Maximum Number of Cars for each Track
Gentlefoot
S2 licensed
I know that there are limits to the numbers of cars that can race on each track and not all of them are 32.

I saw a thread before about this but have seached and searched and cannot find it anywhere.

How do I find out what the maximum number of cars for each track are?

+1 for considering re-design

One of the chicanes I really do not like is the one after T1 on FE Club/Gold/Black. It's just a place for the race leader to tip the tires onto the racing line and gain more and more advantage each lap (or just make the car behind flip on its roof, if the poor guy is unlucky).

I find the chicanes cool if you want to hotlap (UFR at FE Green, that was a blast!), but not for [close] racing.

All that needs to be done at the FE chicane is for the barrels to be tied together just like they would be in real life. I've suggested it before. Same goes for a couple of the other chicanes.

Chicanes -- what are they good for?

Most real life tracks install or build-in chicanes in order to slow the cars down for safety.
We are virtual, there is zero safety to worry about. We should be going hella fast (and usually are).

There are several chicanes that are simple "cut here" markers. And servers have taken as many steps as possible to put in bumpers to stave people off from them. Is this is so, Remove the Chicane.

In general, if any Track is being reviewed for udpates from the devs, they should first look at any chicanes on that track and do all possible to remove them.

This is Live For Speed after all.

(just a thought, not a whine)

LMAO - That's ridiculous. Chicanes are about weight transfer from one side to the other in quick succession and often while on the brakes or power. They can be very challenging. They are also a total buzz as you are often 'threading the eye of a needle' and pin point accuracy is required.

Quote from MRSisson :But! But...! but August 26th is American LeMans at Mosport! Everybody should be driving-flying-swimming-biking-crawling to Canada and watching that.

20 GMT works out to 4pm Sunday EST here in Canada. That is actually perfect for me. I have been in one league (GPL), but the times in most leagues never seem to jibe with my work schedule. Ima gonna think on this for awhile

Wish there was coverage of American Le Mans here in the UK. I'm a Le Mans freak and went 5 years in a row until things conspired to stop me.

Hope you can join up mate. This league isn't so much about speed as it is about awareness and consistency so not too much practice is required before races. All the skills are learned during the actual races.

The GFC caters for a wide range of skills. Speed is not important in the GFC - awareness and clean racing is.

Not bad - I'm on 11. Lowest I've seen is Moose on 10 and I race him often and he is virtually mistake free most of the time.

This thread has made me chuckle a bit. The words 'toys' and 'pram' spring to mind

At the last round of the GFC we were down to only 20 runners on the grid - although everyone seemed to enjoy the race. So we are looking for new guys and the next round should be very exciting - South City Long Reverse.

If you were planning to wait until season 2 to enter I strongly recommend you get some experience now. This format is very different from single formula racing.

Hope to see some new signees.

Race 5 was a great success. Have a read of the post race reports to see what happened. There are also stats and standings available already. All this can be found at:

I've disappeared from the rankings for some reason. Have 416 points in single seater but am not listed.

EDIT: I see - I'm not allowed to use Gentle Foot as my name.

Personally I think the laps:yellow flags ratio is a very good indicator of how consistent the driver is. All the drivers I've looked at seem to have ratios as you would expect. The guys who I know can do 50 laps of a track in a league race without crashing have very low ratios. Those drivers who I know are prone to mistakes have higher ratios.

Seems pretty accurate to me.

Also, letting people past you when under blue flag without having to slow to virtually a standstill while at the same time not compromising the passers lap is also a skill that you learn in LFS.

The GFC with it's dual class formula teaches you how to do this.

No difference in whether you use auto clutch or manual or blip or whatever. Personally I use sequential paddles but then I drive the FOX most of the time or the FO8. In these cars you cannot down change quick enough with manual clutch and H shift because of the characteristics of these cars. This means I lose a lot of time in braking areas when using manual config.

In road cars the penalty is not so great as you don't knock off speed so fast in the braking areas. However, I am still faster with sequential paddles and auto clutch than without.

In some motorsport here in the UK if you have a sequential box it is considered a huge advantage and you are moved up a class - a bit like having a turbo.
