If it had the ring, and some road cars, I'd be buying it already. Its about half the reason I still play GT4 - its version of the ring is excellent, even if the physics are a bit strange at times.
FOR SALE: NEW Driving Force Pro

I have for sale one brand new Driving Force Pro, revision B with UK power adapter. Never used or even taken out the box - box only opened to vertify it was all there. 2 year warranty from Logitech.

I currently have it on ebay, but to anyone here its £45 + postage (approx £8). Its boxed up and ready to post, postage includes insurance. Paypal preferred. Can deliver if your in the Milton Keynes & surrounding towns area. This is *not* a reconditioned unit like most you see for sale, and has the newest version pedals. As most of you know it works great with LFS/rF/NK Pro etc, as well as PS2 games like GT3, GT4, Enthusia, etc.

I've been playing with rF the last few days. I like the new Megane mod, and a couple of the tracks released for it are very nice. Biggest problem for me is you can't feel the point of no return when the rear end steps out too far, making it very easy to spin. The cars also seem to spin too easy as you approach that limit. The default FF settings are complete rubbish as well, but it can be tweaked and the end result is quite nice.

I much prefer LFS for online racing, but rF gives me enough amusement in single player to be worth keeping on my HD. I've not really bothered with multiplayer because the amount of fragmentation. The AI seems to be much better than either LFS or GT4. The community doesn't seem very good on the whole - espically when you mention LFS But each to their own I guess. Now that mods are starting to become more refined for rF its more appealing than it used to be.

The lack of buttons on the wheel doesn't bother me. How many buttons do you have on your real cars wheel? (hmm bad example, my C4 has as many as my DFP). Its got buttons to look around, and you have buttons near the shifter to check tyres, map to messages etc, more than enough in total in my opinion.

An AGP graphics card is a very good investment even if its going into an old system, because it can be carried into a new one. 90% of computers made in the last 10 years have AGP slots.

Personally I'd recommend either an Nvidia 6600 based card, or an ATI Radeon 9600 based card. Both offer excellent value for money and can be had for around £50.

October seems so far away now Should be a nice step up from my DFP.

What I'd do is phone Logitech directly and explain to them that its broke beyond reasonable repair, and they'll send you a new one out (probably). I've had problems with 2 DFP's - on one the pedals developed their infamous problem, and on the other it would loose its center point, on both occations they sent me a new wheel.

Hmm, I want, I want now! Time to sell the spare DFP before word gets about too much. Wonder if the shifter will feel nice like a homemade one, or cheap. It sure looks nice.

Anyone know a release date? Maybe between selling my Wingman Extreme joystick (shifter), MS sidewinder wheel (for clutch pedal) and spare DFP (logitech like giving me these) I'll be half way to affording it.

I have encountered texture errors in LFS before when task switching is involved. There was no task switching prior to the object distracting me though, only after it appeared, so i could grab a screenshot of it.

Rappa Z, dude, go outside, breathe some proper air, if you don't eventually your head will explode.

Aquilifer, it would move relative to my car down the straight, and would appear to be at different distances when looked through front or side window, so not an artifact on the monitor. It was also only visible from the chicane to entry of turn 3, and would appear behind trees when looked at from the chicane.

My processor seems to be dying..maybe thats what caused it, never heard of it causing a glitch like that before though. When I shift-F4'd and ran Paint Shop Pro, then went back to LFS and shift-F4'd back, the object did disappear, maybe it'll be back the next time my system is toasting.. Didn't look like any object i've seen in LFS before, but it must be LFS related, because it wasn't permantantly visible.

Just to point out that my screenshot has been in no way edited or "photoshop'd". I think maybe it was a result of my graphics card being overclocked on a hot day, who knows. I was curious to see if anyone else has ever seen it..guess not.

If its Biggie, he must have been playing a funny game, because the object would stay parallel with me down the straight, but appear to be far away when I pulled over. It also looked a lot closer when viewed out a side mirror than the windscreen.
The aliens in LFS

Maybe its just me, but I think the aliens are planning a secret invasion force. Before you point me in the direction of a shrink, take a look at the screenshot attached, and tell me if you can think of any other reason why there's a UFO in my Blackwood sky? illepall

In TBO, the FXO is a lot faster for sure - and easier to drive (I let a friend whose never raced LFS before loose in the FXO on AS NAT, within 1 race he was competitive enough to claim 7th out of 20-odd racers, tried the same with XTT, he didn't finish the race because it takes more pratice to go fast consitantly). But at the min, when you do good with the RB4 or XTT, you have something to be proud of

It would be nice if the FXO had a little less grip up front..I have trouble beliving that IRL you can accelerate as hard out of a corner as the FXO can. Of course the only real cars I've pushed up to and beyond their limits haven't been quite as powerful or race-tuned so I don't know if its realistic.

Well I don't really know anyone going except Scotty and Will, but if its at Daytona MK, I'll be there. Mostly because its a 10 min walk from my house Be good to put some faces to names. I am away after July 8th though.

I don't think using a manual clutch makes you noticably faster, but using a manual clutch pedal and a proper shifter makes it *much* more fun. I use the pedals off a MS Sidewinder for a clutch, and a Logitech Force 3D joystick modified into a gear shifter, and it makes the road cars a lot more fun. I reckon when using a manual clutch and shifter you gain an advantage in some secarnio's as well, like UF1 @ SO Classic, I'm a lot faster there compared to when I ran auto clutch and using the paddles.

Just sit back and laugh, works for me. You *definately* get your money's worth with this game, I am not a fan-boy by any means but I generally spend a good few hours a week racing online in LFS, no other game has EVER lasted that long for me and continues to challenge me.

If you make a 2nd one, keep the same intro format as the 1st one, it rocks. Reason I prefer "Just Racing" is your video shows more wrecking and damage, which does not look all that realistic. I also preferred the music of Just Racing. Overall though very nice vid.

I prefer the simple install method compared to other games (or sims, whatever you wanna call them). Means I can keep it on my archive drive, and if I for any reason have to reformat and install Windows, I can just create a new shortcut, unlock my licence again, and its all ready to go.

Let me ask you this, if you had to reinstall LFS every time you reinstalled windows, or got a new HD or whatever, would you prefer to backup and then move accross all the skins, setups, config file etc seperately, or would you rather just move the whole folder?

For your other points..damage exists, it could be better but as has been said the current implimentation is a quick one to get the job done. Go bounce off a few curbs at South City in the LX4 for 5 mins, you'll see it working.

Your definately looking at it from the wrong side. This isn't an EA game release, its made by a very small talented team of people, actual people that you can communicate with. You will not find it in stores, they would not even be aware of it, for this setting the online distribution system is excellent and very straight forward. Don't forget its not finished - its clearly in ALPHA status, that is what you paid for. The AI is a moot point - its an online sim, the AI has its uses but it is not the primary focus of this game.

Of course Tristan will prefer "This is S2", wonder why

Personally I think "Just Racing" is the best LFS video ever, but This is S2 is a damn close runner up.

Great stuff, thanks for re-enabling the blip on downshift option.

The way it behaves (and always has) is a bit strange though - it blips the throttle when I upshift as well, I think maybe because it does it when coming out of a gear all the time, if it did it when coming into the gear and if the selected gear was lower than the previous gear it blipped that might be better? Either way, good work on all the recent patches

I've been having a blast with the RB4 - last night I was often taking a top 3 position on Blackwood against mostly FX0's. I had a go on KY Nat as well and was doing okay, you really have to work to make the car run a good laptime compared to the FX0 though. My laptimes were on average slightly slower than FX0's still but it is more competitive than it previously was. And great fun to drive!

Scawen, Great to see you staying on the ball regarding bugs

I have one bug to mention I don't believe affects many people, but its really annoying. I use a manual clutch pedal and a homebuilt shifter, but for my throttle/brake I'm using DFP pedals. I cannot heel/toe drive these without a painful ankle after a short while, so in past versions I have used the throttle blip on downshift option, but it goes invisible when using a manual clutch now. Any chance you can make it remain visible? Its very hard to keep the car stable without it on some configurations and is ruining the experience a bit for me. Other than that, great work
