Quote from D.Navickas :Yeah that is what i've been thinking for awhile but too bad i aint got no money for a new pc, all i've got is to buy S2 license and poorly get some RAM's. ahh well ...

Dude, just grab a 512 stick of ram, or even a 256, and a GeForce 6600, or Radeon 9600, or better. All can be done for well under $100us. It's your video card mostly that's hurting you, I had one of those and it was the most awful card I'd ever owned.

These two video cards are pretty old now, but more than enough for LFS, and would have been great cards when your PC was new. The GeForce will be a lot easier to find btw. Even a 7600GT can be had for very very cheap and would triple your frame rate.

P.S. More ram will never add to your frame rate, only prevent stuttering caused by disc thrashing when you're running too low on Ram. Only "faster" memory will have an effect on frame rates, and even if you somehow could put the fastest DDR3 memory on your board, the difference would be negligible, with respect to "LFS".

Bump, just one tho promise.

Nobody has an opinion or any experience with these two cards, or at least the 4890? Shouldn't it be much better, especially in DX games? So far my DX games run great on the 4890, while opengl games suffer 10-15% loss in frame rate.

Subaru was absolutely on my list, we waited almost 6 months before deciding. But in the end, she wanted safety, I wanted EcoBoost. Eh, I've had great reliability with Fords, and I've owned many. This is really a car for "her", and all things considered it was an easy decision when they gave me the deal they did.

"I think it's important to note something else about this EcoBoost technology, specifically that used in the SHO and several other FLM cars, this technology delivers V8 performance with "good" V6 fuel economy, not just "average" V6 fuel Economy; BUT, this engine puts out more power than many many many V8's, just just "a" V8, this is very important for people to realize. 365hp/350tq, this is "more" than most V8's, and a hell of a lot more than V8 sedans in it's price range, and 24mpg" - This is just something I wanted to point out, it doesn't just perform like a V8, it outperforms most V8's. It even has the low end torque of "good" V8.

Well I just googled and took the a pic of an exterior and one of an interior, as I don't have any pics yet, but those are accurate pictures, that's exactly what mine looks like. I admit the steering wheel could be nicer. I love the interior, and the wife as well, the seats aren't as nice "looking" as the Saab Aero 9-5 I traded in, but they're as comfortable, and that says a lot. IMO Saab makes some of the best seats, especially the GM900 models, like the '95 900SE 2.0T I have, oh god so comfortable.

Quote from Scrabby :The worst part of all of that niceness on your car DHRamstein is.
It has Microsoft crap in it??!!

I'm sorry but your car will BSOD and you'll have a fatal CTD.
Better take the Ford GT for a spin then.

I think it's a nice car.... Maybe just lots of jeallousy in this thread

/me goes play Forza Motorsport 3

Haha, funny no doubt

Also, the sync works perfectly, it's not a PC.. I will not have BSOD, but I figure that was a rhetorical anyways As far as the Ford GT, it's off the road for a while. But so far I've done a port mod, exhaust, pulley and tune, not much, 635whp. Oh Scrabby, how's FM3?? Are you able to compare it to GT5 or NFS Shift? If not, what are your thoughts of the game, this is a chance to get an opinion from a LFS (Simulator) user so I'd like to hear what you have to say, thanks man. And god hope the Sync technology doesn't fail, my wife can't find her way to a damn place lol...and she's a bad driver, so I don't want her stairing at printed out mapquest stuff, another reason I bough this car... For those that haven't used Sync, it doesn't fail, trust me.

Everyone has their opinion, but I think it's a good looking car, but I wasn't shopping for the nicest looking car. It's the safest car available in the United States, I have two children and a wife I love... But I have a need for speed, and I got an incredible deal, and great trade in value on the Saab, so I opted for the SHO, rather than the standard Taurus.

Ford is going all out with the ecoboost, in their I4 lineup, and trucks as well eventually, so at least one American car company has dropped the whole bigger is better bs. Regardless, don't judge a 2010 SHO until you drive one, it's incredible, I love everything about it and it's much better the alternative. Second on my list was the Jetta TDI, 50+MPG. But one drive in the SHO I couldn't believe the power and amazing 6 speed auto, and comfort on par with Saab, and Saab = COMFORT, plus the safety, all said, my family comes first, easy buy.

I have my own cars for my fun, but went for the SHO because when I drive it I'll enjoy it, plus I got an incredible deal, best deal I've ever gotten on a car, plus the family aspect is huge here.

And yes, the SHO is faster than that Audi, and several other overpriced Audi cars. Audi is overpriced here, but I like Audi and considered one, along with the Jetta TDI, and about 5 other cars, but an A4, loaded, it's like 40k, nah, I'll take my SHO at $37k, (Plus a little for the 12S package) and I got the option-package box marked 12S, and you get a more performance-oriented 3.16:1 ratio, along with bigger brakes, sharper calibration of the standard electric power steering system (the base SHO's itself is sportier than base Taurus), plus 20-inch wheels wearing Goodyear Eagle F1 summer tires.. And the Audi is a 200hp 2.0T, nowhere near the safety of the SHO, and more expensive. But I got an amazing deal on the car, under 40k with the 12S option, and after my haggle and trade in I got it at a steal.

*A video explaining EcoBoost in detail, with Fords plans and the engine in detail itself. Don't watch if you simply hate American car company's..but Ford is changing. It's ten minutes but it will give you some insight into what Ford is doing with Ecoboost, and how good it will be for the company. (It's gonna be huge, no more huge engines to make power.....)

Quote from Jakg :The other post wasn't directed at you specifically, but I don't understand why American cars are always given next years number - i.e. if thats the 2010 Ford Taurus you shouldn't be able to buy it 'till next year.

It's a marketing tool. Stupid really, nothing more than the auto industry trying to make you feel good about having a car that's as new as possible, at least that's how it was explained to me.

No worry I'm well aware it's not from the future Good question though, I've never given it much thought because I'm so used to it.

All 3 posts to me? I'm not sure but I'll address as so, if not my bad.

Quote from Jakg :Why are all American cars always given the wrong year...?

(pro-tip - your car isn't from the future).

Don’t follow the first part, and certainly not the second, maybe not directed toward me.

Quote from pearcy_2k7 :Not this guy again....

Don’t even start, please.

Quote from Töki (HUN) :Erm, is yours automatic too?

Eh, they're all 6 speed auto's. The other posts are a little confusing.

We finally needed a safe, reliable family car..but you know me, I want it to be fun. I figured I was stuck looking for a Euro, but the 2010 Taurus SHO caught my eye, I test drove it and fell in love. Traded in our other family car (Saab Aero 9-5)

Here she is:

Two of the many reasons I took this car. There are a great many, and I got a fantastic deal. I have no pics, no cam, will upload asap

It's great, all wheel drive, I can limit the speed of the car if anyone else drives it, any a million other features, the Microsoft Sync is just great, I drive this more than my other babies.
9800GTX+ 1GB vs Radeon 4890 1GB

The 4890 should be quite a bit more powerful no? Price not an issue, which card is more powerful and by how much. As far as I know the 4890 should blow the 9800GTX+ (rebadged GTS 250) away, with ease.

Exact cards are BFG 9800GTX+ 1GB OC (the OC is like 12mhz on the core clock, very tiny, nothing) and the other is the XFX Radeon 4890 1GB.

So far I'm testing the two, the 4890 is much better in more demanding games, in several there's very little difference (this is definitely a cpu bottleneck, old x2 cpu), and in one game the Nv card is a full 15% faster than the 4890, ETQW... I think it's a matter of drivers, and that the 4890 truly is a powerhouse like the numbers and benchmarks show...I mean isn't it more compared to GTX cards rather than a 9800GTX+/GTS 250?

Edit: This will be a gift for my bro who'll want to run the newest games with all the eye candy cranked at 1680x1050. Rest of system is an Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Black Edition 3.2Ghz, 4GB DDR2 800mhz dual channel/ and either of these Gpu's, so what's up? Look me out here... Because I'm also considering the 4890 supports DX10.1 and Shader Model 4.1, which has shown huge performance improvements over standard DX10. I actually saw this for myself in Stalker Clear Sky, which supports 10.1, and when enabled it's like 20% faster.

I just bought a XFX Radeon HD 4890 1GB. It's for my bro, birthday, he's running a 9800GTX+. He'll get some pretty good performance increase eh? All the benchmarks I saw showed 20-50% better, a few DX10 games were incredibly better on the 4890, I guess because it supports DX10.1, which is supposed to add a lot of performance to DX10.

Opinions? I already bought it, so was it a good purchase, got it for $159, new of course.
Jeez I feel so silly...(New rig I built probs)

So I completed this system about a month and a half ago, maybe a little more, and the first two weeks, no trouble, but no gaming, didn't have the Gpu's yet. So, I get the Gpu's, and my PC starts just locking up. No shutdown, no BSOD, no errors, just shut down. Swapped out memory, Gpu's, everything, couldn't figure it out. Then it starts turning itself on....on it's own. I'm told by everyone I called, 6 techs in all it's the video card or motherboard....I considered board, but was doubtful.

Then, today, I just happened to to be taking a book from the back, and notice the top back of the case is hot enough to burn my skin. I took the side panel off, the fan is spinning for the Psu. So I dunno what could be wrong. STUPID me, somehow I never noticed it wasn't changing speeds, I don't ever even recall hearing the fan at all. So I run to best buy and swap the Psu for another, and walla.

I feel so stupid, it's incredible the difference in fan speed. I guess the regulator wasn't working and it was spinning at idle at all times. Now, all my system temps are around 10*C cooler, and it's very obvious when I game or use an app that's intensive, the fan is actually very loud. But it's all good, it's such a good Psu, and Best Buy rocks for letting me exchange it waaay after their policy allows.

Just felt like telling my story. No $hit I've been using the top of an oscilating fan, just the actual fan part, next to the back of the PC so I could game until I could figure out what was wrong, because I stripped my old rig and I'm selling the parts, I would have been without a PC and I can't live without it.

I had suspected the Psu as well, when the PC started to power on, on it's own. I just can't believe I've been gaming with this rig with virtually no Psu fan/exhaust. Crazy.. I guess I'm getting rusty.

I know I know, "Need for Speed", but this one's different, much different.

If you're looking to have a great time, and just get a break from LFS, there's no better racing game. The physics are very good, not perfect, but damn good. What I don't understand is in the demo they're absolutely horrible, but I took the risk (because I want lots of content, cars, tracks) and the physics and graphics are nothing like the demo, at all...
The graphics are fantastic, the cars nearly as good as GT5, the tracks the best I've seen, and VERY accurate. The realistic cockpit effects are awesome, every interior is perfect down to the smallest detail, and super high resolution textures are used inside the cars.

It's a really great game if your willing to give up just a tiny bit of physics. It looks amazing, has the best tracks and cars, and it's a real blast online.

I'm having a real blast with it right now. It runs perfect on my older rig, but that rig is still kinda good. But it seems very well optimized. The car reflection update is real time, unlike the older NFS games. And oh god it's nothing like the older one's with physics, they must have hired the very best people, because when you turn off the aids (gotta have'em for the arcaders) it feels great. I'm having a real blast with it, and the cars sound and feel so real, they did a great job.

I'll be buying, I support everything they do, and I pay no mind to the risk, I feel very good about them continually updating and adding more content, it's just a very slow process. And that's okay.

Those 8600GT's don't use up too much power, especially compared to high end cards, it runs off the PCI-E slot alone. It would use more power, but not too much, but...man at such a high res I just don't see how you'll get that onboard Gpu to work for ya, you'll really need that 8600GT; which could have another bonus, it will offload the video work from your cpu to it, the Gpu, which can make for a much better overall experience, at the cost of some extra power and heat, but not much.

I sold the Saab my girl was driving and got two GTX 295 H20's, a friend bought me an Xclio A380PLUS case ( http://i.testfreaks.co.uk/imag ... clio-a380plus.2888755.jpg )that I thought would be perfect for a watercooling setup, so my present setup is in my sig. I -finally- picked up the wheel, so much happier. Got a huge desk, and have it set up and very much customized so I can use my Cirrus II for Flight Simulator X and the wheel with the pedals very easily and with nothing in the way. Grabbed a HDTV for use with the simulators, mostly FSX tho. But right now Arma II is taking up all of my time, and another reason I went after a really good Gpu setup. Arma II runs amazing and is the most fun I've had on a PC in my life.

Specs in sig: Cpu can OC higher but atm there's no need.

Regardless you won't have a great experience with that card. But your problem is odd, and I think it has nothing to do with GFX settings, if it's actually running at 50fps one second and 2fps the next. Sounds like an over heating issue to me. But I guess it wouldn't hurt to take the advice you've gotten so far, good luck. If the problem persists, clean your computer out and make sure your fans are working. Also you can download a program called HW Monitor, that will give you temps in real time, and fan speeds. DL it, leave it running while you play, exit the game, adn have a look at the HWMonitor and see what temps you hit, and you'll know if you're over heating. GL

Now that I own a Ford GT (Black with white stripes, identical to the one in this first video), I have first hand experience with it, and it's one of the most amazing sounding cars.

First video, this car identical to mine, except I'll have the wheels from the Geiger Ford GT installed in a few weeks.

I've owned a car where the light came on when you were empty, typical Chevy junk, only GM car I ever owned, and it was a hand me down. GM makes the worst cars in the world. Most of them don't even have a tach.

My new car has it all, so I don't need to install anything. But I can't figure out why this guy wants to install one, whatever, his car.

Quote from Jakg : Are you telling me if Best Buy had a faulty bid of hardware after 28 days then the manufacturer wouldn't give them a new bit?

Best Buy cannot get credit from manufacturers on all items they carry, therefor, some items they sell they can't take back after the return/exchange policy has expired. My particular PSU is one that they will get credit for, so the manager of the store is letting me exchange it, even tho he doesn't have to.

Okay, I'm gonna try really hard to be clear, maybe I'm just not taking the time to explain this properly.

Okay, I bought a brand new PSU from Best Buy two and a half months ago. Best Buy has a 30 day return/exchange policy, if it breaks after that, you must send it to the company that manufactured the item, and have them return you a new one. Yes, I would be required to pay for the shipping 'to' the manufacturer, they'd pay to ship the new one back.

I've had this PSU a long time, long after Best Buy's policy ran out. Technically, I should have to send it to the manufacturer to have it replaced, which is perfectly normal here, in the U.S. However, I spoke with a manager at Best Buy, explained to him what happened, how long it's been, and I'd appreciate it if he could help me out somehow. He took my phone number, said he needed to check and see if it were an item Best Buy could get credit for from the manufacturer, he called me back ten minutes later and said that they could get credit, and since I've been a long time customer, he'd do it this once. So today I got my new PSU, and my PC is fixed. Problem solved.
