Oh so USF1 finished their car?

Quote from Intrepid :With experienced drivers this wouldn't be so bad but with F1 rookies it is irresponsible to turn up with absolutely zero testing. Even club racers wouldn't dare to do this.

You're going to have only 3 hours testing on Friday and about 20 or so cars on the track at the same time. It's going to be hectic, bordering on dangerous. Even Schumacher felt the need to get some GP2 testing under his belt.

Jaime did well in Hungary but that was with an ordinary well established team and reliable tested car.

Yeah...it'll be interesting to see I'll have to admit

I think Campos is already on their way to start. I mean they said that their "testing" will be the Bahrain race...which is very VERY Mastercard Lola....So....yeah.

USF1 has basically admitted that they cant participate this entire year and are asking to see if they will be able to extend it to 2011. (Read it somewhere idk where).

But FIA has said that they still might not let Stefan F1 in so there might not be a 13th team. Personally I hope that Stefan F1 does come back. Kazuki Nakajima and JV back in F1....oooooh let the praising and mudslinging begin

Quote from UncleBenny :Did anyone else notice Harvick waving out the window at Danica when he lapped her early in the Nationwide race? I have to find a video of it, he was definitely doing something.

I think Danica thought he was giving her the finger? But the announcers said that he was actually trying to tell Danica to go to the outside line as that's a better line to take?

Wasn't anything special fortunately. All of Hawaii just shut down and there wasn't anything that happened. Of course it is better to be safe than sorry. But the tsunami wasn't there

Quote from boosterfire :It's already hard enough to get American folks interested in an entirely American F1 team, I don't see them retaining much interest in an American-Serbian team. Especially considering the lack of American drivers.

I don't see how USF1 expected in any way to make the first race. I mean, a few months ago what they had allegedly completed on the car was nothing more than the nose, and it looked like something you'd find on a 1995 F1.

I'd rather have less teams that know what they're doing than a grid full of under-financed teams that have no real idea what's going on at this level of racing.

Do you think Lotus and Virgin both dont know what they are doing??

it seems that the only real true fail would probably be USF1 if they enter, and maybe campos if they dont hustle right now. As for an American-Serbian team...I think by now, just making the grid would be a reward enough...and combining resources would have USF1 a better chance at making a decent effort

Although...I can totally see Branson shooting some very sketchy porn with Lucas, Timo and that VR-01...and the team's name is Virgin F1...

Anderson and Windsor needs to wise up already. In all honesty the merger would be fantastic and it would atleast enable some american effort in F1 and have the effort somewhat decent and not a complete laughing stock.

If this merger doesnt happen the likelihood of USF1 just being there this season is very low and if they do manage to get there they would be so underdeveloped there would be no real point anymore.

If Stefan is willing to merge that's a godsend already. If Anderson and Windsor wants a full US effort with a US car? Well...too bad, maybe you should have organized your team better...i mean, it's not like you were handed you FIA acceptance just now

Quote from nightojnr :Ok that makes alot of sense.

Why is development taking so long?

They needed to completely redo the physics as far as I know. Which...yes does take a long time but by now it's starting to get a little weary to wait for.

Not complaining, just that while Bathurst would be fantastic, there are just a few more immediate things that need to be taken care of atm

I'm all for the idea...but part of the problem is that LFS is going slow enough as it is.

There was a promised new patch that was suppose to have been released over a year ago and there's still no indication that it will be released anytime soon.

Not to mention that they are also working on another real life track: Rockingham, and that has no indication that it will be released in the future as well.

Bathurst will have to be a luxury unfortunately until the devs start to release content at a more regular (and quicker) pace. IMHO, LFS should focus more on what would make it a better sim. Such as damage, a (complete) aero model, break offs, engine damage, track temperature, dynamic wind system, rubber build up, fix buggy barriers, better hit detection.

Only when ALL of those listed above are completed will I start to push for more real life tracks. But for now, those still unfortunately remain a distant luxury. In fact, I'm not even hoping for LFS to improve as a race sim (beyond the promised tyre physics) anymore..which is very unfortunate imho

Quote from JVIONE :I am open to any suggestions,,, I agree that the flatout oval racing gets old fast...... So please give your suggestions to Ori,, as he will be in charge of our oval server......He will have all final decisions after consulting other IHR
members including myself... Ori will oversee all rules and day to day managing of the oval server...

So please see him for all ideas and suggestions

Very simple....Just replace any two lineups of your choice with FZ5 and XRT (preferrably FXR and FOX, those are the most boring)

Like....FZ5 or XRT on oval? That would be much better than FXR or some other flat out combo. Good to see another oval server though. I'll definitely pop in now and then

Quote from tristancliffe :I could only watch 45 seconds of the video before it annoyed me. MAybe it was enlightening to a moron, but when he started describing speed, mass and track length as forces I gave up...

A lot of the video was kinda retarded when it exaggerates quite a lot on the extent of how the variables surrounding a race car affects the driver. Martin Brundle's F1 insight was a more intelligent look at how a race car is very physical. But hey...this video's american entertainment...you'll bound to have some exaggeration

But what personally (and the only thing that) surprised me is how much consistent G-Force ovals can generate. I had no idea that Texas basically generated 6-7 Gs consistently with ChampCar. I also had no idea that the oval had a history of generating too much Gs in which ChampCar had to actually stop going to the track.

Texas is really tame compared to some of the massive superspeedways though...what would have happened if they went to Talladega or Daytona? I hear even the Dover oval's banking is 3 stories high.

Quote from tristancliffe :F1 tends to have fewer high-g corners per track than Indy/Champ/Cart. And F1 uses a lot less track camber (banking) so that lateral G is pretty much the overall G, rather than combining it with vertical G relative to the chassis. Even at 'just' 160mph an F1 car will easily pull 5G purely laterally.

I think Spa is an example of 5Gs in which Eau Rouge generates about that much including negative Gs when you go down the corner.

Quote from marsaz :I might be wrong, but 5 lateral and 4 vertical Gs combined equals to 6.4G overall. That's a much more realistic figure than 9G but still 6.4 is A LOT.

Yeah 9Gs is too farfetched. I thought around 6-7Gs. But imagine a consistent 6.4Gs for 2 hours

I just got around to reading this. TBH the XRR or FZR is a better car for the oval...just more exciting in those other two

I probably would have signed up anyways...give it patience mate...there's still quite a few oval racers in LFS the last time i checked

I thought the CARTs at Texas was taking about 7Gs consistently....9Gs sounds a bit much. But they did call the Texas race and CART (ChampCars) eventually stopped going to ovals in general.

This whole problems with the oval generating too much consistent Gs gives a good explanation as to why tho (and it also explains why IRL consistently caps the IndyCars or makes them heavier when they dont need to)

ISO because TPE is a forced code on to Taiwan. Yeah sure, I'll probably race under china. But right now I'm on the verge of getting a Taiwan citizenship and I might change back to Taiwan.

It's absolute BS that China forces Taiwan to compete as "Chinese Taipei". It's pretty much a slap in the face to the Taiwanese.

Quote from 5haz :Sounds like it, as you know Texas is very steeply banked and the reports coming from so many drivers makes it sound plausible, I remember it making the headlines in motorsports over here.

Texas is always a wild one. But even the phrase that "race car drivers experience more G-Forces than shuttle astronauts at lift off" made me raise my eyebrows. But then again....race cars aren't pressurized. And pressurizing and that is what lowers the G-Forces?

I just recently watched this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rR28fH1J_do

First of all, do not turn this into an anti-American (or american motorsport) thread. I didn't create this thread to argue the merits of American Motorsports.

There...well I'm just mainly curious. Cause that video sounds like a whole lot of exaggeration. However, I do realize that open wheel racing in general (ovals or circuits) is very difficult on the body.

Did this really actually happen the way they said it did in C.A.R.T? Cause that sounds REALLY extreme but it would explain why they are trying to cap IndyCars at a certain speed (i think it's 240 mph). Also, why didn't this happen in F1? Is it because F1 G-forces are less consistent? (a lot of low speed corners and straights).

I was told by a friend that an F1 driver would experience more G-Force because of the heavy cornering but a IndyCar driver would experience a more consistent amount of G-Forces because of the centrifugal effect of oval racing.

Just would like to clarification on this.

They confirmed Kazuki Nakajima and they said that they are close to a contract with Villeneuve.....

Can you imagine either of them in F1 again?
