i really like the 1 lap system the lx competition had, it was really good fun, i can imagine some really sweet hillclimb layouts with it and stunt layouts.

Quote from _--NZ--_[HUN] :When I tried a G25 few month ago I decided that somehow I will get a clutch pedal (I have DFP). I had no money so buying anything was out of question. I used my old gameport joystick's electronics and one potentiometer and built the pedal from Technic Lego . Lego can be surprisingly strong and the pedal I made works flawlessly in LFS.

Eventful round for me this one!

In practice here I found I was doing some pretty hot lap times, the best I managed was a 1:57:17 I did try for a 56 but I started to crash too much because that ufr starts to lift the inner rear wheel in some of those corners and sometimes roll over.

Bit of a rush around in real life today, as i sold my van, but just made it in time to qualify, but I didnt get much chance of a warm up so was off my pace at the start of qualifying, did a low 58 on my 2nd lap and 3rd I was flying but a yellow flag was out and I didnt see the car who I sadly connected with and rolled over so that lap was gone but I had somehow qualified in seventh place.

Race 1 got started and the battle commenced. I was immediately tight close to #33 M.Hoekstra straight away and would see him a lot during this race along with a fellow Halfords racing team mate #27 U.Mikk.

I clipped an apex and got it up on two wheels, but somehow managed to save it but lost two places, it was all looking a bit pear shaped but I didnt give up, latched onto a slipstream and caught back up and made a move in the chicane on lap 5 which was optimistic but worked out beautifully.

Sadly that great move was wasted when I made a slight error in the final hairpin, lost about 5 mph and conceded the place right back, doh. So I chipped away at #33 M.Hoekstra and stayed with him and on the final hairpin I hit a nice line and got a good exit, he tried to avoid my drafting and get me to lose my speed but I stuck to my line and edged over the line into Lucky 7th place by just 3 hundreths of a second!

I didnt even realise until people said it to me but I had just scored the pole position for race 2, really gave me hope of doing well in a race, even if I dropped to 4th it would have been my best result so far this league. Of course many faster guys werent here but let's ignore this for now.

So race 2 started with little me sitting out in pole shitting my pants, I started off a bit slow at first, unsteady and off pace until the tyres heated up but my rear window was full of a lot of this for the first lap or two.

At one point I was slow in a corner but in the way of #10 M.Pesonen and he gave me a little bump which actually gave me a bit of distance hehe. I settled a bit got a little bit quicker and got myself a bit of a lead, but most of all, a clear track in front of me.

At this point second and third were fighting for position so I knew I was safe, a little coming together behind me in the hairpin gave me the room I hoped for.

Some serious concentration was then needed to go the rest of the distance. I hit a barrier on one lap which didnt damage me badly but lost some time but I had plenty to work with. I wasnt putting in the fastest laps which was worrying, I could feel #5 J.Parker gaining on me but i'm not sure if he was or not, he certainly was breaking away from the main pack of cars a bit. I wouldnt have any of it! I got my head down started going faster and on the final lap did a high 57 which scored the fastest lap of the race and my first baby-r win. More like 5 minutes of fame teehee, thank you lucky 7s.

Race 3 I was simply grinning too much to drive, and rolled the car off a curb in the final hairpin, in an awkward position.

My first DNF of the season so no more 100% finish ratio doh, even so I was still really happy about the win, it means a lot to me.

Thanks every body for such clean, fast paced action, babyrs really shine at this track eh?

Quote from SamH :ROFL! We may be a few weeks away, yet.

I've discussed with all the CTRA admins that are around at the moment, about what cars and tracks we run and what we want to run. Right now, I think we're leaning towards re-separating the GT2/GTR server from the TBO server again. It's becoming clear that the people who like GT2/GTR don't necessarily like TBO, and when the changeover happens it tends to kill the server off. If someone who likes GT2/GTR is on the server when it changes over to TBO, they will disco if they don't wanna drive the TBO. Separating the servers should get a more consistent server population.

Also, we'd like to get another S2 entry level CTRA server up. Instead of the UF1000, we're considering running ZWR's UF Baby-R. It's a fab car, a lot of fun, and it's worth upgrading to S2 alone for

yeah the baby-rs definately!!!! great entry level car, and great fun for the fast guys.

first off, it is great news to see a patch coming, thank you for the xmas pressie!!!!!!

Quote from ajp71 :I very much doubt it's a sign of a sell out, so far two separate companies have come forward asking for cars to be developed, and BMW Motorsport has given permission, that's all we've seen no contact with BMW itself.

It has a shorter wheelbase and given the lack of power it'll have less downforce and, hopefully, realistic tire compounds (ie. a lot harder than R1s).

If you want a Caparo T1 run an FO8 with some added ballast an understeery set and road tires, I can't see it being used at all when there's the option of a real single seater. A small single seater, prototype or another smaller GT car would see a lot more action than any of your suggestions.

i have to agree here on that. i want to add that there is nothing wrong with the non real cars, it doesnt have to be a real car! sure its nice but many of us have been happily racing away for a long time in virtual cars. if a real car needs scawen to go test it then how did he create the other non real cars, did he own all of them or test drive something similar to put them in LFS? anyone knows what cars he had, scawen can I ask you what motors you have owned before? anyway, were those created without testing if so then i think i am quite happy for some other prototype GTR or rally car that is just created out of imaginary data, until some better data/testing comes along. i dont know i just find it strange there is some big gaps to fill but havent been yet. (maybe its being held back for s3 or a later release hehe)

Great racing again,

Well I wasnt fast here really in qualifying but I got a reasonable lap in the session. In the middle of the pack for the races yippee. A couple of days ago I had a flu jab and a pneumonia vaccine thing which knocked me for six so my practice has been short, I was feeling ok to race though, as if a little ache and pain will stand in the way of a baby-r round. pfft. I had a guy coming to view a motor and a friend round half hour before the race. Then my mate got a macdonalds which arrived on the grid of Race 1. Sigh. Good munchies, bad timing. So under a little stress I went into the races, armed with a quarterpounder.

As soon as the race started I had completely lost my focus, I couldnt do good laps, I got stuck on the outside and got passed a lot but every move I made on someone, was defended well and I had to back out or I made an error and had to back out. I struggled to get some places back but only managed to pass some spinners, but some of them gained back on me by the end of the race. Overall no huge big messes and mainly isolated incidents, quite the contrast to south city eh?

Race 2 was worse but the food was eaten atleast. The harder I tried the worse I did. I was being cautious of contact with everyone, lack of practice here meant I was pretty fresh under the collar when it came down to making moves and racing it out for the position. At T1 I was really close to flipping the car, slammed it into counter steer and back on 4 wheels but hit the wall hard and bend the front. Struggled at the back all the way to the finish.

Race 3 I was trying hard again I was luckier on my position but still just wasnt putting in my qualyfying times so was easy pickings overall. But glad I brought the car home again all 3 times.

do a full lap and press F12 then read how much it says per lap, maybe a % per lap or so you need to do the lap to find out the fuel usage, example 1.1%. multiply that by 5 laps and there you go. you may want to put in an extra % to guarantee a finish, incase you spin the wheels too much or wind or something.

Well, single seaters arnt really my thing and I had been busy practicing for other leagues but still gave it my best shot. I started in 21st on server 2, even with a p.b in qualifying. The timer went orange and qualifying was over, my final lap was good, i crossed the line and got my first 2:01 p.b. (yes i know its slow compared to the fast guys).

The race started and I was a bit nervous, lots of cars around and I found myself passing slow or spinning cars aswell as catching up to other racers on the track, a little out of my comfort zone, I just wanted to cruise round safely. I think I tapped dsrc michael on the bum in the oval section, sorry mate, bad judgement of my overtake, got away with it but felt a bit bad. I think a couple of laps later i almost rear ended him again but managed to avoid it, just!

Then I settled into a rhythm in some space, found my line and tried my best not to get it wrong, something took hold of me and drove for me, at times I sat there with the wheel in my hands, baffled that I hadnt messed it all up yet, practice was terrible I wasnt very confident for the race distance at all. I slowly saw my position rising due to people making errors or pit stops which was nice too. I wasnt prepared to fight anyone, just get it home in the position I was in, a top 10 was more than I expected. So there I was cruising in 8th place with only a few laps to go when someone was gaining on me in my mirror. I let them go by taking a wide line and not fighting for it, but I guess someone took kindly to my good deed and the guy pitted then next lap, so my position I got back! I pitted once didnt have much damage, had a little too much fuel at the end but glad that I made sure I had plenty, 60% start fuel, pit just over half way and take on 50% fuel and new tyres. Old worn tyres are so nice when they cool down eh?!

8th place on server 2 even though I was slow and unsteady. chuffed with that.

Quote from ajp71 :I don't think aliens require an above average knowledge of physics, car setup or an above average setup to be fast. The first step is to have a setup that you're comfortable with then it's mainly about learning the best lines and knowing what the car will do before it does it. I'd say that anybody who's going around trying to think about physics whilst driving or gets too carried away with setups is at a distinct disadvantage to someone who just goes out and practices, and maybe occasionally analyses his driving against others, and lets face it which is more fun?

well yeah.

you can be fast and know someone else who is fast and knows setups too who can send you some sets, youre right.

Quote from BURN :that would be me... i usually dont have much trouble in the chicane, but this time i felt a bit under pressure and sadly touched the wall and...
I just tryed to give enough room...

I`m really sorry for the drivers who`s race was ruined with that accident!

dude dont worry the other racing we had was class, clearly a racing incident, possibly the cause of the mess but not really to blame, it could happen to anyone really, thanking my lucky stars it wasnt me this time!

this is a bad case of murphy's law. the beauty of south city's chicane is this tension, this whole "if i get it wrong now, the **** will really hit the fan" factor is part of the rush! without it, it wouldnt be the same feeling when bombing into it. at times i was 2 up through there, so it is possible with careful steering, allowing room for the other AND adjusting your speed to cope with the 2 up situation thru the chicane. its a slow lap if it happens, you need to back off, you cant stick to your usual line you HAVE to both take a totally new line and speed through there. if there is a days of thunder moment in the chicane, your race is in the hands of the gods, aim for the spinning car and youll miss it. welcome to south city (i lub it)

about the 4 up in T1, it works out well because of the general rules of racing that everyone follows, if someone on the inside has overlap they have right of way. dont let yourself be stuck on the outside. racing tactics come into play here. we had fun in practice doing some dives up the insides and defensive moves because the track is like that, you need to think some strategy too. its a street circuit, your car being a moving block is your #1 tool. but always do it in a way that is safe for both drivers to race without incident, defend, but dont defend over the top (easier said than done!) which puts you both at risk, just do small amounts to help you, if someone is clearly going to pass you it aint worth it sometimes.

practice time and results seem very similar, peeps should try to get on the ZWR server during the week, or anywhere running baby-r's at that combo, should you be lucky enough to have the spare time. practice qualifying and racing and you will be well prepared for lots of situations that may arise. i put in a tonne of hours and still wish i had more time to practice racing there, its really important if you ask me.

bring on round 3, will be some interesting chicane moments here too!
