Quote from TFalke55 :Track editing and so on was requested that often. First of all LFS ist actually designed to have no editing. That makes it better for competitions and we actually don't want to have these rFactor problems e.g. loaded the wrong version of the Track a.s.o.

Oh god... You have completely missed the point - the tracks are constructed via a system and the only data you need to get is the configuration data (tile number 1 is at square A1 with elevation 2 with radius 30, tile number 7 is at square A2 with elevation 3 with radius 0, etc) - there is no wrong version!!!!!!! This is not full scale track building. IT's a track editor and the track parts are predefined for pete's sake - what kind of wrong version can you have!?

Quote from TFalke55 :
the next thing is that LFS is not a full release. It's just 0,5 and before getting editor modes and so on it would be more useful to get some other modifications. Modding / Editig will be one of the last things included to LFS.

Like what?? Who cares about the god damn GTR interiors when you can have a track editor...

Don't preach me about the LFS ideology. I was a follower two and a half years before you got on board

Quote from TFalke55 :
Btw... as far as i 've seen the movie, it seemes that every track looks the same. This is boring. First I thought it is like trackmania, but then i saw: It is worse.

It doesn't have to be exactly the same!! This rFactor project has also just started. If at the right hands it has great potential.

God... you people really don't have any imagination...

Quote from Shotglass :dont you think it would be slightly boring to drive the exact same corner 10 times in a row each lap ?

People have no imagination... I'm sure Scawen could think of a way to make the corner angle/radius/whatever it is called variable...

This has probably been suggested before, but as rFactor is getting one, I think it is high time for LFS to get one also. Sure, the layout thing is nice, but take a look at this:

Quote from Scawen :S3 price isn't set yet.

Danowat's guess is the best guess available but we don't know for sure how the pricing will work.

Most likely, S2 users will pay the S3 price minus £24 because they already paid that for their S2 license.

Yeah, why do you guys (danowat et al) think that things will cost the same every year? There is a little thing called inflation and wage increases Few things today cost the same as they did two or three years ago. In my country inflation is at ~5% per annum that is roughly 10% over two years. Granted, it is lower in other EU countries, but wage increases must also be considered. As workforce is a major factor in LFS costs I'd say that wage increases should actually be used to get a fair price. It might even be that Scavier thinks that their work was under priced and a more appropriate sum should be charged. Whatever happens, an upper limit to make it not so costly for new purchases must also not be forgotten. I'm betting the cost structure after S3 becomes available as Alpha will be smth similar:

S1 - not available
S2 - £18
S3 - £36

S2->S3 = £18

Quote from Becky Rose :This is another point, currently the physics arent as great as we've historically claimed and there is a reason for this. The tyres have improved massively but are still not perfect, they slide too much. Meanwhile aerodynamics have not been touched and this is now really noticeable because there is so little aerodynamic effect on the cars by comparison to the mechanical grip. ie: Under patch Q you felt the loss of front downforce when you followed another downforce car, now you barely notice it, this is because you are getting so much grip from your tyres and not enough from your aerodynamics.

I remember reading that the effect from following another car through corners was changed by Scawen to make it more real - you lose less downforce. I think that was after patch Q.

Quote from Gentlefoot :At the last round of the GFC we were down to only 20 runners on the grid - although everyone seemed to enjoy the race. So we are looking for new guys and the next round should be very exciting - South City Long Reverse.

Sign up at http://gentlefoot.com/LFS/forum/

If you were planning to wait until season 2 to enter I strongly recommend you get some experience now. This format is very different from single formula racing.

Hope to see some new signees.

If you are looking for new blood, you could also introduce yourself. What is GFC?? Why would I join?

Tyre hoping
PLAYLIFE

Anyone who saw the NASCAR race at Watkins Glen this weekend saw Tony Stewart spin out from first place. This happened due to his tyres starting to hope whilst braking for the corner.

I've seen this in races in Estonia where cars in the middle of a slow corner have tyres hoping.

This is an advanced tyre model feature, but at the end of the day I hope it will be included

Remember, you saw it here first

Quote from obsolum :I think this will be more like 1,500pts. I've got 701 and am only 40% underway so... 300 pts for Bronze is correct, can't judge about the others as I haven't reached those yet

Dude, basic maths:

700-300=400

if 400 = 40%, then 1000 = 100%,

Then:

300+1000=1300 for next licence

Quote from Becky Rose :You can still raise a report and file it into your personal archive whilst in game. The only thing we've removed is the ability to submit the report whilst on the server, for that you have to go to your MyCTRA page. We did this to stop 'snap' reporting.

At the moment it's not very clear that the report isn't submitted, it's a temporary solution. We'll make it clearer in game soon.

I understand I can't submit now?

I can clearly see how many points I get for winning a race and I can clearly see how many percent my licence progress is. But I can't compare those!!!!!!!!

Quote from shadow2kx :I Think it's quiet random. But, if you are on the server you can seen when the track is going to change, just type $track. It will display a lot of usefull thing (number of race before change, time before restarting if race is over, lap consumsion (depending of your car), race fuel needed, ...)

yes, thank you, I have noticed. But still...

Furthermore, it is very ambigous how many points I need to get to next level. There is the green bar, but come on... It's very unclear.

Guy, when you get badk from your vacation, can you make sector timing device like there was for Grand Prix Legends?

Basically it records your best split (it is kept on screen) and adds up all best splits to form your ideal laptime. That's one big thing I am missing from this game.

Phleease.

Your mod is great, btw, now that I got it working

Quote from flinty72 :PLAYLIFE, not sure what your doing but I will go through the install, how I do it anyway.

Installation Procedure:
1. Open LFSRelax.rar file.
2. Within the rar window open the release folder.
3. Extract or Drag the bin folder to a folder of your choice on your HDD. (I put it into my main LFS folder).
4. Rename the bin folder (the one you just extracted onto your PC) as LFSRelax.

Start Procedure:
1. Start LFS (as you normally do).
2. Once LFS is running, open a text/chat message box by hitting "T" on the keyboard.
3. Type "/insim 29999" in the chat box then hit "enter".
4. Start LFSRelax.exe in you LFSRelax folder.
5. If successful you will see a message within LFS indicating LFSRelax is connected.

I will post how to edit the config file & what each of the main parameters mean later, after I work out the best way to write it for everyone to understand.

Gai-Luron, If you would like to include this in your documentation then please feel free to do so.
It is great to see you trying to sort out the pit spotter accuracy issues & 2 patches in a night means you are trying to match Scawen

Thanks, I finally got it working thanks to you

Quote from Meanie :Hi!
I couldn't find (but i'm kinda slow so don't jump on me...) any kind of contact info on the CTRA website so i'm asking these questions here, hope it's alright.

I'm asking those concerning the Single Seater server(s):

1. How much time currently each race is set to last?
Is this time going to change soon? By a big margin?

2. Is it possible to release a list with all the tracks under rotation (is the order of that rotation random?) on the server? *

3. If the order isn't random... Would it be possible to display a list on the server (maybe a RSS feed) of the current track being raced and (in fact there's something akin to that already, right?) the list of the next tracks to come online with it's current ETA beside it?

"4". Maybe the number 3 question had a quite "too demanding" suggestion but... It's just that i've been talking with some of the drivers on the Single Seater server and the consensus i've seen is that the track changes way too rapidly (i gather that's it's about every hour and a half or something close to that).
That's pretty much the reason why i haven't raced on it yet.
With a list, i could join (or better yet, know when to join) only on the tracks that i know that i can participate without causing any kind of problem for the other racers.

---

Is there a chance, if it gets determined the majority of the users actually do want it (not cause *I* want it, heh), of the time between track change to be increased? Maybe some 4 hours betweens changes or so?

I "know" that at least on the old servers one of the main reasons of the popularity and the "fun factor" of the servers were it's plethora of tracks and track changes that made possible racing on a lot of "different" combos and... with people on them!!

But maybe since that now the servers are really popular and great stuff (always were hehe) wouldn't it be interesting to raise the time between those track changes?
I mean, so when one find a track that he likes he could (not my cup of tea but of many) even start to develop a set on the spot, practice on it and start to get competitive and all of that quite some time before the track changes yet again.

The "complaints" i've been hearing are that when the racing starts to get really competitive and fun (well, more fun), people starting to get a good pace etc, it's almost if not already at the time of the track change, which, well, it's unfortunate. All the good racing has to start from scratch.

It's a bloody great concept, which works really well, that of changing tracks. So we don't get the same old same old combo all the time...
But maybe, just maybe, we could make those combos last a little bit longer? It's not that anyone is in a hurry or anything like that, hehe.

That's it, i guess.
Keep in mind that i'm doing all those comments and suggestions on top of the knowledge of the "short time" between track changes that i got via IM with other LFS racers, which could have changed by now and then i've wrote a worthless post.

Well, i feel like typing today. So i hope i don't get too bad of a scolding if indeed i'm wrong on my "information" (which would be great!).

Thanks for your time, and servers.

* I kinda "need" that cause i would like to find/develop a set and then practice a little bit before going into racing online. I don't like to use the racing track during a race as my testing grounds.

ps: sorry about my poor english, if anything can't be understood please point it out to me and i"ll try to explain it better.

I'd like to also see the track rotation list. The track + layout and times. Then I could even look that OK, my fav layout starts at 5 o'clock, so I come in at 5 o'clock.

Quote from Gai-Luron :Hello,

For the new add-on, i need your help because now you are an expert of configuring LFSRelax.

You can make a HOWTO for the noob and contribute to this way in the happyness of LFS community. I include this HOWTO in distrib under your name and your PM.
But even if you do this, i think there will be always people who don't read this file and they will fill your email or pm because they don't want search a little before post. I think of answering the requests as often as possible, but I cannot spend my time holding the hand with all.

Now, i wait your contribute, "your add'on" to LFSRelax.

Bye

Gai-Luron

I wish someone would write basic manual or smth. I still haven't got Relax to work - I think I don't still know where or how to "install" it.
