Could you explain a little of what Trans-Am is now (the 2009 season). AFAIK, the series reboot with only the GT1 class and the GTA class isn't there anymore.
You say the GT1 cars in Trans-Am currently are only "stock cars" with GT bodies?
It does seem that Grand-Am is doing better in the sportscar petigree with it's KONI and Rolex. But why do you feel that the stock car class didn't belong there (except for the fact that they were obviously amateurs)
The racing seemed to be pretty cool (although I only watched 3 trans am races that had the stock car class)
Just curious on thoughts of anyone who watched it. It was very interesting to see GT racing with a stock car class (The GTA class are essentially ASA stock cars). I wonder if anyone has been following the Trans-Am if they might bring the GTA stock car class back or if the stock cars were too much trouble for the GTs.
I live in the United States thank you very much...(pretty obvious with my NASCAR/IndyCar posts tbh)
It started in closed wheel racing (specifically SCCA Touring Trucks here in the states) and became a legitimate tactic for almost all closed wheel racing on tarmac. Watch NASCAR, ARCA, Stock Car Brasil, BTCC, SCCA, and you'll see bumpdrafting. Heck I even remember seeing it in FIA GT and WTCC.
So is the entire closed wheel motorsports world cheaters?
I watch NASCAR for the close fights and finishes and that is perhaps one of the few reasons why I watch NASCAR over F1. I want clean good competition. Not some gray area demolition derby racing... which is unfortunately the image that NASCAR has (warranted or unwarranted).
I dont mind contact. But I do mind malicious contact which is what Robbie Gordon is know for and it seems also what quite a few NASCAR fans root for...
Perhaps when he's bashing NASCAR's questionable calls on conditions...
But it's very different when it comes to his conduct and incidents on track. Remember when he threw a piece of debris on a track to force a caution? That was pure LOL!!!! He was even caught on red handed on camera doing it...
and not to mention is multiple take outs...spinning P.J. Jones, overly blocking Boris Said, brake checking Michael Waltrip, smashing Travis Kvapil, blatantly spinning out Marcos Ambrose, his laughable track conduct with David Stremme (although Stremme was also at fault for this as well) and more recently taking out Joey Logano during a caution...I'm sure there's many more but these are all i can remember of the top of my head
bumpdrafting is allowed and used in real life closed wheel series (NASCAR, ARCA, BTCC, WTCC, etc). That's as serious as you can possibly get with any racing series.
Then you are seriously behind the 8-ball.
iTCC...is only one of the most pretigious closed wheel touring car series to land in LFS. I am surprised you didn't hear of it...they have loads of videos, discussions and praises from alien drivers.
AFAIK, goodyear didn't develop rain tires to use on the CoT cup cars atm. Only rain tires are available for nationwide on road courses. However, I will agree with you that they definitely should start to give the cup cars rain tires/wipers/rear lights as they do in nationwide in Montreal.
Sure it may only be once a year...but Nationwide goes to Montreal once a year as well and that's really the only place they need it.
NASCAR's rained out oval races are annoying but unfortunately unavoidable. NASCAR road course rained out races are definitely avoidable imho..and to not do anything about it would be stupid of NASCAR
It's allowed in iTCC (really nuff said), and it is also allowed in closed wheel oval leagues as well. There's probably some other TBO leagues where bumpdrafting is allowed but i cant think of any atm
Whether the words are the result of a higher level of thinking or just merely a happy accident doesn't really matter.
Fact is, it is a very astute observation from you dustin. Whether that's characteristic of you or not doesn't really affect the validity of that particular statement.
Of course, anyone who believes that brake checking is ok while bumpdrafting is not shouldn't really be regarded as having a sound standard of racing.
There...dustin has made it absolutely clear. Get that through your thick head.
Why is it cheating? What's so different between drafting and bumpdrafting? Both are a cooperative relationship that does not involve gaining an advantage at someone else's expense (which IS intentional wrecking)
Intentional wrecking is cheating, and brake checking (which apparently you are fine with) IS cheating.
...I live in the United States. Can you even refute my argument without being racist? If not, then I rest my case.
Curious, is there a way to removed the 10 minutes video limitation on your account?
I know before all you needed to do was just make your account a "director" account but that doesnt work anymore.
Someone has told me that you'd have to contact youtube directly to get them to approve your account.
Does anyone know a sure way to get that 10 minute limitation removed from your account? Is it even possible anymore? If you are to contact youtube how would i contact them?
