i rarely checked the forums for updates the last years, but this copy/paste job is just a joke. at least they could have spent a little more time/efford in pretending that they do something.
maybe some new licenses can be sold by this. good for drivers who are still active.
it's sad that the energy and spirit of the beginning years just vanished. This game had insane potential. it's very disappointing.
after this i don't feel like checking for updates, because i just don't trust "the news" anymore.
i am taking no sides in this discussion because both sides have valid arguments. it shouldnt matter very much how others race lfs (900°,360°, H-Shifter, Clutch etc.) but in fact i think a does matter.
i just want to add a thought:
i am not talking about advantages in laptimes here, but how the setup has an influence on the attitude/"way of racing" of each driver.
i am not racing lfs anymore, but i tried to switch to "900°, h-shifter, 3-Pedals" in rfactor. after practicing a lot offline, i was confident to try it online. i tried it for one hour and switched back to "540°, no clutch". while i was pretty competitive in laptimes, i had no chance while battleing for positions. in the infight the little nudges i received from my opponents (which i didn't consider unfair in any way) caused a lot of trouble for me.
with the easier setup, i corrected the resulting slides relaxed with a smile on my face. with the more realistic setup i was struggling so much, i couldn't stand it anymore.
what i want to say: if anyone on the server would be using such a realistic setup, the fights for positions wouldn't be that aggressive (and maybe more realistic(?)), because everyone had the same trouble as me. catching a slide is so different on a realistic setup, i really can understand why someone who is using an easier setup can't understand why the guy in front of him that he had slighty touched at the rear of his car suddenly has so much trouble.
i am not a big fan of jokerlaps in reallife, too. especially at the estering there is a lot of overtaking. by building a jokerlap, the overtaking is mostly done by tactical driving (taking the jokerlap in the right lap). A little bit like pitstops. there is less real overtaking with the jokerlaps.
on the other hand, there are some race tracks which definately need a jokerlap, because there are that few overtaking possibilities.
anyone tried out World Sportscar 1970 yet? I really looking forward to drive these cars, but i just don't have the time this week to do that. i love the era.
seems like many are complaining about the models while the developers claim that the models are low poly on purpose (understandable with 130 cars in this mod / over 30 models)
do you race at deadmen racing on particular weekdays? because i would like to join. I can't see any schedule in the forum-link you posted, moose. unfortunately i do have very little time to race and often i see no historix server with enough racers to join in the lobby.
it's quiet difficult for a european soccer team to get into the cup, because their is such a competition. the last world cup has shown the dominance of european teams. the only reason europe won't get more qualifier spots for the world cup is that they could rename it to eurocup + argentinia/brazil.
on topic:
of course a football player is fitter than a racing driver!
but maybe you have enough to race with the historic gt mod .
I am also iracing subscriber and i agree that the physics and ffb are better there. i just think that it's too harsh to call all rfactors mods "crap". the multiplayer part of most racers beside lfs or the sound of the lfs engines deserve that word though.
p.s.:
about gpl-cars. point taken, but those tyres are really something different to the slicks in historic gt
when i switched from lfs to rfactor, i also had problems with the snappy oversteer behaviour of rfactor.
it was very frustrating and is still terrible in many mods. but on the other hand i think that the slicked cars in lfs are way too easy to drive. that's why it's so difficult to adjust to lfs.
i think the historix mod is already very accurate physicswise. don't forget, these are really old race cars .
there are a lot great mods out there, historic gt is not the only one and i don't think that setting up rfactor is that difficult. on the other hand, i am used to adapt to cars/simulations/setups rather then adjust cars/simulations/setups to my driving style.
1.) i am not at home, but i found an instruction on the USF1racing.com-website here it is:
As it is said above, you only have to edit the TracksDir-Parameter. You should use an absolute path not a relative one to avoid confusion.
2.)If you already have an unlocked rfactor on your system, you can have many other installs without having to unlock them. at least i think so. i never had to unlock my new installs.
i never had any problem installing a mod in rfactor, but on the other hand...
1. i read the readme
2. i use a fresh install of rfactor lite for almost every mod i like to race. it does not use much diskspace and i simply copy my profile/realfeel to the new install. voila, the mod is installed! that way i can easily delete mods without having nasty sideeffects on other mods. also the loadtime of rfactor is quicker.
my rfactor tracks are stored seperately, every rfactorinstall uses this folder.
right now i have a these rfactorinstalls:
VLN2005mod (185 cars, with 76 different carphysics, 29 Basemodels, definately worth a new rfinstall)
Historic GT (47 different models and 250 liveries, worth a new rfinstall)
Bockbierbude (automatically updated with the bockbierbude-app for use of many different car-mods on a bockbierbudeserver, over 50 different models)
TestRF (to test new stuff, with lots of mods, if its broken, delete and reinstall)
I think many users make the mistake of installing too many mods on a single rfactor installation.
i understand that a package system would make it all easier, but it's pretty easy as it is, if you are careful. Just don't install too much in one RF-installation (i know it's possible to install many mods on one installation without having trouble, but once you got a problem with conflicting mods, it's a mess).
