Quote from kimd41 :My .02 would be that they're either moving to a faster server or to a less expensive one.

I wish it was a preparation for the patch though

Completely agree.

Quote from Klutch :Heh, my car has extractors, into a 3" straight through into a magnaflow muffler. No middle mufflers or cats.

It'll set off alarms just casually driving through the car park >_<

Yeah gets a bit old with the cops hassling you tho. It's hard to find the compromise between flow and noise.

LX4, but with a turbo engine

Followed closely by the XRT

I don't think i could road register an FZR

BOV's are used to prevent compressor surge and subsequent damage to the turbo, AFAIK.

Closed BOV's, more boost than the engine can handle

And BOV not set/working correctly vs working/set correctly

flapper = Throttle body/butterfly i assume

When people say "flapper" i imagine the old style AFM's that have a huge flap inside them for measuring air flow.....lol

LFS has the most realistic Turbo simulation i've seen in a racing sim so far. GTR Evo/Netkar/rFactor don't even simulate boost.

Also iirc, turbo cars, when free revved, don't make a lot of boost, until you rev them flat out....need someone with a boosted motor + gauge to confirm that, was a while ago i was speaking to someone about it, something to do with the engine not being loaded? not 100% sure..

if you want to see bad turbo "simulation" watch a video/play NFS Shift *shudder*
pretty sure it sends the boost gauge up with the engine off *facepalm*

Quote from Falcon140 :They tested it on the news a few days ago. It's something in the electrics that keeps the engine at high revs no matter what you do to the pedal. The test driver on the news tried using the brakes, but they couldn't hold it. He just popped it in neutral no problem, and turned the key. A little presence of mind would have saved many lives honestly.

$300 worth of electronics for throttle control might give better economy, but as i said before, i trust a $10 cable way more. Why is it we as a race can't see that building "smarter" electronics isn't the answer to everything. Just wait till they have self aware robots with guns on them...I can see the headlines now, 20 killed in friendly fire incident etc. Fantastic.

Quote from lap traffic nz :must be something with toyota at the moment, just a recall notice the other day for my 1991 surf (4runner) apparently the steering relay rod breaks without warning leaving you with no steering can't wait for that to happen...

so they're recalling a car for a part that at that age should probably have been replaced already? wow.

you don't generally feel brake lockup thru the pedal, its more of an audio/sensory response to the way the car "feels" At least thats how it works for me. but the more you know your car, the more you will generally get a feel for it's limits, IE pedal pressure/Gforces etc etc.

The classics. P51, Spitfire, 109, 190. Most of the bombers from that era. I just love the look of it..

have what toyota had 30 years ago - A BUTTON SO YOU CAN'T ENGAGE THE STEERING LOCK WITHOUT DEPRESSING IT. My car has this. Simple solution to a simple problem. Furtherest back position you can have in the car without pressing the button is ACC (accessories)

lol it doesn't feel realistic, but i can tell which gear i'm in from the feel of where the lever is. I usually use a couple fingers to shift it, and yeah i can just feel where it is. Just practice with it, but be gentle, they can be a bit fragile (according to other people who have broken theirs)

Logitech speakers have to be some of the most overhyped crap i've ever heard. They sound good next to $5 computer speakers, sure. But next to proper gear....not even comparable.

yeah gotta say wtf man. Pretty crap driving. Altho this does bring up some interesting topics - Keyless ignition....how do u stop that in this kinda situation. Automatic gearboxes that are fully electronic, what if the software prevents you from downshifting to protect the engine? All this new technology is ok i spose but when i'm operating machinery, I WANT TO BE IN CONTROL OF WHAT IT DOES. Not a handful of computers that are supposedly smarter than me. you can keep all that fancy shit it's just engineers trying to be "smart" and "make things better" I'll take a $10 throttle cable over a few hundred bucks worth of electronics anyday.
