I and others have been "getting out" almost every single day in the last coupla years. At this point, not releasing anything besides the physics update and the Sirocco is getting pretty curious. Understanding that the Sirocco's tied to physics; but what about the cockpit updates, and Rockingham for instance?
That doesn't jive with the precedent Scavier's set so far. They are just taking one long ass detour, for whatever reasons.
1) Could you have a very simple ~2D driving physics engine like Generally's in a 3D game engine like LFS? E.G. by having only placeholder calculations for third dimension.
2) How simple exactly, code-wise, can you make such barebones driving physics in a 3D context like a modern big budget game like GTA or Battlefield with a large number of other graphics and physics-driven systems leaving only minor amount of resources available for driving physics?
2b) The specific goal is to have the bare minimum elements for steering vehicles around: a range of sliding from neutral to complete oversteer. No need for complex sim-level suspension or traction variance with contact patch size or pressure, etc. Just bare bones steering/sliding/thrusting dynamics where you can either steer or slide around a corner like in Generally.
Not a perfect gyro cam view, but one with slight delay in returning to level would be perfect. Ideally adjustable, the same way LFS manages straight XYZ bumps now.
It wouldn't have to be, but it would help sense of speed. At least a few sections as crowded as Le Mans or Solitude would work.
And you could have the pits at some elevation above the track so you're up to speed or nearer to it right out of the box, with e.g. switchback-ish entry on the other end.
I don't take this game or game forum seriously enough to delve into what's useless technical arcana to someone like me.
Before you roll your eyes at my passing off disinterest as sloppy neglect, I did take the time to point out what my actual cfg was and what I voted, so that in case I was wrong as I suspected, the poll maker could account for this in his stat gathering.
Not having much in the way of pedantry, I couldn't be bothered to look it up for the sole purpose of being accurate on this one video game poll. Thanks for enlightening me.
NEVER EVER tell sales and market what you are working on, they will try to sell it and take orders before you even know if it works and how much it will cost to manufacture."
I have no idea either, and not arguing either way. Just a clear visual of smoke better than LFS' so people can easily refer to it when they argue for relatively more or less realistic smoke.
Only circumstantially. Any other car that had highlighted the WIP physics' shortcomings as the Sirroco did, would've been blamed for holding up LFS development.
