For me, this is the most anticipated patch in a long time... So few are playing w17 in my timezone but it is sooooo much better than the current patch. Manual starts & handicaps are really refreshing!
the FOX is definately modeled after a formula 2.0 car (the specs are identical), and thus the transmission is: Sequentially controlled, dog-clutch box with 6 forward gears, changeable ratios, self-locking differential
moonclaw please show an ounce of common sense and edit your posts. You're trying to turn this thread into a flame war against STCC by unnecessarily bringing up old arguments.
the tracks look great, but the cars are very basic. No doubt to allow for many on screen at once. It'd be interested to compare LFS graphics to other sims and then we'd have something to talk about. Anyone got some spare time to post comparison shots?
yeah don't take my example too litereally, there's so many ways of accomplishing the same thing.
on a side note... I'd love to see LFS's GUI updated with LFSW integrated into it (but keeping the website in parallel). The LFS menus are too large and clunky at the moment to allow this, and are alerady getting cluttered with the extra options being added in the latest patches.
That's just it! You think because at one time you could run S2 flawlessly, then that's how it should stay. Should we just roll back LFS to that point in time to where everyone can run it? Hell no, you'd all be moaning about wanting this feature and that... Before S2 is final it really needs to be cleaned up to today's standards. S3 would entail a new engine, but S2 can and will get some gfx updates which will most likely chew some FPS. Remember that LFS is unlike other products because it's a work in progress. You purchased an S2 license and downloaded S2 ALPHA , that means things will change a lot. So I stress, please don't expect LFS to run just the way it did when you first ran it - we don't want LFS to forever be using yesterday's technology
how about "yes, I have a 3 year old PC and I get over 100fps"
some people expect software development to sit still for 10 years so they can still play on their dusty beige dinosaur that wouldn't fetch more than $5 at a flea market.
Hosts have been given the power to make online career servers, and are doing so. So what's the problem?
You want every server to say, "sorry, but you'll have to drive the UF1 for a few weeks, even though you bought an S2 license".
A career mode for single player would be fun, but this is not a single player game... AI for a starters needs a huge revamp if it were to ever happen.
If someone wants to host a career mode then let them follow STC's lead, but there's no point enforcing every S2 user to earn their cars. It goes against what LFS is about.
Though STCC is well done, it has the nasty side-effect of turning LFS into a credit driven GAME.
considering one of the red bull junior drivers has a monaco flag (which i initially mistook for a polish flag!) I guess I could make a Jersey skin for you
Now, I'd like either #1 (the first attached file) or #27 (my personal car)
and/or
A montage of all of the official red bull junior team drivers' cars (all of these can be found in the post linked above in 2048 res). To clarify, the drivers are:
#5 Oliver OAKES, England
#15 Stefano COLETTI, Monaco
#16 Mika MÄKI, Finland
#18 Brendon HARTLEY, New Zealand
#19 Jaime ALGUERSUARI, Spain
This has potential for a real nice render if someone is up for a challenge, but I'm happy if only the #1 or #27 could be rendered.
regarding skin requests... the skin is meant to be realistic, so officially recognised flags would be appropriate... and the mirror colours are based off actual variants used - bright red, yellow or green. I considered releasing a template but I don't think the skin is worthy of the fuss to be honest. Thanks everyone for the nice comments.
extra skins:
#27, Australia (for myself)
#10, Ireland (requested by Dalek0220)
#11, Australia (requested by Chooki)
#12, New Zealand (requested by Juihi)
#42, Scotland (requested by unseen)
