the rest (yes i know, sacrilidge). if you do go for a mint 2.8, get the injection special, has a few extras that are worth a few bob

And yes, you do want one, you MUST have one

Quote from The General Lee :I would rather have a coupe Jack. I also want to put the 318is (s = Sport) engine in it, which is a 1.9 16v engine producing 140bhp.

The Beemer I have now I had to have, I didn't really have much of a say as I bought it there and then, without looking at others. I would like to look and buy one that is perfect...for me.

I really want a 2.8 Capri Rob. I have been seriously looking at buying this one. But with no licence at the moment, I really can't justify it.

If I did get one, I would keep my 'Cockmobile' and if I go with Quinn Direct (which I will...) it entitles me to drive any car that is already insured. I will get my Mother to insure the Capri, I will pay her what ever it is, should only be a couple hundred quid, then use it as my play thing.

That capri doesnt look to great to be honest, by the looks of things its a new gearbox (thrust bearing most likely, but involves a whole rebuild to get to it) and a nice V6 rebuild due to the back pressure. http://www.capripower.co.uk/board/index.php?showtopic=11109 thats what you want this guy looks after his cars.

http://www.capripower.co.uk/board/index.php?showtopic=11134 id get that if i had the money, 3.0S looks gorgeous.

Or just get a 2.0, EFi it (from an old granada) then fit a nice cam and manifold and get near the 140bhp you want

http://www.capripower.co.uk/board/index.php?showtopic=11131 £1700! looks rather nice too.

Quote from The General Lee :Sorry to hear that mate. ****ing BMW drivers! Technically, I'm not a BMW *driver* so I'm cool.

Just found out tonight, for an extra £92 a YEAR over my BMW, I can insure a 2.8 Capri!!

I am seriously considering it...as a second car, at least. Once I pass of course.

Get the 2.8, you know you want to! does around 33mpg so not that bad really. though the 2.8 models cost about £2000 more to buy then a 1.6 or 2.0 model!! looking at £3000+ for a decent one now. Getting the car sorted at the weekend. de-rubbed, de-striped, and a front spoiler fitted

I think the harshness of the penalty has something to do with having to give a 25 second penalty if less then 3 laps remaining and someone gets a drive-thru/stop go offence. or somethign similar

buy the cortina and give the engine a bit of a tune up and stiffen/safen the chassis enough for her not to complain (got an '86 capri myself as a first car)

new terminal would be best a bit further east i think. the best paid routes seem to alternate from east to west, so would be good to have a HQ near each.

Crunched the car at the weekend the capri now has a bit missing. Ripped the rubbing strip off on the front of a BMW. Least it gives me an excuse to de-stripe the car and take all the plastic strips off, and maybe fit the front spoiler too.

What about cars with hollow cam lobes (i think they are lobes anyway, the cams on the camshaft my technical words have failed me) to put the oil through then?
