Hello

Don't have a great of time for LFS however as I prepare to come back out of retirement a race or two would not go amiss.

Are they allowed to use it whilst lapping cars? I'm sure I saw Vettel's popping open whilst lapping the Virgin and it surprised me, although I do not know the rule.

Sorry! Didn't realise you had already linked to it

This month's podcast for Motorsport magazine is a hour in the company of Dario Franchitti. Lots of interesting stuff about Di Resta, mid 90s DTM, late 90s Champcar and so on.

How come Helio didn't get a penalty for bumping Wilson but PT got one for doing exactly the same thing to, um, I think it was one of the girls?

Quote from bavorak :I dont know if anyone here already has this idea..if yes I am sorry...but this will be very interesting imho...I know there is a place on track where the racing line crosses but there is plenty of room on oval for cars to choose where they need to go...

That would be a bit tricky. What you could do would be to run from KY3 onto the oval, continue around to the end of the (unused) pitlane, make a hairpin, run back through the pitlane then into KY2R before hairpinning back onto KY3. Should be enough room, although racing through the exit of the pitlane might be a bit tight.

Whilst we're on about opening FE and BL, is the same going to happen at SO?

There's one I would like to see opened, but it's not part of any config so not sure whether it will be or not. There's an off ramp part way down the straight on SO Long before the last tight corner. That would lead into downhill braking into a tight corner which looks fun and would also cut down the length of the first and espcially final "straights", cutting average speed and making it a bit more Monaco-esque.

Quote from sil3ntwar :Umm? From what i recall massa did not move across the track more than once to defend a corner.

I do not have a copy of the race to review it but everything seemed fine.

I do think Hamiltons penalty is harsh however.

Agree about Massa. He did nothing against the rules although he was extremely firm.

You could've left it a little more than two minutes - trying to wind up the kiddies on here.

Rossi will win Mugello, whatever state the Ducati is in by then.

It's a big month for Dani. If he gets to Estoril fit then he will be a factor.

Mental race today. Not a classic like Laguna 08 or Suzuki 94 (Abe's debut), but it had a bit of everything!

DRS should prove a good deal more significant at Malaysia; if used on the pit straight then it is on a longer straight between two hairpins.

No point drawing sweeping conclusions from qualifying or the whole race weekend. It's the first race with a lot of new rules, new tyres and Melbourne isn't a representative circuit. Job this week for drivers is to make sure they score what they can and don't make any silly errors.

LFS isn't finished yet, so the question is moot at this stage.

Quote from PhilS13 :From what I understood the wing goes back to normal when they touch the brakes. They are activating it with a button. It returns when they touch the brakes.

No?

The MRW will only be activated upon the driver pressing a special button on his steering wheel, and the wing will stay in its low-drag position until the driver applies the brakes.

Oh I see. Most of them left foot brake now so if it is a problem for them they can pull a bit of brake to pop the wing back, but not so much that they activate the engine cut off.

Or they just man up and deal with it. It's F1, it's not supposed to be easy.

FE4, or FE4R (can't remember which) is an absolute must.

Why no R4 on road circuits?

Mine, from 1:23. I turn off at 7:33, but it takes me a couple of minutes longer.

So I wonder if this means that once Rockingham is released and the tyre physics are reasonable enough that LFS will be more open to linking up with other tracks? Could we be deluged with a new track every year?

I hope that wouldn't mean the end of fantasy tracks though. If Kyoto GP or Aston GP was a real race track they wouldn't be very far behind the likes of Spa or Suzuka.
