Gunn, no worries mate. I asked because I did own an ACT Labs setup until recently, and was happy with it, then decided to part with it as I don't really have the time for sim racing these days. Then figured meh sod it and ordered a G25.

You've seriously never had a jaffa cake?

Sounds good, thanks for the pic and writeup.

Have you ever used the ACT Labs shifter? Wondering how it compares in feel to others on the market.

Heh, I thought that video might be seen as porn by some of you Had me drooling for a while..

Comes with PC drivers in the box, they're a new version of the Wingman software. Ver 5.0 I think. Looks very similar to the old Wingman ver, which is fine with me because it does the job very well.

Edit: Just read the reply above mine..Razor, when you press the pedals in, do you see the axis for them move in LFS? While assigning them you shouhld be able to see the axis's move realtime on the right. Its possible you still have combined accel/brake enabled as well, you need to turn that off.

Suprisingly, no-one online in the demo either. Last time I was on S1 there was still a few drifting servers about, for whatever reason Infact I remeber logging onto there for a laugh, and there was this chap who didn't even know about S2, he was wondering why there was only ever 2-3 people online Soon pointed him towards it.

Just come accross my old S1H install, and it unlocked fine using the keyless system.

Good fun, although I was the only one online in the whole 1 server. Hmm wonder why

No such desk mods for me..the clamps on my DFP held it there okay, fail to see why the G25 ones will be any different. I don't like peering over the wheel ALL the time

Saw a link to an excellent video on "that other forum", clearly shows the wheel speed, sound (or relative lack thereof), and pedal spring strength compared to a DFP. Worth a look:

Will have to try it in the morning, will be a shame if it can't be done, S1 is a major part of LFS's history, its nice to indulge in nostalgia sometimes

Can you not unlock S1 at all anymore, in spite of owning an S1/S2 licence?
Rtsbasic

Only way to unlock it is to purchase S2. Which is well worth the small cost

How dumb are some people though..posting in the main section of the offical forum for a game asking basically how to crack it illepall

Really, you can be potentially as fast on a £10 Sidewinder or a £180 G25 or a £3,000 motion setup. But some things, such as force feedback, make it easier to go faster. Others such as a H shifter, will slow you down a tiny bit. Its all about having more fun though, and increasing the immersion.

With a clutch/H shifter in LFS, you will be slower. But after a couple of months pratice with it, you won't be noticably slower, and infact gain an advantage in a lot of situations. Once LFS gearbox simulation improves, there should be more of an advantage to using a manual clutch.

Gameseek still saying 10 days..I hope it doesn't get pushed back like dabs.com..not played LFS since I parted with my DFP a while back. Getting withdrawal

Nice buy, looks like fun. I've thought about getting a heli for a long time, but after seeing the results of one getting caught by the wind and smashed into a tree, and lacking the indoor space to use one, I think I'll stick with monster trucks

1. Always backup before testing a new mod

2. Works in any view, although the sound doesn't change going from internal -> external, no doppler effect..will be fine in wheel view though.

3. Dunno to be honest, not had the time to try it online yet

4. Wheres the harm in giving it a go? Espically with the current state of LFS sound, its a definate improvement.

David, Check your Inbox mate.

Oli, as far as I know theres currently no program designed to do that with the DFP, only the momo racing. Which is why I said in theory its possible.

As far as wiring a shift light in through USB or RS232, have a look over at the RSC hardware forum, a few people there have done things like this and shown how they did it.

Looks great mate, its the small touches that matter Thanks for uploading somewhere other than rapidshare btw.

South City..big challenge. You have your work cut out for you, it looks good already, so your going to have to raise the bar Looking forward to it.

Unfortunately the latter seems to be true. It can't much longer now, Gameseek says 13 days, I hope this is realistic. My head might just explode if it isn't. I don't care if I only get a tiny bit of time to use it each week, I hate waiting

Nice wheel you got on there, bit better than the one I had on it Bet it weighs a tad more though.

No plans to put any buttons back on it?

An application similar to monoleds but designed for the DFP, then borrowing the wiring for one of the DFP's leds and sticking a bigger one on there, would work in theory.

Or you could wire one in via a USB port quite easily, to keep it tidy, if you wish to put it on the wheel, you could have it running back down the main shaft, and make a small hole in the back of the DFP case to run it out of.

I wouldn't have a problem buying from dabs.com, like I said eariler in the thread, I've ordered a few bits from them before no problems. Its not a bogus price. Never tested their returns policy which is what sounds shite about them, but at least with Logitech the company themselves deal with the warranty. They really are very cheap though, I brought a Sony 19" TFT from a local retailer for £200, following day my dabs.com newsletter tells me they have it £160, £30 cheaper than anywhere else.

Its already available for £150 from dabs.com. I can't see the price coming down much for a while, because they keep mentioning its "limited edition" etc. Much like the Momo red didn't come down in price much IIRC?

Whaa? Hmm if Scawen has one maybe we'll get an improved gearbox model soon. Can but hope

Damn, that was brilliant! You can tell a lot of work went into it.

IIRC they use a RS232 plug so might work without the wheel, with a generic 2 axis driver. You could always test this.

I think you'll get more for them on here/RSC than Ebay mate.

If it was made in 2005, and the plastic thing the manual come in says Rev B, they're likely rev B. I've had 3 DFP's, all said Rev B, all were indeed Rev B pedals with metal pots.

Opening them up to check is no big deal as the guy above explained. I've delt with Logi tech support a few times and the most they've ever asked for is the connector back, never asked for the whole units as its unreasonable of them to expect you to ship the whole thing to a different country.

Hopefully they won't be pushed back again The Act-Labs stuff I was very happy with, had the pref pedals and shifter, the shifter was a brilliant unit with an aftermarket gearknob, that shortened the shifts nicely. I was able to keep pace quite easily after a couple of months of getting used to clutch/shifter. I can only hope the G25 shifter is as nice as the Act-Labs one to use, even if I won't have time to use the kit much over the coming months.
