Quote from Amynue :What I really like about the Vive is that it doesn't use external camera for possitional tracking. Camera makes Rift harder to set up and if you want to use it with a laptop it's a pain in the ass.

It actually has two. And they need to be set up at right-angles to one another about 2 metres apart. Not ideal for users with limited space, or laptops I'm thinking...

Quote from Bone34 :I would like to see a rival to UF1, an old small RWD car and also a higher power variant which would be rival to XFG and XRG.

Like a Riley Elf, or a Hillman Imp? That would be fun Smile

Quote from exploitedx :hello how i do too play with my skin i put it here?
and in the folder skin in the game?

Other drivers won't be able to see your skin until it is uploaded to lfsworld.net, and I think you need an S1 or S2 license for that.

There was a rumour that you could use the skin server as a demo-user if you payed a small fee, but I've yet to see anything that confirms that.

Thanks Delis, there's a PM on its way to you now.

It wasn't the way I would have wanted to win, to be honest, but we take what we can get.

I've had a couple of ideas for the next round's theme which have the potential to inspire some fun artwork, but we'll discuss them a little more thoroughly before announcing.

Not quite a full shot there, UnknownMaster. You're always going to miss 100% of the shots you don't take. Wink

Quote from Texpelt88 :
Quote from 5tag :Well you won't improve much if you keep using paint

I disagree.

Not exactly the most helpful comment, Texpelt88. Without an explanation to accompany your opinion, it just comes off as disrespectful and argumentative. Two things that are strongly discouraged on this forum.

Paint is ok for certain jobs, but it needs to be used in a very specific way, and trying to do things with it that it is not designed for will end in poor results, such as the scaling of logos, as you an see above.

Xmatis98: If you want to improve your skinning, try a program like GIMP, or Photoshop (which you can trial free for a month before you don't buy it Wink ) You'll see better results instantly, i guarantee Smile

5tag: yeah, i forgot the foglight reflections XD

motion blur isn't really a thing anymore, what with all the new DSLRs with 1/8000 shutter speeds (that's my story and I'm sticking to it ;p )

5tag: nope, nope, nope, nope - although a logo might not be a bad idea Smile
Eclipsed: the forest is back there in the fog. You'll have to trust me on that one Wink

It's super obvious - not subtle at all Big grin

Final Entry

To be honest, I wasn't going to enter because I figured this might get disqualified. Although no external images have been used, there are masses of photoshop effects, and they're not strictly generated in LFS.

I was going to see what others did, and then try to adjust it, but since the deadline has been extended, I figured what the heck.

Cracked demo license, layouts, VOB mods... staggering amount of fail.

You might as well stand on top of a mountain during a storm, dressed in copper armour, shouting "all gods are bastards".

Apologies to Terry Pratchett for the paraphrasing.

I've met many drivers with S2 licenses who have never bothered to read this. Their attitude will always be that it was your fault, not theirs, and "you need to learn to be more aware of what is going on".

That's an actual quote from a guy on an S2 server who deliberately put me into the fence for boxing him in while he was trying to draft past someone else. Not so funny at the time, but a perfect example of the mentality you will encounter in this game, no matter what server you connect to.

Hi Waileer, I'm really liking your vids, but it'd be nice to see some different camera angles, especially for overtakes and close racing, so that we can see more of what is happening around you.
The trick is to edit the different views together without losing the 'flow' of the action, but I'm sure you'll figure it out given time.
Keep up the great work - can't wait to see more!

Hey Delis, just a clarification of the rule about external images: Does that mean no compositing of photographs or other found (googled) imagery? All content in the picture must be exclusively from LFS?
Thanks Smile

I've been using an Oculus for a little over 6 months now, and I have to say, once you get used to it (maybe 5 minutes or less) it's incredibly hard to go back to a standard monitor.
All that stuff you say to new drivers about using their mirrors and look buttons is natural and automatic in the Rift. I can't say it's made me a faster driver, but I'm certainly more aware of where I am on the track in relation to other cars and bits of scenery - walls especially Big grin

Big thanks to Dave and all the team at CG - you all did an excellent job of keeping things going for as long as you did. Good luck to you for the future - I'm sure anything else you turn your hand to will be just as successful.

The other reason for not using a license-bound ID is that most likely the OP is a crasher/griefer who doesn't want to be identified because they know that no-one will want to help them anyway. Their attitude in this thread has only reinforced that suspicion.

Karma will work itself out...
