I really don't get all the fuss about this. Ferrari used team orders.. so what? The are multiple instances of team orders every season. Hell, there have already been at least two instances of top teams using team orders this season, but nobody kicked up a fuss about those. Why the furore this time? Because it's Ferrari and Alonso?
Webber looked pretty ticked off in the press conference. I don't blame him.. Vettel's new front wing breaks, so they take Webber's off him to give to Vettel? Hmmm..
I think (or I'm hoping) it'll get a lot better in the next round of games. Nobody wants to lose their first match, which is why they've all been so cagey.
Goalkeeping blunders aside, we've seen England's major problem: with Rio out (he was playing crap and getting slow anyway so no loss) and King's dodgy knees, the centre backs are too damn slow. So many times the USA got behind them, putting Terry/Carragher in positions where they have to make desperate challenges. Against decent strikers, they're screwed.
Yeah I've done a fair few laps at Rowrah too. It's kinda odd how you don't realise how lovely an area it is til you see it on TV - I guess so many years living here desensitises it a bit. Weird, very surreal.
Uhm, Button did exactly what Webber did. Actually, no, that's not right. Button did MORE than what Webber did - he actually actively pushed Hamilton across the track on the start/finish straight, whereas Webber simply held his line.
How do you know he wouldn't have if Vettel hadn't wrecked him? He never had the chance to move back over to the right for the braking zone, Vettel had crashed into him well before the point that he'd move back onto the racing line.
Huh? He didn't try to force Vettel off the road. Webber didn't move at all, he kept completely straight, until Vettel tried to force HIM out of the way.
I don't think Webber really 'squeezed' Vettel, though. I mean it wasn't as if Webber pushed him across the track - Vettel was already up against the left side of the track, he put himself there. Webber just held him there.
I'm sure Webber WOULD have gone back the racing line to brake had Vettel not crashed into him. This incident happened well before the braking zone.. there was no reason for Webber to move at that point.
Did anyone watch the BBC's post race forum? Very interesting going-ons there. Basically they discovered that in the three laps prior to the Webber/Vettel crash, Red Bull told Webber to turn his engine down, while they told Vettel to turn his up.
Suggesting more going on by Webber's responses in the press conference:
Q. Is there any reason why he had a jump on you on that particular lap? MW: Hmm. Maybe.
Q. Did you come out of the previous corner a bit slower on that lap? MW: Hmm. You guys need to dig more, somewhere else.
Also quite disappointing to see that Horner seems to be taking Vettel's side in this whole thing and blaming Webber. And Vettel's hand gestures after the incident were just embarrasing.
