Hopefully they won't be pushed back again The Act-Labs stuff I was very happy with, had the pref pedals and shifter, the shifter was a brilliant unit with an aftermarket gearknob, that shortened the shifts nicely. I was able to keep pace quite easily after a couple of months of getting used to clutch/shifter. I can only hope the G25 shifter is as nice as the Act-Labs one to use, even if I won't have time to use the kit much over the coming months.

Gameseek reckon they'll have them in 15 days. Knowing my luck that'll get pushed back again..

Thanks for your valuable and insightful opinion on Vista illepall Seriously though, stay away from beta products until they hit the shelves if you expect minor things like game controllers designed for a previous OS to work "play and play".

Nice sounds Although I presume theres no way to tweak LFS to use these sort of sounds with the cars, without modifying its performance figures/curves too?

We need to find the source of the delay in getting G25's to retailers, then shoot him/her. Since I parted with my DFP and ended up with a week off, I'm feeling lost. Might have to blow the dust off the old Sidewinder

Gives me time to make a new shifter mount I guess..what would be ideal is a universal mousemat mount thats designed to slide under the desk when not in use. Anyone know of such a thing?

Hmm, I'll leave my order with Gameseek..least they reckon they're definately getting some in out of the 1st batch.

Bit suprised to see so many people have problems with dabs.com..although I've never had to return a product to them yet.

Wow, nice price..almost worth canceling my Gameseek one for. I've shopped with dabs.com a few times, can't fault them.

The price we pay in the UK at Gameseek translates to $392 CAN inc shipping and sales tax. So don't grumble about $260

Why not bikes. Would be at the very least interesting, even if most of us aren't going to rush out and purchase whatever bike controller is available. Would love to see some dirt buggies in LFS though.

Very nice interview btw, thanks

What country your in doesn't matter as far as I know. They send them from The Netherlands or somewhere I believe anyway so they have to ship international.

Definately give it a go, should get a new one no problem. If they're out of stock, may even give you a discount towards a G25

Audi cars are lovely to work on, I briefly owned a 1986 Audi 90 (2L 5cyl), was a pleasure to work on. Pretty nippy as well, possibly it used the same engine model as yours AndroidXP.

That video..wow, pure ownage.

Bit OT..but RF is my fav 1st person shooter game. My fav PS2 games for multiplayer as well. The 1st was great for shortcutting by destroying stuff, if you wanted to. Still can in the 2nd one, but to a lesser degree. Its used for hidden secrets quite a bit.

Btw the 2nd one was released for PC, I completed it on PC long before I played it on the PS2.

Thanks for clearing that up mcman, and thanks for the additional details. Shall experiment a bit when the wheel arrives.

Phone up Logitech, explain to them the wheel is making a grinding noise when turning, and they will send you a complete replacement unit. They will ask you to return the plugs off the old unit to render it unusable, but you can keep the pedals intact as a spare set. When I damaged my old one last year this is what happened.

If you wish to void your warranty..to me it sounds like the geartrain is damaged, perhaps when turning fast once it skipped a few teeth and damaged them, maybe the motor moved slightly, throwing the gear mesh off, etc. If this is the case theres really nothing you can do. If you do take the cover off, check for any obstructions in the gears as this is also a possibility.

Shame he doesn't. Still a good vid though, the shifter sounds louder than what I'm used to, but you can't hear the wheel much.

Anyone know how long the Logitech warranty is on these? They supported the DFP well with 2 years, hopefully they'll be doing the same for this. Espically as they don't normally sell spares like springs/pots.

Some nice pics in that review, reveal some details the PR ones don't. Shame I can't read german Downloading the video anyway, hopefully the guy gives drifting a quick go so we can see how fast it reacts.

Thinking? Already on the verge of ordering a Momo wheel to fit on there. I'm used to a 320mm wheel on my DFP Looks like it will retain the paddles with a wheel replacement, and theres a few good proper size wheels that have two buttons..

I think one would be a good idea, perhaps a community competition for one which displays LFS at its best. True enough it keeps changing, but not in such a way that an intro movie would be immediately out of date. Maybe have it set to run always on startup for demo users with a key-press skipping it, but when S2 licenced, only have it run once, and on subsequent launches go straight to the menu.

Just my opinion though, small bits like this add the polish most people expect to a game.

If its not too much trouble for you, please tell me..does it look like the wheel is held on by those 6 bolts, or are they fake, like on the DFP, with the real mounts behind the panel?

I have a GPL USB shifter for sale as it happens, PM me if your interested. I am willing to post anywhere in the world by airmail. It has a momo racing gearknob, and comes with a spare plate, original gearknob, and spare springs etc. In very good condition.

G25 Noobs server sounds like a good idea, although those of us already using a similar setup might have an advantage

juggle, thanks for the writeup Have you found the shifter feels "loose", or easy to knock out of gear by mistake? I remeber reading the ones a few months ago felt pretty loose.

P1lot, I highly doubt its common to all DFP's. I've used a few, and none had this problem. My old DFP would sometimes calibrate the center point slightly off, but nothing like this.

Other than the fix someone else posted above, I don't know of any solution..if it was always off center you can use DXTweak to fiddle with it, but bceause its a variable problem that wouldn't help..

Wood, wow I'm suprised that doesn't let the wheel flex everywhere? I use 6mm lexan for mine.

Your Sidewinder FFB should be worth £10-£20 on Ebay, don't think there'd be much of a market for the Momo pedals though.

And its the ACT Labs GPL shifter, not my joystick based one I offered you If you would like just the pedals, check your PM mate.
