You recorded the click? I'm not familiar with that version of Cubase but I've never come across a DAW before that couldn't generate a click.

If your soundcard has ASIO drivers then you can run a low-latency monitor mix out through Cubase including the input signal(s). If not you'll need an outboard mixer of some sort - run the output from Cubase into one channel, your input(s) into the other(s) and create your headphone mix there.

But TBH it would be just as cheap and probably less faff to buy a decent audio card and stop using your soundblaster. In fact, is the Yamaha 'thingy' an audio interface? Is that where you're getting your headphone signal from? If so you should be able to disable input monitoring in Cubase and set up the mix right there on your audio interface.

Quote from EeekiE :If there's ever a point where they're racing, and he squints his eyes, and then the camera cuts to his foot well to show him pushing the accelerator further I'm going to scream and walk out.

Hahaha.

You know that's going to happen three or four times.

Germans lose on penalties? Bizarre.

Also congrats to York City who won the FA Trophy last weekend and won their promotion play-off final today to put them back in the football league after 8 years in the conference.

Quote from Jakg :some people aren't causing accidents, but aren't very good at avoiding them. Often when driving you'll get a "sixth sense" someone is about to do something stupid, and make allowances, and this makes you less likely to have an accident than someone who doesn't pay attention etc.

I've never had a collision with anything. How many have you had now? Three or four?

You're right, some people aren't very good at avoiding crashes.

I put that photo on Facebook and got the same line of enquiry.

Big fish. He's about 8" long. He's just a goldfish that was won at the fair, but we've had him for about 12 years now. Apparently they can grow to about 12" long if they have a good enough environment. The reason most stay small and die young is because they live in cramped conditions - a single goldfish needs about 100L of water. He's got 50L I think.

This turned up today. Carved spruce top, nice flamed maple ribs, maple back. Needs a better set of strings but I've got two sets in my loft. Think I'll get the bridge replaced with an adjustable one (so I can fit a Full Circle pickup) and maybe replace the pegs - they work fine but they're not very attractive. Then it just needs a few years of playing to season it.

Sound is already obviously there. Very resonant, open, lots of sustain, sounds very woody and rich when bowed. It's only going to get better.

Bit jealous.

A friend of mine's got one on the way but I keep forgetting to order one.

I suppose 30" would make sense. You'd want at least that.

I've got a 41.5" scale bass coming in the post tomorrow. Will post pictures.

What sort of scale lengths do they use on 8-string guitars? I've tried a few short-scale basses where the E string doesn't really work very well because it's only a 30" scale, I would imagine a typical guitar scale around 25" would lead to quite a floppy and impractical low F#?

Quote from Mustangman759 :are you on pc? its not that hard man

Depending on how your life is working out, playing a computer game for over an hour can be pretty impossible.

Plus th84 can't use a computer for that long without stopping to pedal the generator.

Entire Beastie Boys back catalogue.

This is a pretty good testament to the guy right here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6xsKsJqVyg

Massive influence on me and surely millions of others. I first bought effects pedals for my bass because he used them. I first bought a double bass because he used one. Pretty gutted at the moment.

TBH I agree with Fuse, the most important thing to me is that the interface is not obtrusive and I don't waste time fiddling with software when I should be making music.

That said, any DAW with a good set of default session templates can be good in those situations where you just want to quickly fire it up and demo a new idea.

Newcastle have found some cracking players, they've been such a good team to watch this season. Hope they hold that fourth spot and Chelski get stuffed by Bayern.

Although I suppose if Spurs don't qualify this season they'll lose Modric and Bale, which would be a shame.

No way man I'd have that car if it was cheaper to run.

It's also infinitely nicer than the purple 1996 Fiesta with broken everythings that I'm currently driving!

Quote from Hahmo :So.. Finally got the license.. Heres da auto

Nice. I reckon you could get a double bass, couple of bass guitars, full bass rig and a well-equipped drumset in there.

Fingers crossed for York City who are playing their first-leg promotion play-off against Mansfield tonight, about 100 yards from my house. Can't go, work to do.

Mansfield lead the Blue Square Prem in yellow cards this season, hopefully they won't put the boot in too hard because York are in the FA Trophy final too. It's been a good season for City.

Quote from NSX_FReeDoM :Is it horrible for me to say, "thanks for improving the gene pool"?

More to the point is it funny? No. So you not only look like a dick for trying to make a joke about a man who died in an accident, but you managed to be extra-dick by not even using a funny joke.

Arsenal might have lost some key players but the quality of the league went down enough for them to still manage third place. I don't get how MUFC are still challenging for the title with the crappy team they've got this year, shows you how bad everybody else has been.

Quote from The Very End :So maybe it's like big cars then, they try to compensate for something?

There's a bassist in California who's got a 13-string bass.

I think some bass players invest a lot of years in their instrument and suddenly realise that they're playing an instrument nobody notices. That's when they commission somebody to make them a 13-string bass...

Quote from The Very End :Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the 7th string the deepest one or? Meaning they could tune the guitar to have the possibility to play really low tones and still have the ability to play higher tones (maybe the lowest one is tuned to D or C, again I have no clue).
Enlighten me please!

Yeah the low string is a B (although it sometimes still gets drop-tuned by silly metal guitarists).

I always feel bad for bassists in metal bands. There's no point in them being there because the guitarists have got such a bass-heavy sound. They end up scooping the mids and all you hear is the clicky fret noise as the strings bounce around. Might as well hire a percussionist.
