A home-grown classic from LFS layoutter Lucaf (9397), Industrial Erebus proved to be an excellent track which brought us some classic LRL battles from start to end, with no lack of action!

Qualifying

Defending champion Pete from TC Racing took time out of his schedule to partake in this race, and even though he had been out for nearly a year, he showed none of his skill had left him, putting his XRG in 3rd just ahead of SIDUS's Gabor. Trespasser set the pace early on as we were expecting, however, Michal slowly paced himself and soon traded positions with the TRR driver, with both drivers neck and neck in time, with Trespasser just grabbing the pole by the smallest of margins. The Race Green duo of Redbot and Mandula remained inseparable in 5th and 6th ahead of World Class Lion's T.Soini. LCS-R Onur qualified in 11th ahead of Elmo, with PitlaneRacer bringing up the rear.

Race

With two XFG's in front of him, Pete was looking to get a jump onto at least the rear of Trespasser - however, it was evident that the launch of the top 2 were perfect, and the field headed past Turn 1 as they were, with Pete having to duck back behind Michal. Further back, Onur had made a bad jump, and was swamped by the field as they headed into the lap, with the only challenge coming from Michal, who briefly drew alongside Trespasser.

The end of the first lap saw JJD come through the pits for an extremely early stop, with the intentions to leapfrog his rivals, however, a slow out lap, contact with the walls and slow pace saw his intentions nullified.
Meanwhile, Pickard had begun to pick his way past drivers, going clean around the outside of Soini to elevate himself up into 6th, and to set off to chase the Race Green cars ahead. The other Race Green car of Maciek also found an invoice past Soini, with a clean pass entering Sector 3.

At the front, Trespasser set the blistering pace he had showed during practice and qualifying, edging away from 2nd placed Michal as Pete and Gabor set after the MRc driver.

The midfield battle was between Gabor, Mandula and the charging Pickard, all 3 were close together and Gabor swapped positions with Mandula as the pair fought up front.

As the drivers settled into a rhythm, it looked as if it would be a great tussle for the podium, until JJD brought out a Safety Car after flipping off track coming under the final sector bridge. With most drivers past the pit lane entry, no one gained much, with all the drivers peeling right into the pits for their "cheat" stop. To the shock of most, Pete had forgotten to set "damage off", which resulted in a long stop, and would eventually bring us one hell of a battle to the flag!

The restart saw an even getaway by all the drivers, with Pete missing the jump slightly and falling ever so slightly back into the clutches of Maciek behind. The TC-R driver soon set his sights purely on the cars in front, and muscled his way past Mandula and set after pressuring Gabor and Pickard for 4th. The battles kept going, with Pickard and Gabor tussling and the latter blasting past after a run in with the wall by Pickard saw him drop back.

The final lap saw PitlaneRacer turn turtle at Turn 1, however, no Safety Car was called as the field was already half-past. This allowed us a full battle, both for Pickard and Pete, and Mandula with Maciek. It was a close battle from Pete who had now put his car up into 5th after his earlier pit stop debacle - and was now right on the rear of Pickard, who was overheating his rear tires. However, there was no way past and both held station to the flag. Maciek was also stuck behind his team mate, with the passing opportunities exhausted.

At the front however, it was a dominating performance from our current championship leader Trespasser, who extends his advantage over Michal!

Pending video...

One of the favourite circuits and also an historical one makes a return to the LRL calendar for Season 2020 - and it delivered as usual with excellent racing!

Qualifying

Heading into qualifying, it was evident that run-away championship leader Trespasser would be absent from the round - thus, fan favourite Michal from team MRC was expected to make the most of a grid position. However, it was Born2Race's Ayoub who took the challenge, setting the pace right from the start of the session ahead of team mate Twincam. Michal soon found more pace and pole was set to be a straight out dog fight between the two, until Pickard set a fastest lap mid-way through the session - he would miss out on the pole after Ayoub beat him by the finest of margins. Further back, JJD, Race Green's Maciek and TRR's Salminen fought for the spot on the top 5, with the gaps being ultra tight; a good sign for the race!

Race

With a track position key around the track, the drivers were weary for the start - the race kicked off with Ayoub getting jumped by Michal and Pickard off the line, with Michal challenging and getting past to the lead, whilst Pickard ran wide and dropped down the field. JJD got up to 3rd in the chaos, and TC-R's Elmo, after a brilliant start, found himself on the gearbox of Pickard in 6th. Further back, Air Attack's Berdy found himself in a fight with Maciek, going into the tunnel side by side, whilst LFS Team Hungary's Lacko picked off positions after starting last. M.Linde and Salminen got together down into the Sector 2 left hander, dropping back but recovering well.

Ayoub getting past Michal for the lead

Ayoub managed to get past Michal for the lead shortly after and set off to make a gap, whilst the drivers behind were caught in a log jam behind JJD in 3rd; with M.Linde getting past into Turn 1 and bringing a few drivers with him. Meanwhile, Lacko, who was already up to 10th by the 2nd lap, dueled with Zeinberg77, and both misjudged the braking into the Sector 2 left hander, with Lacko coming off worst. Meanwhile, the momentum loss for Zeinberg saw Jereloco and LCS-R's Onur slip past.

As the race stabilised, Pickard, who was now up to 3rd, slowly clawed onto the back of Michal, who had now dropped off the pace of Ayoub. Maciek was now chasing Elmo for 5th, and Twincam and Salminen were locked in a battle for 9th. That was until Twincam made an uncharacteristic error into the penultimate corner down in the tunnel in the same spot as Michal in Season 2019, crashing out and bringing out the Safety Car! This saw the pit-stop sequence filter out, with most of the drivers down from 7th making the split decision to take the cheat stop, with the leaders hussling around the lap to lose little time as possible during their own stop.

To Twincam's luck, he managed to get himself free and continued on, pitting due to damage and dropping one lap down.

The restart saw Ayoub mistime his launch, catching up to the Safety Car too quickly, resulting in Michal getting a storming run down into turn 1, bringing Pickard with him, with the pair tussling it down into turn 2, piling on the pressure until Michal ran wide coming out of the tunnel, losing his lead and giving the positions right back, with Pickard slipping into the lead and covering off Ayoub. Lacko slid past Maciek for 9th in the recovery drive, whilst Elmo had gotten past JJD and up into 4th, only to make a mistake to let him past again.

As the race drew to an end, Elmo capitalised on an error from Salminen to get into 5th, only to succumb to the pressure and spin out exiting the tunnel, letting Linde and Lacko past - only for the latter to outbrake himself, dropping behind the TC-R driver, and setting a battle to the flag, of which the LFS Team Hungary driver would win. Further back, Zeinberg, who had driven a messy race thus far, held off Soini for the better part of the race, whilst Jereloco and Maciek fought for 8th, with the pair swapping paint to the end.

At the front however, it was Pickard who came out on top to claim his first victory in Season 2 of LRL, a well fought victory with the likes of Ayoub and Michal. Behind the top 3, JJD finished in a worthy 4th ahead of Salminen and M.Linde, both of which performed excellent on their debuts. Lacko fought up to 7th from dead last, and Elmo finished in 10th.

Quote from MicroSpecV :Here's a hot lap showcasing the capability of the set - notice how...[snip]

Was looking for an explanation of how the set works, and I've found the most ideal video to explain how to drive it..

Basically he explains everything - it needs a predictive steering style, huge lock, good rear compliance (which the set has) and a new driving style. None of the rear skidding power sliding technique.
And it's true, for GT2c at Aston I nearly made a no-stopper work, until from a spin caused a puncture.

Might not be everyone's cup of tea, but let's see what the new tire physics update brings. Hopefully it reduces the 4 wheel drift/mario kart style the current handling model promotes...

Quote from TermiCompeticion :"The username is banned"

I had an account (bymotta) and one day turned on the pc, opened lfs and said on all servers "unauthorized connection"
I created another account because I thought it was a problem from the previous account, and now it says "this name is banned" and the account is new, any solution?

Well, going by the fact that "bymotta" has 0km travelled, either you were caught hacking or you were seen using/talking about a cracked version of LFS somewhere in the community. Might be wrong, but I can't find any other reason unless your IP is linked to a previous address that DDoS'ed the LFS master servers, or someone clicked the wrong username to ban.

In any case, email the devs at https://www.lfs.net/mailus if you feel your ban was unjustified and you had done nothing wrong.
