Got mine this morning - at first I thought it was something else till I noticed the Logi tape, the box is much smaller than I thought.

First impressions - love it. The wheel is quality - didn't expect much of an improvement from the DFP but it definately is. Shifter isn't half bad neither are the pedals. Only two minor annoyances - had to open up the pedals and tighten the throttle arm down as it was excessively loose, and the right paddle had a rough edge which cut my finger, but a quick bit of sanding fixed that. Oh and the clutch spring feels a bit too stiff but meh its all good.

Just a thought, the power adapter doesn't look much like any of the ones I have for my other Logitech stuff, maybe there was a delay in sourcing a sufficent number of them? We know there was a mixup with them a few weeks back in Australia.

Edit: £160 from Logi. Damn, its tempting. Better than the £185 odd I sent Gameseek. Will definately switch the order if its not here next week for some reason.

Hmm maybe I should have ordered straight from Logitech Will give Gameseek another week before I think about changing my order.

Do you know if that was specifically orders taken direct with Logitech or the whole batch is being shipped today?

Everythings sounds rather promising for them being out in the next week or two now. I have heard from Gameseek that they heard yesterday they're on track for having them in this coming week and that part of the reason for the delay is "Logitech have hardly made any". Hmm..

Thats a bit freaky how close your story resembles mine Mine was an old 80 something 4 door manual with the 1.3CVH engine. Just under 21K on the clock when I got it, didn't put a great deal of miles on it, sold for £300 in the paper before I broke something on it.

They are fun to get sideways and generally drive like an idiot for a while Wouldn't dare risk it with what I'm driving now (parents Citroen C4 mostly) but thats whats so good about a Ford, cheap as chips to buy & run.

10 people though, wow. Don't think mine would have pulled itself up a hill with 10 people in.

Quote from mrodgers :Same here. I had a hand-me-down 83 4 door automatic. We would have a blast in that thing. We'd skip school, head out on the back roads, nail the e-brake and drive around sideways for hours. Occasionally, we'd get bored, I'd let go of the e-brake for a second, swing the back around to the opposite side and we'd drive like that for a while looking out the other window.

Ford Escorts rocked, especially with 10 people in them. One in the center, 2 on the passenger seat, 4 in back and 2 crunched up in the hatch and me driving .

Of course, about the longevity and reliability of Ford Escorts.... I aquired mine when my parents bought a new car. Had 24000 miles or something. It didn't handle my driving style past 36000 miles, hehe . To compare, my style didn't really change after I bought my first Toyota 4x4. In fact, from 4wheeling it, my style probably gave a worse beating on the Toy. Got rid of it simply because I wanted something newer at 190,000 miles. Still ran like a top too.

If I had a Ford today, I sure wouldn't admit to it, hehe. They aren't as bad as GM products though. Can you say "no feeling!" with GM.

Did have an old Escort while I was learning, it was crap in just about every way - brakes that felt like they were made of jaffa cakes, the engine had loud tappets, even the seats were more uncomfortable than an old Micra. Only plus point was it was fun to mess around with offroad, because I didn't give a toss about it In its defence it was cheap to run and the engine was pretty nippy.

Look at it this way, you don't get the funny looks you get if you say your into flight sims or Warcraft

I don't find it embarrassing to say I race a game online. I don't see it any different to running around killing people online. Its just something to do thats a bit of fun in my spare time. Its not really a geeky thing in my opinion, espically since popular racing games like Gran Turismo etc are well known.

Question to anyone ordering from Gameseek - I have to change the address to have it sent to as I'm moving at the weekend, anyone know the best way to do this? I've emailed them two days ago but no reply..

Why would they do that? Makes no business sense to hold back a product when theres ample demand for it.

Unfortunately I'm a smoker Don't smoke that much - 10 a day or less but its more than I'd like. I have cut it in half since this time last year. Seem to have trouble finding the motivation to kick the habbit though. And other drugs like weed..i have a bit once in a while tbh but don't want to try anything else, i'd rather keep my sanity intact thank you

Smoking doesn't have to be expensive..I get through 50g rolling tabacco every 2 weeks or so, so its only costing me around a tenner a month.

UF1 sounds sweet - although it does go strangely quiet when off the throttle. None the less it sounds good, would love to get hold of this. UFR could be good as well after a little work..didn't care for the LX4 one though, just didn't fit the type of car in my opinion.

When your 13 even £50 seems like a fair chunk of money The most a paper route ever pays is ~£30 a week..things are a bit different when you go out and get a proper job though.

I consider the £180 I paid for mine a fair and sensible price for the kit you get, I'm by no means rich - I live in a house share with 5 other people and work for Tesco's to pay my way through college, but you have to pay for quality and if you want decent kit for £50 your going to be waiting a while.

A barrier in midair isn't going to be too much more obvious than the bright red signs on either side of the road saying cars aren't allowed, and in some places will likely end up getting damaged and costing more to maintain. A fine sticks in your mind for a while, but causing £400 of damage out your own stupidity is going to stop you ever doing it again.

I agree its a daft risk to the baby in that video, and indeed to any passenger of the car espically if they're young, but its clearly the driver who decides to take that risk into his own hands. In every incident in that video the driver was clearly aware of the bollards and thought they knew better and to risk it. To be honest if someone has such little respect for the law, and sod all common sense why are they on the roads endangering other people? And they came off on the short end of it, while endangering other people. They do the job they're ment to perfectly, without IMO unnecessary risk, and you notice in all 3 incidents the bollards stopped raising when they met resistance.

The drivers got what was coming to them really..these things are always clearly signposted, and its clear they had their foot down trying to force their way through, so its not like they was unaware of them. Why unnecessarily complicate things having a barrier that raises, which would stand out badly in some town centres they're placed in and are more vunerable to damage, just because the idiots that refuse to obey the law and think they're better.

Only a fool would be narrow minded enough to believe everyone shares their opinion. Everyone has varying standards of what is "realistic", why do you think GT4, Toca 3, GTR2 etc sell so well compared to sims like LFS? The physics aren't top notch and the cars don't really respond realistically but its close enough that combined with real cars/tracks for a lot of people the experience is more realistic on the whole. Even if the tyre slip curves or whatever aren't perfect and the sounds aren't generated on the fly.

So your saying the LFS sounds are more realistic GTR, or basically synth vs sampled? Well theres a seperate thread for this anyway, but the method is of course much better and the audio feedback is superior with LFS, but they don't sound like any cars I've ever heard. The cars in GTR actually sound like real cars, sampled or not its a more convincing illusion.

Depends what you mean by realistic. The physics aren't as realistic as LFS but the sounds & cockpits are a lot more realistic, and it has real cars/tracks which some people mean when talking about realism.

No regrets really..my username is the same I've used since I can remeber. I came up with it when I was about 9 or 10, doesn't stand for anything, can't even remeber how I came up with it, but it stuck - its unique so I have no trouble registering on forums etc. When directly addressed in chat etc its normally shortened to rts, which works fine for me.

Great work on the mod - loving it, adds a new sense of depth to LFS, after using it for a while and trying the normal sound it just isn't the same anymore.

Any chance of a non-rapidshare mirror for the UF1000/UFR? Whenever I try Rapidshare I get "Invalid session". Stupid ISP
