However, having read his post again I realised I'd misundestood what he'd written!!!!! Doh! He wasn't saying that bf1 is rubbish but giving another example of a generalisation. So I just changed my post to 'lfs'
You don't need to justify racing the UF1s when no critisism was levelled at racing that class of car or the fun that can be had with it.
I just said the bf1 was too fast and difficult for most people to drive at a level where they can go toe to toe.
This leads me to another point - that the people who are fastest in the bf1 drive the virtual streets of lfs with the smug satisfaction of knowing they are the best of the best.
Nearly everyone who can't drive them ends up saying things like 'they aren't as much fun' or 'you can't have decent races with them'. No, YOU can't have decent races with them
Its too fast and too difficult for most people. People complain it isn't fun - hah, thats because they just don't have the ability to go wheel to wheel for 10 laps against 5 other cars while setting near pb laptimes. Then it is fun
It worked the very first time I tried it but never since...... Everytime I try to run the program it says I need to unlock / register liveforspeed. I have tried to lock/unlcock and this doesn't help. Does anyone have any idea? I have installed VBruntime and put the OCX files in the lfs directory.
Also, does this work on all the S2 cars? I would like to be able to change downforce etc on the formula cars.
Try other games that you know well or a benchmark and see if they are also slower. If they are then you know its a system problem not lfs. If it isn't slower then chances something has changed in the lfs configuration.
What was said earlier about making your intentions clear is correct. You need to let people know what you are going to do, be it lapping or being lapped, if you spring a move on someone, don't be surprised if they cut your nose off.
Normally most people respond well when after the race if you ask them to obey the blue flags and not to race people lapping them. If they don't, kick them, it's not hard is it?
I don't quite understand, are you saying you don't want people to try and pull you on LFS or you don't wan't people to try and pull you in LFS by methods previously seen?
good point, if you are in pole, get into the corner asap, if you take the racing line you will be at the apex just as the crazies come flying in
my diagram is about when you are in 2nd - 6th on the grid.
If you are lower down than that, just maintain your position and distance and don't lockup into the 1st corner, remember that the cars in front of you are progressively braking earlier and eariler making your braking point earlier than the car in front.
In the picture you can see the apex where most people go straight towards, the crash normally happens just before where all the cars try and go into the same space of track.
The line round the outside is the one that I take if I'm near the front of the grid, there is more room out there and you can often either drive round the accident or pick you way through the scattered cars.
If you are on the outside of the corner it also allows people who have overcooked the corner more time to see you, get out of their slide and avoid you. If you are on the inside apex and they're in a slide, there's nothing they can do to avoid you.
This doesn't stop you getting rear ended by someone who really wants to cause a pileup of severly missed their braking point but most often, people lock up while heading towards the inside apex, so the outside of the track is often clear.
Yeah, people often complain about being taken out and stuff at T1 and I know sometimes there is nothing you can do.
However a lot of the time it's because you aren't any good at AVOIDING the accident, you have too see these things coming a long way ahead, make your self some space on the track and drive defensively, its a skill that some people don't even know exists, let alone have mastered.
