Quote from spanks :You can resub whenever and it adds on to your remaining time. A lot of people think they have to wait and use up the time they already have.

Just waiting for $$$ to come through so I can swing a full year again without having to worry about it.

Bah. Milwaukee would be great fun, but it's one of the tracks I won't have until I re-sub next week...

The link won't work unless you're already in the forum, but yeah, complete schedule. As long as you know at least one car/track combo that is running that week you can figure everything else out without much trouble. If only they had lined up the Jetta series with everything else...

Quote from UncleBenny :They have stated a couple times that it is in their plans. They haven't said if its something that's actually being worked on though, or when it might actually come out. I'd love to see it next season, but if I had to guess I'd say it's at least 2 seasons or more away.

Night racing has been mentioned a few times as being in the pipeline, but rain/dynamic weather does not seem to be on the horizon yet. I have a feeling night racing will be first introduced on the oval side, with just trackside lighting. If that goes well we should expect to see headlights on the road cars sometime after that.

I cleaned up the edges a little bit, but starting with such a small image is never going to turn out well if you want to make it bigger. Always start big and resize down to retain quality.

If you have to size up, in PS go Image>Size, and select "bicubic smoother best for enlargement" Go in very small steps up, not all at once.

It's an ad for batteries. What would a girl need batteries for if her guy was away?

Quote from Crommi :Longer gears are definately the way to go for races, it's probably very difficult to overtake with short ratios as you'll hit limiter so easily.

I can still pull on people down the back straight enough to make the inside pass into 17, but it takes quite a run out of 16. A tall 6th would definitely help...

Interesting, I've been using short gears and can only manage a 1:58 flat... Might have to go experiment. Anyway, nice lap.

149th in Road, unfortunately it doesn't mean much as I'll never qualify for the DWC. I'm sure there are at least a few LFSers capable of top 50 though...

Quote from spanks :Just trying out a new paint scheme on the mazda. I think I'll throw it on everything I've got.

I dig it

That's a sharp looking scheme there.

Quote from Jertje :The problem apparantly lies with the software, but the sound has the potential to be near perfect. Here is a comparison of the actual recording used and the iRacing version: http://www.soundwaveconcepts.c ... _Then_iRacing_Samples.mp3 (posted in the forums)
That's pretty much as close as it gets tbh. It just seems like the iRacing interpretation is slightly more high-pitched.

Edit: you'll notice that the YouTube video sounds quite similar, but the in-game engine sound is washed out slightly by wind noise etc. I still think it's fairly accurate, if a bit 'clean' sounding at worst.

From that sample you posted wide open throttle sounds pretty good, what's missing IMO is the pops, crackles, and off throttle tone/sounds. It's just... too digital. Honestly though I couldn't care less, I just want to drive the thing.

Quote from DeadWolfBones :Love that Lightroom GND tool.

Ain't that the truth. The tools in LR2 are the best thing that's ever happened to me. Lol. Editing 2000 images down to 600 goes soooo much faster when you don't have to open every single one in PS for one spec of dust, red eye, washed out sky, etc. Not to mention the adjustment brush and all the amazing things it can do without ever setting foot in PS...

Dave, and everyone, I'm curious as to your thoughts about induced understeer in iracing to correct oversteer. No one is really talking about it on the iRacing forums and I'm pretty sure it's because no one wants to admit there's something fishy going on.

Let's say you're turning right, and the rear end steps out. Logic says countersteer to the left to bring the rear end back in. However, in iRacing it's possible to just continue steering hard to the right, inducing understeer, and you won't spin. This seems totally wrong? I know there have been discussions here before about induced understeer but never in the context of iRacing.

I feel like I have a dirty little secret that keeps my car on the track all the time. SR is 4.99 and climbing. If I'm ever at the point where I know the rear is going around and full opposite lock isn't going to bring it back, I just steer hard the other way and get on the brakes. Instead of making the spin worse like one would think, it saves the car. You lose speed for sure, but I can't remember the last time i actually spun out in any of the cars. This can't possibly work so well IRL can it?

Seems to me the only cars with very noticeable trailing throttle oversteer are the Skip and SRF. The downforce cars are especially planted mid corner when you're totally off the throttle, for me anyway. The Skip just teaches you to be on the throttle early for a fast exit, by way of keeping you on the pedal to make sure the car can turn. From what I understand partial throttle helps transfer load towards the rear tires, which helps keep the back planted. Lift mid-corner, load transfers forward, and the rears loose grip.

There have been some real world drivers, of both the Skip and SRF, that have come onto the iRacing forums and said the trailing throttle oversteer is quite realistic. The main problem they have with the SRF is the top speed, reaching a few mph more than the real life counterpart.

Yeah it really is amazing how much of a difference they can make. Some of the idle sounds in good rFactor mods are just the best things I've ever heard from a sim, but then of course they disappear and the normal engine loop starts playing... that just kills it for me.

The sounds of the higher HP cars (less the CoT) in iRacing is where I think they need to do some work. SRF, Skip, Solstice, Legends sound fine to me. The DP, Radical and Mazda just sound like muffled bees buzzing around instead of screaming engines. You get used to it and don't notice sooner than later, but they don't bring a smile to my face like the real cars.

The sounds aren't great in all but a few of the cars. I did have my hopes up for the Lotus, but short of recording a clip and looping it (à la rFactor) I doubt the sounds will ever be as good as we'd all like in iRacing.

Most of the cars just sound very... tin can like, with a digital twist. There's no rumble or growl in any of the ones there should be, and I think it just comes down to the way iRacing and LFS generate sounds. They're not playing loops over and over, they're generating sounds. I don't think the digital age has come far enough yet where sounds from a computer can bring forth such a sensory explosion as hearing any sort of race car fly by, let alone something like a Ferrari 412T or Lotus 79, in game-type software anyway.

It's funny actually, the staff guy behind the physics for the Lotus posted a quick blog about the development on the iRacing forums, people saw the video and started complaing about the sound... The majority were quick to compliment the car and were excited none the less, but still the focus was on the sounds instead of the fact that HOLY CRAP iRacing is about to release an historic F1 car...

I shouldn't be saying any of this! Sign up for iRacing it's great, cleanest sim racing ever once you're past rookie.

Quote from DaveWS :...Something definately doesn't feel right regarding how the car snaps from sliding way to the other so violently. I've never seen or driven any car like that IRL. TBH I reckon the real thing feels somewhere between LFS and iRacing...

Realistic or not, setting the rear ARB bar to "none" cures much of that violent snap in the Mazda. You're actually able to keep your foot planted and apply opposite lock without snapping off the track in the other direction. Try it!

As is I'd go with the color version. When I look at a portrait I wan't to be drawn to the face before anything else. In your B&W version the face could use a little more fill light and/or highlights to draw your eye in, otherwise it wants to drift over to the brightness of the horizon in the background.

Awesome. My dad had a '64 250 Berlinetta Lusso at one point. He paid $7500 for it in the early 70s!
