I went and bought the 225BW. Yay! No need to plan my computer usage before hand and pray that it would work
No dead or stuck pixels , but some backlight bleed on bottomedge
Not so much if I lower brightness to near zero (image is not totally black then, it's like extra-brightness setting or something...)
I'm not exactly smiling ear to ear, the backlight bleed irks abit, but can't say I'm disappointed.
Boy do those web sites designed for 800x600 look wierd, there's same amount of empty space right of the screen as the content is wide illepall
The 225BW atleast to my knowledge doesn't have such feature, but the Nvidia drivers with the new control panel interface do have such feature. Under Display, option called "Change flat panel scaling".
My 10 years old 20" Sun monitor has been in terminal care for a while now... So I've started to look for a new monitor, specifically Samsung SyncMaster 225BW.
Googling about it I found out it has only TN (Twisted Nematic) type of display, the image quality isn't that good apparently - Is it really so?
Besides that, from what I've read, there's the thing that old games don't like widescreen monitors -- image looks stretched.
I do play games quite alot, so the above issue is quite big for me*.
So fellow LFSers how does the 225BW and widescreen monitors in general work in the genre of games we play?
* Mostly interested in LFS (AFAIK is ok with WS), RBR, GPL, WarRock (has WS support but only for 1280x768 not the 225BW's native 1680x1050)
No you can't discuss them, only post if you find a problem in the testpatch (ed: which isn't solved by reading the 1st post and the thread). It's allready full of nonsense posters and posts
Try putting the file name in quotes "C:\Program Files\LiveForSpeed\LFSmomoLeds.exe" if that doesn't work, use the short path/file names c:\PROGRA~1\LIVEFO~1\LFSMOM~1.EXE
If one has invested in a multiturn wheel, 3 pedal set and H-shifter, one shouldn't be in an inferior position to other using lesser setup like the situation is currently.
There fore I support these options and everything that makes 'the manual/harder way' faster.
I can't image how having hardcore (forced cockpit view, no aids, 3 pedals, multiturn wheel, h-shifter) etc could do much harm to LFS, hell you could even possibly get Logitech and/or BRD sponsor LFS if it would have such servers.
There's already games out there that I can't play at all because they use features only provided by newer GPUs and need more oomph than my PC has. How's that different than having couple server one can't play on because they require certain devices? If one is truly serious about simming then they buy the devices needed.
I'm not entirely sure but I think my DFP went wonky when I started to unplug the power cord*. Or I might remember it wrong, and it already was wonky before I started doing that, or it was just a coincidence
*Got fed up with the self calibration, besides if it's on edge of a shelf the damn thing could fall because it moves abit during the calibration. It already has happened couple times
Other option is to make* a profile for HL in the nvidia drivers and in the advanced options, set hardware acceleration to single display. I've never tried that, as I only have one monitor, but it should work... IIRC there is a benefit aswell doing it that way, as you gain some more FPS.
* if you use the latest drivers with the new control panel, you need to change to advanced view then you can access the program settings in 3D settings -> manage 3D settings. It already has a profile for HL unlike the old panel.
I have mild belonofobia (fear of syringes/needles). It's not the needles itself that I am afraid of, but the sight of seeing one piercing through the skin makes me sick and it sends shivers up and down my spine :yikes:
You should feel lucky, you've found a lass who doesn't like plants!
+1 for 1 line sigs with forced size 1 text and light gray color, no bolds, no italic, no underline except in links, no all caps and no images. Maybe then I would enable signatures again..
Congestion you can try sort of check by trying ping in the early morning 6:00ish.. Then the net usage is the lowest usually.
The spammers/etc you can check by closing all programs using the net (ICQ, Messenger, Skype, Google Talk, P2P programs, etc) then wait a moment and run TcpView, the list should be almost empty.
I can't think of anything you could check the router without changing it... one thing worth a try is to disconnect the power and restart it.
I think there's something wrong with your hardware, or your pc is being used by warezors/spammers/something. I have 50ms ping to your 2nd hop...
Or it might be that your neighbours/people living in the same area all use DC++/BitTorrent etc programs 25/8. It can happen if your ISP is oversubscribed or near the limit.
