For racing sim physics is the most important thing. For racing game (pcars, forza, gt5) graphics is more important because not only is the good graphics what the target audience wants but also what sells it. For some people the graphics is what makes a game realistic for example. For example when a donkey reviews lfs and iracing they simply think iracing is more realistic because it looks better. Non-donnkeys know better. But then again the majority of people are donkeys when you look at them from sim racer perspective.
Graphics are just something that can only be good for a short period of time. Good physics are good always. If lfs had great graphics but poor physics no one would play it. It would have no target group anymore.
Of course we also need to remember that good graphics is not just about advanced rendering engine, smooth shadows and reflections and good looking textures. It is also about smooth fps and purpose fitting graphical look (motion of the cars or realistic graphical effects). For example one of the graphical things lfs and even the first gran turismos did well was the motion of the cars.
I think Massa's bad performances made Alonso look a bit too good imho. I don't believe for a second the ferrari of this season was total turd or even close to being as bad as some people make it sound. 3 best cars of the season were clearly redbull, mclaren and ferrari and it varied from race to race which was the best. While the ferrari of this season did not win drivers' or manufacturers' championship it still wasn't a bad car. Mercedes had a bad car. The merc was a turd. Just because the press says the ferrari was turd doesn't exactly mean it is true.
It is really tough call between hamilton, vettel and alonso imho. Without car trouble hamilton could have won the dwc. Vettel drove well but was also lucky when he was unlucky (abu dhabi) while alonso and hamilton did not really have much luck. So the final point standings are a bit deceiving.
- How is the AI at higher power levels (F1 car). Current AI seems to bash into me a little when overtaking takes place.
AI is pretty bad and slow. Contact happens but the cars in lfs can take really big hits before you get any real damage. So in general the collisions are not a problem.
- Is the AI on a par with rF2?
Main problem with lfs AI is that they are really slow. RF2 AI has its own different problems but in general lfs ai is not really the selling point of this sim. If you want to race only against ai rf2 beats lfs hands down.
- Will the AI continue to challenge me?
No. You can always put restrictors on your cars to slow yourself down though.
- demo track seems a little lifeless - all have this feel?
Pretty much yes. And there are not many tracks either.
- Textures in the demo track a little low res (trees) any updates for this?
No. There are mods for it though.
- Is there a dynamic track (grip different on and off the racing line) - does it build during a race?
No. There is only a visual effect of rubber laid on track.
- Is this product really still being developed - really!???
No. The last patch that came with content was in 2006. If you buy lfs you buy it because of what it is now. If you buy lfs expecting any kind of development or content you will be seriously disappointed. There is no new content coming period. The next content update is S3 that is probably years and years away. And it will cost 12£.
LFS as it is now is still solid performer. But there are alternatives that are better. Rfactor1 and rf2 are still good solid sims with tons of extremely good content that totally destroys lfs.
The competition has simply overtaken lfs. All lfs has left is simplicity and easy of use and if you value those two things (and literally don't care about anything else) then lfs is your choise. But personally I'd recommend checking out rf1, rf2, game stockcar, gt5, pcars, assetto corsa. And then look at lfs again to see if you really want it.
I don't care about graphics but those physics look just really really bad. Plus the tracks seem to have horrible low-polygon bumps. If it had proper physics it could be fun but simply just looking at the videos it looks even less realistic than pcars imho. It doesn't even look wrong - it looks strange.
I have no idea why anyone would pick Senna over Sutil, Barrichello, Buemi, Algersuari, Kovalainen, Trulli, di Grassi, Ambrosio... etc. other than money... It would not surprise me one bit if he got a seat for 2013 and then bought another seat in 2014 from different team.

Maldonado, schumacher, hamilton, grosjean... I made all the wrong choises at the worst possible moments
I asked them about this before the season and I was told that they are planning to make some changes. But I'd guess they forgot or something. We did not even make it into the top50 this season.
I will wait couple more days before doing the draw. Every one of those teams that remains unnamed will not be part of the draw simply because I have no idea who those might be.
The payment is probably easiest done with paypal I think?
This is the only f1 manager game out there where positions can change after first races. In every other f1 manager game it is all about getting it right early in the season and after that it is almost impossible for others to catch up. It is much worse in other manager games. While I agree there is a lucky small set of players who break away early in the season but in this manager game that effect is smaller than in other similar games.
This has some unique things that spice it up nicely and also prevent those early breakways in some ways. Bonus questions, bets, prices fluctuate according to how the drivers do the track, dynamic transfer fee (if you are on the top it is little bit more costly for you to make changes to your team than a guy who has less points overall) etc. While all those add randomness those same aspects still help the situation somewhat too. And almost all of those things are missing from other f1 manager games.
Lack of depth is debatable imho. More depth often times means more time consuming. I think in a way the lack of depth is a positive. It makes it easy and fast to do this for every race.
Lack of support is a problem though. No emails for bonus questions, no reminders of any kind, lacking bonus questions, the site is constantly kinda late with bets and even once there were no bets to choose... These are all annoying problems but not game breaking imho.
I think the site has very good basics that simply works though. This is imho the best f1 (free) manager game in the internet. At least the best f1 manager game of this type. If you can find better one I have absolutely no objections changing to better one. In fact I challenge everyone to find a better game for next year! I just don't think there is one.
Getting more people is difficult though. As long as it is going to be lfs centered league our only audience is lfs players (and forum readers). To be able to compete for the subleague win we would need probably 5-10x as many people as we have now. To achieve that the only real choise would be for us to create accounts on neogaf or other big forum and sneak into their subleagues .
Replay quality does look extremely bad though (the lotus has no roll in the corners for example). As a whole it does look "nkpro" though. Looks kinda promising but I think it does hurt it a little when the driver has probably done only little practise before those runs. Would be nice to see how that lotus looks at the limit. Yeah, it's a wip. Nice to see some running material though!
As long as the impact comes from the right angle the cars can take extremely big impacts. But if the impact comes at wrong angle relatively minor contact (like maldonado vs grosjean in australia) can break the car despite the collision can look pretty light.
