Quote from Bmxtwins :Any chance of Rockingham oval? At first i thought it was the USA nascar track... but kinda funny theres a rockingham oval track in UK too.

Rockingham will include all layouts except the rally stage. Which means the oval will be included too. Which also means that LFS will finally have a proper oval.

Quote from JJ72 :Just skipping the obvious, you might just go and say they are both laid with tarmac, both mostly grey, and both have left and right turns.

Try driving it in rfactor, the infield is hardly flat, there are a lot of crests and camber, the track overall is a lot slower as well, and it will have the first proper hairpin in LFS.

(I don't know why you even includes "large pitland areas", pretty much explains that similiarity ends with the oval tbh.)

I agree, Kyoto would theoretically be much faster compared to the rock in LFS. Even oval wise the rock would be slower than the kyoto.

Quote from PedraumF :Still, they're similar in a load of aspects, not only in appearance and obvious aspects... You could compare to Laguna Seca, Daytona, La Sarthe, Potrero de los Funes, Westhill, Trial Mountain and Toban, then they wouldn't be similar...

If you were comparing the Talladega infield circuit with the Daytona infield circuit then in that it is almost identical. Just because a lot of the Rock is a roval doesn't mean it has to be character less. It's much slower (even oval wise) and it has a lot of elevation and crests. (Unless rFactor is completely inaccurate)

Quote from mutt107 :lol, that looks fun
but i would want this http://micheleroohani.com/blog ... ck-car-jacom-stephens.jpg

There's actually nothing wrong with the European Late Models. No real need to make "american" counterparts.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v ... ynext_from=PL&index=1

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Late_Model_Series

Figured that the devs would have better chance at access to these monsters instead of flying all the way across the pond

Of course, I also doubt that we'll be seeing a stock car as "the new car", but on another note....FINALLY A PROPER OVAL!!!

Quote from aroX123 :Jordan tried to find bugs he said to me, and if you hit the wall, no more crazy shit with the barriers,
and very good graphics. or maybe he had tears in his eyes because it looked so awsome and he thougth it was better graphics?

But so far we know about this in next patch:

-Wvs
-new track
-graphics(?)
-fix barriers/walls
-???

Was it confirmed that we were getting another track for the next patch? I thought it was just the VWS?

Quote from Danas :Anyone with some normal pics? So we know that the track is made and everything, any other pics of in-game action or something associated with LFS in the event today?

A video of a FO8 or a GT around the Rockingham (including the proper oval) would be nice

Quote from Takumi_lfs :Track doesnt even look so special.... I hope that it wont be released for lfs. I think that they made that track special for "where you played it"

If this turns out to be a proper oval then it's all the while worth it. Kyoto oval was such a fecking hatchet job it's unbelievable how crap it is

Quote from SidiousX :He's not even in the chase, but I can see him being in the chase next year, he did great for a (semi) rookie.

I dont think MWR is chase material yet. Yeh, I know that Reutimann almost got in and probably would have if he didn't get taken out by Hamlin.

But still, I think chase material is still a bit of a stretch for MWR

Quote from DarkMellie :It's a racing-sim forum?

Take it for what it is imo... a half-sim, half-arcade ball-tearing blast of a racer.

The point of the arcade is to make the game easier. There is nothing easy about Need for Speed Shift. However, it is very un-sim like because the car responds in such a bizarre way (granted I've only driven the lower tier cars).

Just because a game is hard doesnt necessarily make it a sim or good. IDK, i'm not liking it so far. But I'll keep playing

I'm currently in Tier 2 and all I know right now is that the car understeers like hell, even when the racing line is green.

IDK if it is because I'm playing it on 720 rotation? Should I change it back to the 180 default? (Although that would be highly unrealistic for the touring/GT cars...)

At low speeds, not realistic... at high speeds, more realistic than LFS or rFactor-mods.

That's probably y. So far I'm still driving the lower class touring cars (I'm currently in a Scion).

I'll keep playing until I reach the GT then i'll make my decision

"What the fu.. is this piece of shit.... cant even drift properly... Doesnt even have NOS..... Didnt know NFS can get so crap...."

Well...ur friends obviously never touched it cause this NFS still has NOS (yes u've read correctly).

I used a G25 with 720 degree settings (what i use for tin top LFS and rFactor)...and...if it just me? Or does this game just feel wrong? Haven't tried the faster GT cars yet...but everything feels wrong to me...heck, rFactor (properly calibrated and ffb addons) feels so much better than Shift to me...

IDK, it's so hard to spin out from turning too much? It feels like the cars have too much grip and randomly looses grip

Quote from IGN :There are so many things done right in terms of design that this feels like the freshest take on the "simulation" racing genre in many, many years. I put the word "simulation" in quotes because while Need for Speed Shift is undoubtedly closer to that end of the racing spectrum than, say, Burnout, Slightly Mad made some very smart choices in deciding what would be realistic and what wouldn't. The result is that the team is essentially giving you a racing experience that is extremely close to the real thing in terms of presentation, while keeping the controls just arcadey enough to allow relative newcomers a much easier entryway into the game than the likes of Gran Turismo

Ummm...no thanks...

Why they hell did they bill this game as a "simulation" if it's easier than Gran Turismo...

I'm looking back on previous results of Luizzi and Speed when they were in STR in 06 and 07. It's hilarious to see previous posts (not in this forum) of people screaming that both Speed and Luizzi were crap...

Now that Luizzi's being impressive...I do wonder what that says about Speed Considering that Speed basically had the upper hand at STR in 07 and they were very equal in 06.

I also looked at Bourdais' record. Where the hell did people get the idea that Bourdais was crap in F1? He out performed Buemi in 09. Sure, Buemi's a rookie...but still. I hear people saying that Bourdais was like Michael Andretti crap...wtf

Quote from dekojester :Okay, because I can't really be bothered to :P send out a PM with password now, I will just use the password that was used for Round 8, the Jamaica 200, since that was the last one I have a PM from.

Let me know if you need it, it won't be set till just before qualifying.

I got a PM already from Falkes with the pw? I want there for the Jamaica 200 so I will need the pass if Falkes pass isn't the right one

Quote from JJ72 :sorry but in both case it is pretty easy to pick out the one in yellow as well?

I don't think it applies to the case though, in racing you need talent to stand out, and talent isn't something everybody have (unlike a yellow shirt!). To able to stand out from a competition of 1000 people, is definitely harder than to stand out from a competition with only 3.

I agree.

Madcat, that is purely based on physical descriptions. Talent is an abstract concept and therefore is a completely different playing field (in terms of identifying) compared to physical attributes.

Quote from MadCat360 :In a room of 3, with 2 wearing gray and 1 wearing yellow, yellow is 1 in 3.

In a room of 1,000, with 999 wearing gray and 1 wearing yellow, yellow is 1 in 1,000.

Let me put it this way.

1. Compare Danica Patrick among Giovanna Amati and Milka Duno.

2. Compare Danica Patrick among everyone in IRL, GP2, Formula 1, and Formula 2.

In option 1 she seems like a racing goddess. In option 2 she doesn't seem that special anymore.

Quote from deggis :Really?

It's a rumor and it's confirmed that NASCAR's "THINKING" about it. They've said that there will not be any timeline or deadline to implementing it. But they are seriously considering it as Honda and Volkswagen are interested in joining the NASCAR constructors if fuel injectors are introduced

All jokin aside, I wonder why NASCAR needs to enforce a "single" template body for each manufacture? Just because it's stock car doesnt mean each car has to be exactly the same.

Look at Turismo Carretera. Pretty awesome series imho:

Quote from PMD9409 :For years the cars looked like the street vehicles it represented. Teams that were in certain manufacturers found that one manufacturer was stronger at some tracks, while maybe another manufacturer was stronger at another. NASCAR wanted to keep them as equal as possible when the COT was released, while showing a small hint (almost nothing) of difference between the manufacturers.

/goes back to 1988.

Man....back then you can really see the difference between a Buick, a Chevy, a Ford, an Oldsmobile, and a Pontiac!!

Quote from Test Driver :My suggestion is to dispose of the sprint races. Or do they exist in RL Indycar? I don't know but I think LFSCART should be more like the CART series which had no sprint races AFAIK. As a compensation you could increase the overall race distance

IRL doesnt have sprint races.

If you want to make things more interesting I probably would suggest you have LFSCART be a tweak that comes to as close to the IRL cars as possible. Perhaps bug Bob about it or something

But if you do not want to go that route (for fear of compatibility or interest) then there's not much I would suggest you can improve on it. But...

1. I personally dont like the Sprint race idea.
2. Add one more oval to the schedule, and I dont mean Kyoto. I mean add a short track oval racing. IRL/CART has (had) some intense short oval racing and that's missing in LFSCART. For the oval portion, just keep it as:

SpeedWeeks, Kyoto 500, Clockwise 300, Martinsville. No more but imho no less. The Circuits is really up in the air as long as they are long enough. I would suggest atleast FE3, SO5, SO6
