I posted a Red Bull LX4 a while ago when I was new to skinning, here's what I think is a much better version. I've included one with and without number plate & branding.

ps: Next I'll do a Red Bull Racing version of the LX6 - i.e similar to the F1 livery.

Ok here's a quickie - it's the Red Bull can car that you see driving around the streets, minus the giant red bull can on the roof of course

I don't mind if anyone wants to use this as a base skin, so long as I get credited

well it all adds up! Certainly though, if you play the demo for a year and still say you can't afford to buy it, I call BS.

Buying S2 is the only way of proving to everyone that you're serious about LFS. If a demo user can't save up enough for S2 or if they would rather spend money on other things, then it shows they just don't care enough about LFS. So why should their voices be heard if they obviously don't care enough in the first place?

Quote from axus :So they can spend more time making demo teams, and want more features... why not give them another track while we're at it? People already race this game for too long before purchasing it.

You're right ya know... I know of no other game that allows for such a massive demo community. Check out the stats, they well outnumber PAYING customers.

Whilst I have pity for people who can't afford LFS, I also feel for the developers because they cannot afford to run a charity here.

Also, when you consider how many of the "S2 Users" are actually people using illegal hacks, the number of actual paying customers is a frighteningly small percentage of the user base.

it's obvious the demo users don't give a flying toss about S2, we've explained it over and over yet they ignore us and go on about their XRT's. HELLO your XRT is now capable of winning races! Before a week ago I would NEVER have seen an XRT peel away from my FXO, but now it does.

You're all crying like you've lost something. As though now you're at a disadvantage. Tell me why this is so...? Please, I aplore you to tell me how havign 20kg more is disadvantaging you when you're all racing the same car anyway? The ONLY thing to get upset about is that you're slower than the LFSW records, but if you actually read my post you'd know that problem is only a temporary one until the next physically incompatible patch. Therefore, you have NOTHING to complain about.

and y2k, your rules are spot on but why on earth do you think all of these amatuer series have better race craft than super v8's? And then say BTTC is A-Ok ?

V8's get a lot of contact simply because there are so many large cars trying to squeeze into tiny corners. The same rules apply, however.

way to go pmd, throw in another made-up law there. Why on earth would the rules be different for open wheelers? Please don't mention nascar, we're talking about circuit racing here, where rules of overtaking are pretty standard aross the board.

Of course the demo racers do not like the change - they don't have other cars to realise the benefits of this balancing move. That doesn't excuse their ignorance, however.

It's been said a million times, that this ballast system is a STEPPING-STONE to the next physically incompatible patch where all records will be wiped. Using the data from these patches, the car specs will be altered in order to allow for more even racing. It is exactly because of the LFSW stats that this has to be done this way. These patches are here to MAKE SURE the cars are balanced and do not need to be tweaked any more, thus, the new LFSW stats will remain valid. So if you're complaining about the stats, about having to do WR runs in single player, then you need not worry as it will be resolved soon enough. Show some patience, ESPECIALLY the demo racers. We have paid for our product, so why should you guys be so much more demanding and impatient?

On the flip side, perhaps now would be a good time to introduce a new car for the demo, another TBO to demonstrate how much fun it is to race different cars against each other. Yes, I also understand the importance of keeping the demo community happy, as it is where practically all S2 drivers started.

I might make a video of a 32 car race of FXO's + RB4's + XRT's for demo users to see - it's too much fun to miss out on.

so let's say two exactly identical incidents, one happens to me, the other to you. The incident is bad enough to make you vote to kick the offender off the server... but you wouldn't vote for my incident?

1) Scawen does not want there to be "different versions" of cars from server to server. It causes a lot of confusion, especially with setups.

2) Scawen wants to balance the cars so one car no longer dominates. An obvious move and you'd be silly to disagree with that.

Something's got to give, surely you can see that?

LFS won't stay unbalanced and exactly the same forever just so you and your buddies can drive your XRT's without any changes.

Put it this way, what about REAL racing series? They change every year, teams and drivers have to adapt to the changes every year and they don't complain because something worked differently last year. Suck it up and adapt. If this changed every month I'd agree with you, but it doesn't. I find it amazing that you are even complaining that things have changed since S1... What do you think this sim is called? "Live For Wasaabi"???

+1 however I do understand why wind is so unpopular - a lot of us tweak our setups over time, from race to race. If the environment constantly changed it'd be pretty hard and pointless to tweak setups in this manner.

Guys this is all well in theory - why don't you wait until you need to kick someone and see how the 8 vote thing goes?

Last night I was on the final lap of a 20 minute race, fighting for position, when someone decided to join the race and practice his drifting right infront of us for the entire lap. I kid you not, he was just ignoring the fact that we were trying to race, ignored the blue flags, and just kept unpredictably and violently throwing his car around the track. Then after that he was a complete and utter jerk about it. He just gave me abuse like "stfu" "cry more" and saying stuff like my race wasn't important because I was in 15th position (out of 32 mind you). Why would I spend 20 minutes in one race only to have it ruined by some self centred drifter on the final lap??

Long story short.. I voted to kick him, and explained why. Even still, it took quite a while for people to vote. It was actually only when he kept abusing me and saying those things that people realised he was a tool and then kicked him. He rejoined and was quickly vote-banned by someone else.

If it were the 50% rule he'd have gotten away with it simple because many people ignore votes, some people are afk, and some people don't like to get involved.

Another option would be to have "Yote yes" and "vote no". Each yes vote is +1, and each no vote is -1. With something like 8 required to succeed. We simply need to ability for people to object to a vote, in order to avoid situations where groups of mates abuse the system.

From my patch X experience the FXO is still dominant. The first 5+ finishing cars are usually FXO's... and when driving one myself I find it so damn quick in the corners I have to often brake to avoid hitting the XRT/Rb4 in front. The other cars still hold their own on the straights, however. It requires an early draft to be able to pass them - you won't catch them unless you're on their bumper on the corner exit.

One big disadvantage the FXO has is the start - it just spins and spins it's wheels and you'll spend the entire race making up those positions you've lost (though i'm sure you could tweak the set to improve it).

In conclusion - the FXO is still faster, but it doesn't dominate anymore. All rejoice at three makes of TBO fighting toe to toe!

ok I'm starting to think it's not such a good idea afterall... you really don't get enough time to adjust things as you're navigating your way to the pit box.

however, the script basically does what Vain's script does... reconfigures the dpad only when in F12 mode. I think i'll extend it a bit and make my own modes much like vain's...

"race mode" dpad and buttons for simple chat emotes (default)
"setup mode" dpad for ARB, brake balance etc, with F9-12 views bound to buttons
"strategy mode" F12 view on, dpad is for altering pit strategy, plus maybe some pit chat emotes

using modes will free up some buttons so I'll use one to toggle modes, echoing them to the screen so I'm not lost.

as for these getting confused when you pit whilst under a mode... it shouldn't matter now that the pit limiter isn't being used. You can swap modes at any time.

ok so in the end no new ideas here, but I'll release the script when I'm done. Should be handy for gamepad users but useable by wheel users too.

I've got it working more or less, but "/press L" (upper or lowercase) does not work.

yeah you're right about the pit thing... the logic would get flipped... i.e pressing it after pitting would turn the pit limiter off but load open F12 and the DPAD would be assigned incorrectly. hmmmmzies

I'll write the script anyway and see what can be done.

too easy, thanks

That single post tells me a lot about how to "script" in LFS. Thanks again

If you want to prepare for avoiding bad drivers, do what I did lastnight:
100 laps on a full grid of AI at FE1. It's surprisingly hard to get through a grid of drivers who brake earlier than expected, don't give you any room to overtake, and have a habit of spinning off infront of you From there, you have plenty of practice by lapping them as well. (sorry for OT)

Hi guys... I'm not sure if this is the right place for this request, as I haven't delved into LFS scripting at all. I'm a programmer by trade but I don't have a clue regarding LFS. I'm going to ask here just incase it has already been done, and if not, just a quick push in the right direction would be great.

What I'm after is this (two things):
1) When I turn on the pit limiter, the F12 menu opens. Turn it off, F12 menu closes.

2) When the F12 menu opens, I want to re-assign some buttons, and assign them back when it closes. Specifically, the d-pad & buttons on my gamepad are currently set to text macros. I want them to change to allow control of the F12 menu, but to revert back once it's closed.

Thoughts?

Thanks
