BHMS: Will you be able to add extra things to your car, ie. racing body kits, weight reduction, mufflers etc?

LFS Team: It's more than likely there will be interchangeable parts for visibly separate objects like rear spoilers, wheels and mufflers but overall body kits will probably be whole pre-built models that the player can choose. There will be engine components and other invisible mods available which affect performance or handling as well.

Quote from Glenn67 :Other than poor driving skills by some newbies I don't think I've ever seen "obvious, deliberate and malicious wrecking" in S2 and that EULA can't be effectively inforced for demo so what are you talking about?

lol you sad sad people

I raced on anna's server lastnight, it had the lowest ping on the list. Funny how our antipodean friends can't grasp the concept of servers being in other parts of the world :P

Anyway, I raced for hours in cars I never drive (LX4, LX6, UFR) and had heaps of fun. There was one time when I ran out of fuel just 20m from the pits, and anna gave me a push even though she was in the lead... she went on to win anyway Thanks again for that!

Rest in Peace Peter Perfect. You will be sorely missed.

I'm so upset... Bathurst will be a very very sad event indeed, I'm sure it'll bring me to tears.

Quote from goode400 :I have this set up and it is fantastic! z800 HMD from emagin, track IR, Headphones, I'm right in there! Still can't win though!

as pointed out trackir is a bit redundant there - mind posting pics or your setup?

The goggles won't track head movement, so combine it with track ir and you can move your head without keeping your eyes focused on a stationary monitor. It'd be good fun, but I really wonder what it does to your eyes.

oh I can live without it don't worry, I only use it for racing because it's there Racing is mostly about looking forward, but flight sims are a different story entirely... I certainly couldn't live without it for flying

btw I don't understand what was said about losing the 'feel' for the car when using track IR... the view still bops all over the place and you can still feel when the car slides around, and most of the time I'm looking dead ahead anyway. TrackIR doesn't 'disconnect' you from the driver's head.

nice work guys...

I imagined they managed to get the track models and wrapped them on a sphere in a 3D proggy of their choice, is that right? I just noticed that none of the cars in the first pic were leaving any tyre marks on such a fast heavy loading corner Brilliantly done...

edit: actually on second look there are tyre marks, and the world doesn't quite look spherical so it must be some clever photoshop work!

The rally pics also spark the imagination... is this every going to be on the cards Scawen?

Quote from KiDCoDEa :the only thing persistant here is your aparent lack of interpretation skills when refering to my own opinion in a thread that requires users to say why they use or dont use trackir. no argument, just an opinion. if u dont understand it or dont respect it, fine, don't use it!

No need to be rude. Your first post was saying that your opinion is that they should stop making TIR because you think they're pointless. Ok, it's fine for you to think they're pointless, but it's pretty arrogant to suggest they should stop being made simply because you don't like them. Simple as that mate.

It's the vertical G's that cause one to blackout. Positive G's slow the flow of blood to the brain, which causes a blackout. Negative G's (when pitching down suddenly) will cause a rush of blood to the brain, which is known as a red-out because the pilot will literally see red if the G's are strong enough...

In an F1 car the G's are lateral, so the blood can still travel up to the brain, hence no blackouts. I've never heard of 9 lateral G's in F1 anyway.

Quote from KiDCoDEa :imho natural point should just stop deving trackir (its getting a bit ridiculous like rocky5) and dedicate themselves at making the cheapest widescreen vr googles with headtracking and headphones/mic.
1280x480 or 1600x600 for example.
trackir concept is a joke to me. its execution is well crafted though.

You're very persistant with this argument aren't you :P

If you don't have a need for it, fine, don't use it! BUt I can assure you that there are thousands of people who NEED it. I simply won't fly without a TrackIR because quite frankly I'd get shot down every time because I'd have lost track of my enemy. I run an aussie sim community at www.vaaf.net and the vast majority of us use trackIR for without it we're disadvantaged. The only alternative to trackIR are unrealistic padlock keys (views that follow an enemy automatically) or impractical VR goggles that simply aren't on the market because it is not feasible (yet). If VR goggles were the go, don't you think a lot of people would be using them by now?

Anyway, be damned if I want a screen an inch or so away from my eyeballs for hours on end, every day of the week.

so that's 2/2 who don't use their's in LFS, why not? I find it a bit of a pain sometimes but definately worth it in races for better situational awareness (but I still hit people, doh). For hotlapping or practice I turn it off though.
Who uses TrackIR?

I don't think I've ever met anyone on track that uses TrackIR so I'm curious how rare us flight simmers are?

Quote from Shotglass :im not exactly sure on this as i havent been around for the last 2 weeks but from what ive gathered there was a cheat enabling you to go very fast in 18 and 19 which was fixed in 20 and the exploitable versions got blocked

I've been looking at this thread on and off but haven't noticed this problem before (don't shoot me if it's a repeat!):

On Friday morning (in Aus) I tried joining a friend's private server for a league we race in, only I was getting an odd error saying I needed patch U (there was a number also, but I didn't screenshot it).

At the time I figured the host must have the new test patch 20 installed and it had compatibility issues, so I quickly installed it and I was able to connect perfectly ok. Now I was previously using test patch 19, and the server and most of the people in it were not using any test patches at all. I'd never had a problem like this before, even with test patch 19, so I'm at a loss as to why this happened. I know it's not a TP20 problem, as it seems to work now, but it does seem a bit of a worry and you might want to know about it for future patches...

so in brief - patch 19 had a (once off) incorrect version error when joining a standard S2U server, patch 20 fixed the problem.

Anyone else have this problem before?
