nice suggestion but IMO light map are useful only to simulate lamp spots at night with very little cost in performance, and scawen already mentioned that he want to make real time sun/lighting.

Great progress LFS devs, Eric work on this track is very clean, can't wait to see more tracks or cars released/updated with such excellent quality.

I hope you will find a way to finish tires physics as fast as possible so you can focus to improve graphical engine ( real time shadow/light etc.. ), no way to keep this amazing work with such dated graphics.

Scawen had the netcode and multiplayer UI at a very high level from day 1. It's the reason this game took off like it did back then. If it's 9 out of 10 now, it was still 8 out of 10 in the demo days. Multiplayer was clearly just as much a priority as physics, and rightly so.

Netcode and slick, efficient UI doesn't sell units like shiny graphics and going fast in Ferraris does, though, so it's understandable why other titles don't give it such attention. It's just a shame for those that actually want to race each other with it.

yea never said that AC is better than lfs, scawen did some proper job on that side ( mp ) and that why I still playing LFS, but IMO™ AC is the first modern sim that I really enjoy driving even in solo and am sure kunos will do their best to improve mp netcode.

slowly but surely this sim is getting better over updates.

yea give them 1 or 2 year to polish their game and making something reliable, you know LFS netcode like you see it today was result of years of optimisation, same thing with other popular sim.

AC has many different issue, but in term of physics IMO it's the best.

WR is around 1.07.7* so you have to practice hard to do 1.08, there are plenty of good setup for rallycross, you can try mr.sam setup to start practice with: http://www.setupgrid.net/?action=setup&setup_section=hotlap&get_setup=get&setup_id=XFG@BL2

there is no many driver like was in the past who still play in rally server, crash server are the only one with some form of popularity.

anyway if you need help we can connect to a empty server so I can give you some setups and trick .

hm I found a solution, if you have Nvidia card go to nv panel > manage 3d setting > globale setting > power managment mode > prefer maximum perfomance.

I experienced some problem with lfs on my friend pc, when I opened lfs for the first time I have 500 fps but the second time i exited lfs and do some browsing in internet when i returned lfs was in 200 fps max ?? anyone have experienced this strange fps drop without reason ?.

cpu and gpu temperature is pretty normal, so there is no overheating affecting performance.

pc: intel core I7 2600, 16gb ram, GTX 750 ti, windows 7 pro 64bit.

thanks for response and very interesting project but I think it's too much for you alone, you need some help from friends or someone who want to be 100% involved into your project because even a team of 10 personne like kunos have trouble at many point, only genius team like scavier can achieve something good with tiny resource ( also in visual side there is still some problem due of that ).

If you mean the sharp edges with specular lighting, then there's nothing I can do, since it depends on the detail of a polygonal mesh which is really poor.
There are 2 ways to fix it:
Modification of .VOB file with higher mesh detalisation, which is not quite a legal, or additional textures for materials so i could add normal maps for smoothing edges and adding details.

Anyway i can do really something beautiful, if i had more access to LFS graphics.

For example, I have attached screenshots of one project which I'm working on.
All graphics is realtime(exept the motion blur).

interesting but what is that ? a simulator or a simple graphical engine ?, btw look like you using assetto corsa mclaren, right ?

try without DOF, and delete all external app.

I (myself) used lfs a lot for training when I was in driving school, using layout or cruise servers, because lfs simulate almost all physics aspect and car like xfg or uf1 are good for that.

someone who purchased lfs are supposed to use this game like he want, cruise or racing doesn't matter at all.

interesting possibility with those shaders file, it's just a matter of time to get some real time car light/reflection.
