Well back in S1 I tried using the mouse just for steering and found it very hard, so I used a gamepad for the longest time. But it stopped working with S2 so I went back the mouse. And I remembered I played a dirtbike game for many years that used the mouse to control steering, throttle, and braking. So I set LFS like that and it was like second nature. I was very suprised how easy it was for me to get used to and I've gotten tons faster....been working on reaching all the FXO benchmark times, able to get most of them and like .5 from a WR is my best. If you go over to lfsworld you should be able to find some of my hotlaps since you're wanting to watch. It's nothin special really lol
I just noticed my hotlaps are saying I'm using a wheel, however I don't own a wheel and use the mouse for LFS. Unfortunately this seems to be an unsolveable problem, but just wanted to get this out there. The way I have the mouse setup is to use the x-axis for steering and y-axis for throttle/brake. This type of setup only works with the "wheel" option chosen as the controller instead of the "mouse" option. The "mouse" option forces you to assign the throttle and brake to buttons, which isn't good if you want to be fast. Choosing the "mouse" option automatically assigns the steering to the x-axis but gives no option of the y-axis.
Not really a huge concern, just kinda sucks I can't filter the hotlaps to mouse drivers and compare to them instead of comparing to all the wheel drivers.
Digital brakes/throttle? I use the mouse for steering, braking, and throttling. Steering on the x-axis, brake/throttle on the y-axis. Mouse drivers can have analog too :-)
Yeah sorry if its old...a friend of mine posted it at another forum I visit and it was the first time I saw it. Thought it'd be a good post here for the drifters hehe
They're not posting here because they're busy working on updates, maybe? What's all the worrying about? The devs aren't just going to suddently give up the game and leave. Just because there's no post from them doesn't mean they're not doing any work, quite the opposite I would think.
Actually you'ved travelled l337 Miles, your burnt fuel is at 877.xx. But I catch the drift of what you're saying though :-)
I just noticed something else weird. I have 4000+ more miles than you, but burnt nearly 600 less liters than you. How can that be?
Thats like 19miles per liter for me, 1.5miles per liter for you. hmmmm
Actually we payed for the alpha version. We knew that we were paying for the alpha version so we could play S2 in its current stage and wait for patches and the full release. Would you rather the devs not even release this alpha stage? Then we'd all still be playing S1 and surely you don't want that compared to what we have now.
I was having the same problem with my gamepad so I've actually been using the mouse for the past few weeks. With the gamepad, I'd calibrate the axis, things would be centered, then the slightest movement of the analog stick and it would all go out of wack. It was either not play anymore or use the mouse...hmmm tough choice there :-D
Just multipy kph by .621 to get very close mph estimate. Use calculator, cellphone calculator, or do it in your head for the simple ones(100kph~62.1mph)
This could also be done by making a function in visual basic like
function kphconvert(n)
kphconvert=(n*1000)/(.3048*5280)
end function
then type =kphconvert(n) into a cell in excel, with n being the number in kph. =kphconvert(100) would show 62.13711922
A quick run-down I just did with that vb function:
Hmm, what happened to the whole "LFS should be treated like real life racing" type of theme around here? Come on now, can you alter race tracks in real life just because you don't like a corner? ;-)
I have it working, but I thought it would do more "analyzing" than what it does. I might be missing something I dunno. Does it just show you the path driven during the race? I was hoping it'd give some breaking-point tips, better line tips, ect.
I know some people take great pride in tweaking their setups to near perfection, but for the most part I don't see what the big deal is of taking a setup from a WR time. Just because you have a great setup doesn't mean you're automatically fast. You still need plenty of practice with LFS to be fast, a good setup is just a bonus and maybe makes the practicing a little less frustrating :-D
Most of the time I would imagine that happening but like stated before there's the possibility of drafting if you can stay close enough. This long stretch would add a new strategy to drag racing. The strip we have now it's all about getting off the line the quickest, and it's so short that a car with a higher top speed isn't necessarily going to have enough time to catch up. With this long stretch of road you would have to find a good balance between getting off the line quick but making sure your gear ratios dont have you topping out too quickly.
It's happened to me before, just them running out of gas. I at first was also really confused, thought maybe something seriously wrong was happening to my computer....then a few laps later I also ran out of gas and realized what was goin on :-D oooops
I don't know all the legal issues surrounding something like this. The users paid for the license to play the game, aren't they allowed to play it however they want?(unfortunately that means some wanting to be wreckers). Taking away their priviledge to play after they have paid doesn't seem legal but again thats just a guess. Maybe since this is a privately developed game the devs can do to the users as they wish. Personally I wouldnt mind seeing licenses revoked for these wreckers, was just curious about these issues.
Make sure you dont have a popup blocker enabled for one. A new window opens with the download button on it. Also I run a program called peerguardian, if I have it enabled then the movies don't download, but disabling it allows the downloads. So if you run any kind of program that blocks incoming connections, disable it for a moment.
