vimeo uses the latest version of flash which yields a better video but it requires a faster cpu. My laptop can't play the videos at all but my desktop has no problem with them.
edit... just noticed you said veoh Chances are it's probably the same issue.
It's fake as it's not currently possible to get a view like that... I'm just dreaming... there's a few threads in the improvements section if you're interested.
You guys should use vimeo or blip.tv for the videos. I recorded my only decent round in HD (1280x720) with Fraps as a test and it came out pretty decent - except for the fact that I basically ran out of HD space and the recording started stuttering the final lap. My cpu isn't that fast (athlon 3400+), but using these guides helped..
I diverted from the divx guide a bit to lower the file size. I don't understand how people can compress a 2 hour movie to 700MB with decent quality, yet my 200MB 6 minute LFS video loses a ton of the original quality. hmmm... it's probably the high resolution that screws up the file size..
It's basically the same one from the rally round with several corrections:
1) Changed SAAB logo to RA logo - I thought the RAC was a saab concept car - oops
2) Changed Roundabout to Raceabout - I'm an idiot
3) Changed RAC to RA logo
4) Added metal gas lid, metal latches
5) Used shadow map
Anyone involved in moderating the race (safety/rescue/control) should know what they're supposed to be doing before the race as well as knowing all the rules.
I believe in a few races some volunteers came in and weren't sure of either their role or some of the rules (example: no chatting).
I use names-over-cars and often drive with the racing line on unless I've perfected a track I really wish both features were not available because they're not realistic. But I guess you have to draw a line somewhere.
I find names over cars it's a definite advantage once you get to know different player's driving styles.
Also, with the driving line on it's very easy to use it as a marker for braking instead of relying on objects off of the track.
ah, thanks. Perhaps they aren't protected birds then! We do in fact have woodpeckers as well - they have a very odd shaped red head, but I have not seen them on my car. I thought this guy was just another type of woodpecker since all he does is go crazy pecking really fast.
Sorry for the crazy topic. This freaking bird is driving me crazy. I've had a few woodpeckers pecking at my house since last october. Now that they've destroyed my house, they're targeting my car. My car's almost brand new and I've tried my hardest to prevent parking dings and whatnot. I've had a few odd dings in bizarre places that I couldn't explain until now. I'm pretty sure in New York state it's illegal to kill them
What the heck am I supposed to do? There's deterrents like the "Attack Spider" but that's not good enough.
:spidereek
This thing needs to be punished.
The thing pecks at my hood, craps, then pecks at its own poop. This pattern repeats the entire day. :wtf2: It's time to unleash hell. PREPARE FOR DOOM WOODPECKER!!11! :biggun:
I was going to use the RAC setup for the final race. I was running ~2:55 with awful 2nd splits so I'm sure it can be pretty fast with a little tweaking.
I didn't mean any offense After all, it's not your site! To answer your question nope I won't be using them - but for other reasons. I won't be able to make this race! Certain family stuff came up that's more important than this game - so I wish everyone luck in the final round.
Also, to paraphrase a book I'm reading, the difference between 1st place and 3rd place is the amount of work and knowledge spent tuning a car. At our level it really doesn't make much of a difference, but at the WR level I would imagine people might work quite hard working on their setups just to extract a few hundredths of a second. It should really be up to them to decide whether they want to share their hard work. Does that mean I won't use that site? Well I don't know! but I am going to work hard to learn how to setup my car properly... something I'm pretty bad at right now!
Don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure most established race drivers only use sim games to learn tracks and for strength/focus training. I don't think any of them use simulators to actually improve their driving technique.
The side view mirrors aren't different angles - they're the same as the rear view (exception they only display a portion of what the rear view displays).
