You really should have stopped right there then, why didn't you?
There's a thread that you should read: http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=2626
"This thread is meant to work as a log of keeping list of all improvement suggestion made for LFS on this forum as well as on some other forums. The log is supposed to include only the ideas that have not yet been implemented to LFS or ideas how to enhance the current state of a peculiar feature. It's a good thing to browse through this before making new suggestions."
well, D1 only ALLOWS ff, but the community still thinks that FF sucks and btw, i did not pull this out of my own ass... i actually stood for the fact that ff's and awd "drifted" but the thing is i failed, and i was fighting pretty hard, ask around on some drifting forums and stop arguing with me, i am trying to tell you what the majority believes in.
Nobody is saying that FF is easy or even comparable to RWD when it comes to drifting. While I think that FF can drift, I think it sucks for drifting.
You've been saying FF can't drift because a bunch of people on internet forums said so? You should know better than to believe what the "masses" of the internet think.
...
why is noone listening to me and trying to find holes around my words!?!?!?!?!
you can't change the SLIPAGE of the rear wheels with the THROTTLE of an FF. or do i have to reword my definition again?!?!?!?!?
edit:
:google:
We are listening to you, but you're still wrong. Usually, when talking about factual things, if you find yourself asking "Why does everyone else think I'm crazy? (or wrong, different, etc.)" then it's probably not a problem with everyone else, it's a problem with you.
I'll give you that point about FD, however. FD's website sucks hard and I couldn't find anything about it. More reason why I dislike it.
what? i have had experiences in these following drive types:
MR
RR
FR
FF
F4
what is so ignorant of me?
i can do it, and if it's not pure RWD, i call it a rally slide. period. i have had experiences defending AWD and FF drifting, but that is not a true drift, you can try to reason, as i have done, but you are going to get nowhere, since the TERM "drifting" refers to a slide of an FR
btw, is your insult of me being a kid a personal attack? how old are u anyways? it doesn't really matter how old i am...
You say that "drifting" refers to FR only, but that's just what you think. Can you show me a rulebook or a statement made by someone who's qualified to make decisions such as this?
I gave you one that shows, if anything can be pulled from reading a rulebook, that FF can drift.
I'm only a couple years older than you so I can't call you a "kid" based on age, only actions. That said, when I said that I was referring to the general community of LFS drift-tastic idiots who are generally too young to drive but talk a LOT of smack because they spend 1823213 hours drifting in LFS.
*sigh* you CAN'T change the SLIP ANGLE on the rear wheels of an FF with your throttle.
If you have enough grip on the front wheels, yes you can.
Be less like nearly every LFS drifter that I meet by being more open-minded, it's less frustrating and doesn't make you look like a dumb kid who doesn't drift IRL.
It's worth mentioning that I don't think that FWD is any good at drifting, mainly because it's so difficult to accelerate while oversteering.
^edit: IT IS GRIPPING THE ROAD AND FOLLOWING THE RACE LINE WITH YOUR FRONT WHEELS, WHILE YOU ARE SLIDING WITH THE REAR WHEELS, WHILE HAVING THE ABILITY TO CONTROL THE [REAR WHEEL'S] SLIP ANGLE WITH YOUR THROTTLE.
I don't see why you can't do that in a fwd car. It's more difficult and complex, which is why very few people do it, but it is possible.
You have to contort your definition so much to try to make it work. Doesn't really make me feel confident that you know what you're talking about.
what?!?! how was i not clear? do i have to highlight everything for you?!
IT IS GRIPPING THE ROAD AND FOLLOWING THE RACE LINE WITH YOUR FRONT WHEELS, WHILE YOU ARE SLIDING WITH THE REAR WHEELS, WHILE HAVING THE ABILITY TO CONTROL THE SLIP ANGLE WITH YOUR THROTTLE.
Last I checked, you can control slip angle with the throttle of a FWD car It reduces the angle but you're still controlling it (works with your words)
If you're going to say that drifting is an "official sport," I would like to remind you what I said about competitions allowing FWD cars.
http://www.d1gp.com/index.php? ... w&id=45&Itemid=62
Participating Vehicles:
1.) Only FR, RR, FF and MR drive-trains (two wheel drive cars) are allowed.
- AWD to RWD conversions are permitted.
- FWD to RWD conversions are permitted
just to make this clear, i am not making this argument because i have an FR, but i have an AWD, i call it rally slides, not drift; drift is an exclusive term describing a power slide done by RWD's, in which case, the front wheels grip and the rear wheels are loose, and the car is controlled by the throttle. i have asked about this on drift forums, trying to justify FF and AWD drifts, but no, they can do slides, but not like the RWD cars.
You need to clarify your definition of drifting. To me, it's maximizing slip angle and speed while trying to stick to a certain line through a course.
It would seem that you're talking about powersliding, which is part of the driving technique for RWD racing, not just drifting.
edit:
yes it does stem back a long time, it's just that drifting is now COINED an official term, it's just back then, powerslides, drifts, skids are all synonymous to each other, and it doesn't make a difference, now, drifting is an official sport, "drift" is now different from it's peers
If you're going to say that drifting is an "official sport," I would like to remind you what I said about competitions allowing FWD cars.

FWIW: The only drifting competition regulations that I can find online allow FWD cars and do not specify the need for the car to be RWD. The only requirement is that no car can be AWD.
I think it's worth mentioning that the majority of people who say "z0mg drifitng is for rwd only!!!111oneoneone" have little-no experience with cars, let alone drifting.
Enthusia is the best sim and will continue to be the best unless the new GT game is better, which I doubt.
Other console games feel more "real" because they feel much more like normal, everyday driving which is the limit of most people's understanding of driving.
I don't have a problem with the term itself, just the people who use it. When used by most drifters, it shows a lack of knowledge of the speaker about how to drive RWD cars.
I'm pretty good at driving RWD cars but I often find myself sliding quite a bit when I get on the gas. Initial D fanboys and similar idiots online would say "z0Mg raCE DRIFTING, y0!"
Going slightly off topic:
Initial D is a good show but the fans are incredibly stupid. Ever been to an Initial D forum? It's just a bunch of 10 year olds trying to prove to the internet that they know some stupid, obscure fact about their favorite car in Initial D.
Similarly, I enjoy drifitng and watching drifting but find that most drifters on LFS are idiots. Does anybody know why this is?
whats wrong with that? sure it unrealistic, but its not hurting anyone, and its not an unfair hotlap like those "16 seconds faster than previous tweaked" hotlaps.
You really should've stopped right there (bold text)
I was on blackwood in the FXR and after getting the G25 for xmas, thought i'd do some laps, done 50 and wanted to ask whether 1:09:00 was a good lap time as it was my fastest.
TcD~Demonizer
How fast were you burning up your tires?
If you aren't killing your tires, that's a good pace for medium/long distance races but you'll want to push a bit harder for the sprint races (~10 laps) that most GTR servers run.
If you are absolutely destroying your tires, however... don't quit your day job
So this deterrent was added to LFS, even though it's not realistic? What happened to the goal of realism in LFS?
The idea is to punish those who were abusing an even more unrealistic feature of LFS.
The clutch damage isn't perfect but it shouldn't be a problem if you know how to drive. I don't have problems despite not having a clutch pedal (autoclutch is used for downshifts).
I actually own a DFP, however i don't have the space/desk in my house at the moment to be able to setup the computer that way. And i disagree, you do really need a clutch pedal now, button clutch is a bit, weird
I've been using autoclutch with no problems since I got LFS.
I don't know what these people are complaining about, but from my standpoint, these cars do NOT have factory clutches! A factory clutch would cook even quicker under less abuse!
Case in point
I took the FXO with the RACE_S sertup to the drag strip, did a gear 2 FULL RPM launch (with boost), powershifted (that's where you don't lift off the gas while shifting) every gear, and at the end I had only a sliver of heat. HOW?!?!
Factory clutches are area rugs cut in a circle and glued to a metal plate! They don't like low RPM gear 2 launches, let alone a full RPM with boost launch out of a 240 horsepower engine, and then subsequent powershifts!
You should note that most, if not all, of the people who are complaining aren't old enough to drive yet.
but im sorry to say that i am now leaving the LFS community. In my opinion the XR gt was one of the best demo cars ever, capable of racing to drifting to anything you wanted it to do. Now my XR GT has dissapeared and along with it, over 50 of my setups that ive put countless hours into to get them perfected. Thank you for wasting a year of my time perfecting my favorite car and even going so far as to making hundreds of my own demo skins which are now USELESS.
goodbye to my 12.39 second drag car...
goodbye to my 1:25 drift car...
goodbye to my nsx that i manage to get to hit 145mph with
goodbye to wheelies and flips
goodbye to my 25+ engine sounds
goodbye to over 125 custom XRGT skins
goodbye to over 50 custom made setups
goodbye to all the nice people ive met
Kudos to [Shikane Drifters], DragMania, Team 360, T5, Silly Project, and also to the Ghost Drag Team.
You guys have all helped make my time on this game a bit better and i thank you for it.
Ok now we get to insulting people who prefer a different style of driving. >.> What's wrong with liking to drift? Yeah ok some of the drifters may have been harsh and maybe insulted people too, but just because I don't like Patch Y doesn't mean I'd want to go buy NFS instead of GT5..
I think it's more of a sense of hate towards LFS drifters. I believe that the vast majority of them should be banned from the internet and public roads because they suck at driving.
That said, I'm a drifting fan and I know that real drifters are smart and actually know how to drive.
