Yeah it's pretty amazing I haven't heard it, but I don't listen to public radio, or stream anything on the net. I like the beat a lot, I didn't realize how popular it is, hah, now it's stuck in your heads mwahaha:monkey:

Yes, the 4 DDR2 slots are for the system memory, has nothing to do with the memory installed on your video card. You can run any PCI-Express video card(s) on that board. (They must both be Nvidia to use SLI)
In case you're new to building PC's: When it comes to video cards, the concern usually lies with the PSU, specifically the ampage of the 12V rail. Basically just make sure your power supply will be sufficient, the video card(s) will list their requirements, these you can compare to your PSU specs. You'll also want to be sure the Nvidia cards are SLI ready, most if not all are though.

IMO it's a pretty good board. Supports all the best AMD Cpu's, supports SLI, has good overclocking abilities, and a good chipset, and a good price...heh, sounds like a winner.

Also, a friend has this exact board, from newegg, anyways, the ram slots sit a little close to the cpu, things sit very close to one another, little ackward to put together, well, it may be simple depends, but other than that as far as I know it's a great performer.

Do you like to use antialiasing? This seems to be the major difference between the two, although neither card will do very well with AA enabled, they just don't have the muscle, or rather, pixel processors. However I think you could use 2x AA without much trouble in most games. Anyways, if you like AA, you might be better off with the 3870, otherwise the 9600GT is the hands down winner. In my experience with Vista Nvidia has done a better job with drivers, although if you're running another OS this won't be much of an issue.
While they both support DirectX10 (Shader Model 4.0), the 3870 supports DirectX 10.1 (Shader Model 4.1), but I don't think this is a detail worth giving much thought.

In the end, the Nvidia card comes out on top, no matter how you look at it (with the exception of AA). Also, they both support PCI Express 2.0.

Anyone else like this song as much as I do? I'm a producer, and I only dream of beats like this, and the singer's voice is fantastic as well.

The benchmark by TomsHardware showed the 9600GT was quicker with antialiasing enabled, disabled the 3870 was quicker. The author at one point recommended the 9600GT to people who don't use antialiasing.
IMO the 9600GT is awesome, I'm getting one in two weeks. It destroys the 8600GT and even tops out the 256MB version of the 8800!

Quote from Eclipse2000 :Wow Noob replies ....
"I think he may have gone from dual channel to single channel. "

That changes nothing!

I gained 20-25fps when I went from single channel to dual channel, my bottleneck just happened to be my slower memory. Sorry I just don't see how dual channel memory "changes nothing".

I think he may have gone from dual channel to single channel. You need to pair up your memory for it to run dual channel. In most applications this won't make a huge difference, but anything that likes memory bandwidth it certainly will. If not it's likely the driver, rollback or uninstall-reinstall.

I'd try a software update for the keyboard and mouse, may just need a patch.

The only other time I've ever seen this happen, when it -wasn't- related to sticky-key (you have that covered) was when using an adapter to hook up your keyboard and/or mouse. You cannot use an adapter on some wireless keyboards because it interrupts it. If you're maybe using a PS2 to USB or USB to PS2 adapter, try not using it, if you're able to. Other than that, I'd have to say bad driver support or broken, either way = new keyboard.
I guess maybe, if nothing else works, it's worth disconnecting it entirely, remove the drivers, hook it back up in a different USB port(that is if you're even using USB) and install -newest- drivers and any windows optional update related to the hardware/software.

I had this happen when I first got my system up and running, and hadn't ordered my internet service yet. I took my tower to a friends house and hooked it up, booted up and unlocked it. Kinda a lot I know but worth it if ya have a long wait. Anywhere with open internet service will work

Cool. Likely just a corrupt game file.

In my experience tuning cars, this is almost always a timing issue. Most recent example; I replaced the bottom end of my Capri 5.0 with a block from a mustang, although identical in nearly every aspect the new one had a different firing order, I had flames shooting 3 feet until I realized the problem and redid the wires/gaps.

It's very likely something is disabled upon maximizing, so it's not an actual gain, rather an increase you would get had you not had the particular option enabled. Interesting though, I wonder what's being disabled..

A few weeks ago I upgraded from an Athlon X2 4400+ to a 6400+, and the difference at the start of a race, with 19 AI, was huge. 20-30 fps before, never below 50 now, avg 50-75 ,(at start, above 200 after that) same video card, all settings maxed, it's certainly the cpu.

Also, from experience, plus what I see on paper, a newer dual/quad core cpu, core for core, is far superior to older, single core systems. Many of us would notice this behavior, most software isn't multithreaded, and this software wouldn't run any better on a X2 system.

To OP: Myself, I would upgrade the processor, or wait and build/buy a newer system, good luck.

Does this -only- happen when you tab out, or quite the game? If this is the only time it happens, it's unlikely anything is broken, but the game is at fault.
It's so easy to reinstall you may as well give it a try, backup anything you want to keep (setups/skins etc..) and copy new game files.

If this doesn't work I bet updating your video driver will help. I doubt the card is broken, it wouldn't last through the gameplay. Again really sounds like it's simply not terminating, reinstall should do it.

Sounds like LFS isn't terminating properly, I would reinstall it. Also make sure you're not running -any- other 3D applications, or anything that utilizes the video card and/or it's driver.

Takumi, I doubt your video card is your bottleneck, as others have said, and honestly a 8800GT is uber overkill for LFS. I'm getting well over 200fps at all times, with a PNY 8600GT Overclocked Edition, which is nowhere near as good as a 8800GT. Once you get a processor and some good memory bandwidth you'll be rocking way above 200fps at all times. Even with a full field of AI you should get nearly 100 with, well even a low-end C2D processor.

About the 9600GT, I was very impressed!!! I read a few trusty reviews on it, and although it's not quite as good as the 8800GT, considering it's power handicap's it blew by the radeon 3850, and even beat the 3870 when antialiasing was enabled, however without it, the 3870 only beat it by 3-9%. It was a full 12-15% behind the 8800GT, but blew away the 8600GT and 3850, and also the 256MB 8800! For $170-$190 US it should be the mid-range card to beat.

Yeah if you don't desire the speed then you'll be good with the samsung.

I'd keep an eye on companies that offer lifetime warranties, and step-up programs as well. My favorite 3rd party board developers are EVGA and PNY, eh.. BFG too for the lifetime warranties.

Also if you don't mind a smaller hard drive, you should get something very very fast, perhaps a raptor.

This may have already been suggested I just don't feel like reading through everything, where do you have the game folder stored? Try storing it directly under C:\ all by itself and see what happens.

Nah nothing in background. LFS runs way over 200fps at all times, even with a full field of AI it fallls only into the 50's, but ony rarely, mostly stays above 200. I can run Crysis and other games very well, so I know there's nothing wrong, strange though, I can't figure why it runs so badly.

I don't think I've ever posted in here.. Hey everyone, name's Dave. Been racing offline for years, only started online within the last few weeks. Love the sim and can't wait to grab a wheel so I can advance my game.

My memory is dual channel, all settings are stock right now. In other benchmarks this chip moves very well, strange.

Here's my setup:
